Zee14042016
@Izzielizzie and @badaich89 : My MA reverted after contacting the department with a follow-up because I pushed for it. Here is her response. No of much help, but just in case if it makes you feel any better: " We have been advised the following: We are currently allocating ENS/RSMS cases lodged between March and August 2016, however not all cases in this date range have been allocated. You may be contacted when your case is allocated or if further information is required. Please note that we will not respond to status enquiries. In light of the above as previously advised we would need to wait till we hear back from the Department. We would strongly recommend you not contacting the Department in any way as this may not be look favourably by the Department. Unfortunately the Department are severely under-resourced as such the long processing times. No point in stressing." Hi @jess6 and @Zee14042016 - yes, it certainly seems like ICT and healthcare roles get processed more quickly and based on recent timelines, DE MS ones take much longer compared our TRN counterparts. However, when I look at other occupations like Cook, Customer Service Manager, etc., some DE ones were quick yet others wait a while, for instance @Gary1985 has been waiting for a CO since Feb 2016. So maybe there's something else?? Do you think that 186 DE applicants already onshore and working in their sponsoring companies could potentially be experiencing delays?? I've been with my employer 3 years now, though I did not fulfill the two years on 457 with this company upon lodgement, hence our DE application. Wish they could also prioritise the rest of us waiting far longer too. Hitting 11 months soon, what a shocker! But even longer for Gary and the others. There should be more transparency in allocation - for months last year, the automated email was stuck on 'Feb applications' and now it's covering 6 whole months. Weird! Plus, we know that there are files pre-March still pending a CO. If they're understaffed, time to reallocate/hire extra resources to catch up with the backlog, as it's doubtful that 75% are still being processed within 6 mos. In theory, 186 applications are ALL supposedly priority cases. I can understand delays when in progress, but simply not been allocated?? So is time of lodgement basically irrelevant now? I hope we see movement in the older files this week and in the next few. WOW @zacata, just saw your post and had to edit my comment - that sounds wonderful - CONGRATS on your new life as PR, and best wishes on the new baby! samzz111
DE guys my MA told me a classified information about not considering most of the DE applications it's going to take about 12 or more months to open the files as they are beyond with lot of transition applications. They are pushing transition files Until December 2016 by June and they start processing the DE files . They are not completely holding them but 90% of the files will be on hold until June according to my MA .

We continued seeing DE applications going through :-) First, MAs are layers - and as such - I doubt they would disclose "classified information" if they had any as it would be a risk for their reputation with Immi. Then, I do not believe that the department of immigration shares that sort of information - if they are even true - with Migration Agents or anybody else, because again, this is a legal process. Finally CO and MAs know that clients are spreading the news on forum. In the press, there are articles on how the government is exploring the possibility of giving PR only after a substantive visa at some point. So that could mean some changes for DE PR visa (189, 190 or 186) but at this point in time, there is nothing happening so let's not feed the troll. jess6
For all the DE guys, try to keep calm. We often hyper focus on the last thing we see but if you come back to the spreadsheet. You will see that: November 2015: 7 transition and 4 Direct Entry are pending December 2015: 5 Transition are pending - no direct entry January 2016: 4 transition are pending - no direct entry February 2016: 7 transition and 4 Direct Entry are pending March 2016: 5 transition and 2 Direct Entry are pending April 2016: 7 transition and 11 Direct Entry are pending May 2016: 7 transition and 5 Direct Entry are pending June 2016: 11 transition and 14 Direct Entry are pending - There are a lot of Direct Entry visa in June... July 2016: 10 transition and 6 Direct Entry are pending (majority of approved cases are transitions, 2 DE approved) August 2016: 14 transition and 7 Direct Entry are pending (all approved cases are transition, No DE approved) Now, in September, the only application approved is a Direct Entry and in October 1 transition is approved (10 months wait), 1 Direct Entry is approved (7 months wait), one other application is approved and we don't know what it is. I am going to continue sticking to the facts: - We only see a few applications in the spreadsheet (each a few dozens versus several thousands in reality) - The Department has an average 6 months timeline - with goal to approve 75% of the visa in 6 months. - They are currently communicating by mail a 6 to 11 months timeline - i.e. they declare reviewing March to August files. - All applications are in queues - Direct Entry Visa have more requirements and need more time to be reviewed by COs - All applications are in queues reviewed by order of dates. - The department of Immigration is severely understaffed due to job cuts which happened in 2016 So my conclusions are following: COs are approving Transitions faster because they require less scrutiny than Direct Entry visas and consequently are faster to review. This helps the department to achieve or be closer to their 75% KPIs in 6 months. That being said, if an Direct Entry application is an occupation that is severely lacking in Australia - such as Nurse - it might get approved faster as this is vital to the country. Some CSOL occupations seem to be very popular (Cook, Chef, Restaurant Manager, Marketing Specialists etc.). Maybe there are specialised CO's for each occupations, who knows? If that's the case, that would explain why certain occupations need more time to be approved. If you go through the whole forum, you will see that depending on who talks to immigration, the person says something slightly different: We are proceeding "March to August" or "We are process March to June". This also may mean that some team are allocated to certain timelines or occupation types. This is stressful but let's not imagine too much things
