Yup I have almost stopped thinking about it now as it just helps a little but as soon as someday it. Once comes to my mind that whole day is wrecked as I cannot think about anything else but the reasons possible for not picking my file and just get stressed that if I'm ever gonna get it or not ....emoji31.pngemoji31.pngemoji31.png

Yeah - I get that feeling. You are a transition applicant, has your company or MA reached out? This timeline is just really not reasonable.

We have different occupation but mine is lodged 3 months earlier and my nomination approved in May so I don't think the occupation is an issue.  Extra docs requested for my visa (transcripts, statutory declaration) submitted within May.  As we have same MA, same countries, same employer, we submitted almost same documents but luckily my colleague got straight approval w/o any required docs.

I think the CO really matters with time frame, depends on their assessment standards and how fast they pick up pending applications.  My analysis goes like this, if application has further docs needed they leave it after advising the MA/applicant. Then continue processing new applicant files.  They don't go back to the pending file if they are currently assessing new files even if extra docs are all supplied on pending application.  Which like my case, my CO must have been occupied with other applicants now and can't manage to pick up my files.  Oh I'm going nuts (: .

That's fair. Regarding the CO, when I called immi, I got told that the files are being looked at by a team and then the final decision is given to the CO.

After one year on that forum I would say:

They have KPIs in terms of percentage of applications to approve per month, once they achieve it, they go to the next month.

I would say that the occupation definitely plays a role, and I feel they prioritise the ones in demand in Australia as they have to balance the economy.

Salary seems to be a factor too.

DE applications take more time as the Skills (i.e. skills assessment) need to be checked but they will prioritise them if the occupation is in demand in Australia.

Now in terms of checking the document etc., yeah it feels like it mostly depend on the CO. It looks like some go faster than others. Which explains the important of the luck factor in that process.

I've myself called a few times but get the same irritating reply that "my application has not been opened yet but it might happen soon" and about my MA he emailed twice which didn't bring much other than auto reply. Really don't know what to do ....

What should I say but still wish us good luck no matter what.

I had the same experience. I suppose that even your company nomination has not been opened either?

Quick question: have you reached out to your local MP?

A MA friend of mine reckons that they open first applications with high IELTS marks...

I have heard that before. I have also heard that the company and the source (i.e. MA) are important too.

That would also mean that they'd prioritise native english speakers and Direct Entry streams.

The DE applicants have to get a minimum of 6 for IELTS while transition visa applicants have to get a minimum of 5.

Hi Jess, I am onshore DE Applicant from UK (LR).  I am also a high tax payer in Australia and i am now into my 9th Month since my application was lodged. I am skill exempt and English language exempt, i also have Fragoman as my MA. . I would conclude that occupation is the over riding factor in terms of priority.  Marketing Specialist / Manager is simply not a occupation that IMMI needs to prioritise and i have come to terms that my application will take at least a minimum of 12 months if not longer.

Thanks for your answer. I came to this conclusion as well regarding the occupation.

However if you look at the spreadsheet, you will see that Marketing specialists on Transition Visa who applied in November 2016 got their applications approved in less than 6 months.

So it seems to solely apply to Direct Entry applicants.

I've got contacted from my MA today asking for my original untranslated police clearances.

Visa/Nomination applied on 20/01/17, CO allocated, nomination approved and asked for documents on 28/6/17.

Interesting that on my Immi account I still see my application as Received.

I feel you mate.  I lodged in November as well and my colleague who applied 3 months after me was approved this month. Same company, MA & countries but different occupation.  Do you have CO already?
