Plugs

Hello,

This may seem the most daft question for which I apologise, but the closer I get to the date of departure, now 55 days I'm beginning to think more about the little things like what electrical appliances I really need to take, but once that's decided I wondered whether I should call a sparkie to fit new plugs when I arrive, or is this something that you can do yourself after a trip to a DIY store.  Any guidance would be most welcomed.

🙂

In some states it’s illegal to fit your own plugs (Qld from memory) otherwise do your own.

If you're ever near a TK Maxx, it's worth popping in and looking at the shelves by the tills.  They have some Australia adapters ridiculously cheap 2 for £2 a couple of months ago.

Additionally, bring a 4-gang UK extension and then you can plug in 4 UK devices in with just 1 adapter ;-).

As Quoll says, it's illegal in some states. However it's not likely you'll get found out, unless you do a botch job and burn the house down.  Worth getting some Uk to Oz adapters to start with as you'll have too much on your plate to faff around changing plugs.

It could invalidate your home insurance in the event of a fire. Unlikely, but possible.
