I make my own yoghurt, I have an electric yoghurt maker which keeps it warm for 24 hours - it makes lovely thick yoghurt. My recipe is 1.5 litres water, 2.25 cups of powdered milk, 0 - 3 tbsp sugar depending on what I want the yoghurt for, 8 drops calcium chloride and then a few specks of yoghurt culture and probiotic culture which I store in my freezer.

I make my own.

Also cheat a bit with an EasiYo https://www.easiyo.com/shopping/landing-au.html

1L sachets we buy in bulk online and cost half the price of a tub of yogurt.

FWIW I no longer buy or make Greek yogurt due to the waste of product. Its a very wasteful process and as lovely as it is, I can't justify that much waste.

I didn't know about the whey, it had never occurred to me. Thanks for the link, it was an interesting read. There is a tiny bit of whey at the top when I make yoghurt, but I stir it in. I once tried to make labneh cheese from some of my yoghurt, quite a bit of whey came out but we didn't like the cheese so I haven't made it since.
