How long have you been waiting since the medicals went in Peach?

This is me so far:

Subclass 100 (Now confirmed) - Submitted 07/01/10

Payment taken - 12/01/10

CO Assigned, Medical and Police Certs requested - 14/01/10

Police Cert sent via Special Delivery - 26/01/10

Medical completed - 05/02/10

Medical results sent by Panel Doc to Australia House - 15/02/10

CO Acknowledged receipt of medical results (after prodding from me!) - 18/02/10

I must admit, today I made it clear that I had no immediate plans to travel and would be happy to go on a low priority pile. Hence being told July. If I did have flights booked, I think I would have been given more of a priority.

Thanks Peach - and many congratulations!

So yours took about 2 months from the date of medicals. My medicals were received last week and they confirmed they have everything they need and now I am 'in process'. I'm checking my inbox every couple of hours hoping to hear I'm in but I know I'm weeks away still. Getting married in WA in October and would feel more comfortable if I had the visa !

Congrats again :-)

Well it's still good news Peach  You can have a 'mini' celebration now and a BIG one when you get your visa 'offically' so a small whoop whoop for now

Hope it gets delivered tomorrow for you so you can get it sent off

JULY?!!

From a Jan application?

That's incredible! I really feel for you. But I guess at least you know it's coming.

Maybe I should chase mine tomorrow - that email I referred to last week didn't happen because I made a typo in the email address -

So now I'm stuck until tomorrow due to ANZAC day - I feel like such an idiot!

Not sure if he will even reply but I just said that we were struggling to make plans without knowing what the timeline might be (which is perfectly true, my OH is a bit focused, and he likes to have all his ducks in a row, so he won't even talk about plans to move until we get the email!)

That was how I was - it was the only way I could cope with the stress. One step at a time. It drove my partner crazy though.

Hi,

We are in the beginning of the process, I am a kiwi/aussie and hubby is british. We live in Essex with two kids and hopefully soon will put the house on the market.

Luckily for us the market in our area has really picked up and houses are selling fairly quickly - but still there is when do you submit your application question.

To soon and the visa (once approved) could have to validate before the house is sold/completed etc due to any number of reasons, but if leave it to late be in limbo land no visa/no house and homeless with two kids and two dogs.

I have evidence for the last 7 years and just need to get it sorted, have the stat decs from from Australian's, and all the required docs certified - only need to complete the main application and write our own statements.

The main hold up is hubby telling his parents, I know its not easy - been there done that, but just want to get things going.

Good luck to those who are waiting for approval, hope they all start coming through quickly.

Cheers

Some news... I cracked and phoned my CO again. She confirmed that all the conditions of my visa were met and that I would be getting a subclass 100 permanent partner visa. But, as I have no plans to travel until 2011 I won't be getting the visa until July!!!! So PARTY on the one hand MORE WAITING on the other!! :)

Congrats Peach! Your getting the 100 straight away!! Yay !!

Hi, I am an Aussie, and my husband is from England. We are hoping to be heading back to Perth in August/Sept. Our stats so far are:

Application sent off early Feb 2010

8th Feb - Payment taken out

9th Feb - Husband recieved email asking for more evidence of relationship, medical check, police check and evidence of my visa in UK - they gave us 28 days to return this.

9th March - remaining evidence sent in (police clearance arrived at the 11th hour!)

around 16th March - emailed to say they have enough evidence and we will find out between the 8th of May and the 8th of June.

Fingers crossed!!!

My husband and I are a bit worried because he had some minor offences from 12/13 years ago but he got a 'no live trace' on his police clearance. Anyone have experience with a similar problem or know a thread that deals with this?

I have a criminal record going back to when I was a teenager. Petty theft, handling stolen good that kind of thing. Am a fully reformed citizen now  I was advised by my agent to submit an extra personal statement detailing how I came to have a criminal record, how sorry I am, how I've since turned my life around etc. Along with 3 character references. I've since been told my visa will be granted in July, so it must have worked :policeman: As long as he declared the convictions on form he should be fine.

Also, here is the information that I gathered together on the subject: http://www.gotmyvisa.co.uk/2009/09/character-requirement.html

He didn't declare it on the original form where you just tick a box about being convicted, because he said it was just a caution. Then as the weeks went by he started to say 'hmm, that one time might of been a conviction' - i was worried becuase it looked like he lied. Then when the check said 'no live trace' we realised there was something on there. So I wrote a very nice letter (for him) explaining the mistake. He has passed police clearances in the past for work, so I am hopeful. I think you just start stressing about every little thing when its so important!!!

Thnaks for the reassurance

It might be worth you trying to speak with your CO, as there is a form for correcting answers that were previously answered incorrectly. I'd say you need to submit that as minimum... http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/1023.pdf Failure to declare a conviction can be considered a sign of continued bad character and is reason to decline an application.

Not trying to scare you, but you should be concerned and trying to ensure that your CO is happy. I know from my own experience that files for applicants with convictions go to Senior Case Officer's for review (adding extra delay to the application).

Also, to my knowledge it isn't just a tick box on the form. You either tick No or are expected to go into detail describing what the conviction was...

you'll be fine.. if he's shown he's a reformed character. I cracked and mailed my CO. Anyone else dealing with a Mike R? No problems with him at all, just wondered if he was one of the more 'relaxed' Case officers. Think im just getting really impatient now, just want to know whats happening with our lives instead of being stuck in limbo

Mike R.... YEP.... He is my CO aswell !!!!! What Visa you going for, I am going for PMV (Subclass 300). Haven't had much dealings with Mike yet but he seemed ok to me, I have spoken to him on the phone to confirm my email was received since some of my friends haven't been receiveing them but that turned out to be an error on Hotmails side. So far Mike has been fine but like I said we haven't had much contact really, we're just sitting waiting in our respective countries almost getting too stressed with the whole no contact situation, my advice is to not expect much contact as he along with EVERYONE else there probably deal with a good few hundred cases and so can't afford to keep anyone up to date with their situations unless absolutely neccessary!

yeah this is the first time Ive pestered.. so i'm not a serial pest or anything. We're applying for the temp spouse visa. Just reading previous posts could see some case officers can be a bit flakey, but ours hasnt seemed too bad. just emailed saying if there was anything we could do from our end to speed things up as were hoping t leave in june.. we got an automated response though.. ill post it, not anything to go off like but might help clear up any queries for other 'waiters'

Thanks for your email. We are seeking to process your application as soon as possible. You will appreciate, however, that all non-citizens applying for visas to enter Australia are considered on their individual merits and against legal requirements set out in Australia’s migration legislation. This often includes requirements for mandatory health, character and national security checks that are undertaken by other agencies and can take some time.

The timing for the completion of the checks varies from one case to another depending on individual circumstances. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide you with a definitive timeframe for finalisation of your application as some cases may take several months to finalise. You can be assured, however, that the Department of Immigration and Citizenship staff will do all they can to ensure that your application is finalised as quickly as possible. If you require a general timescale, the average processing time is usually between 3-4 months, sometimes longer. Please note that currently the processing time is currently above this.

Nothing more to provide at this stage. Checks still ongoing.

so looks like evidence is still being verified

Thanks, am going to email our CO now and ask about the form. I said to him at the time its not the conviction that's the problem its that you didn't bloody declare it!

True, it is a question that you need to provide info about. Of course, for him at the time it was just a tick box, becasue he ticked the 'no' box! Thanks again, will update.

it may put your mind at ease.... but knowing how i worry about every little thing probly not... ours is health issues and as we r going through washington our timeline is harder to judge. We are applied in dec 09 but as i say reports from specialist will make our longer than those with no issues. The roller coaster of emotions and the what ifs wont go away until we know...

best of luck to you all
