They're still a bit young for HP Stacey! Maybe next trip, but good idea thanks.

TBH they'd get more excited about Legoland, Windsor! We'll hopefully have a chance to go there

I saw some little kids there but yeah it's probably best for older kids since a lot of it is the props from the film, it's not like a theme park like the Florida one. Legoland sounds good, I'm sure they'll like it there!

Cheers, well, we'll be in London for just 2 days. The rest of the time is in Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, Sussex and Italy!

I was wondering if your going to the mainland. Thought you may have touched on France, knowing your keenness on that country. Italy very nice though. 2 days in London better than nothing but must be a job deciding what will warrant attention during that short time. Like both Herts and Sussex which know quite well. Don't recall ever touching base in Gloucestershire though.

Be a different look from Geelong which can't be bad nice as The Gee is and all.

Yeah it's definitely hard to pick places in a short time. If you were a newbie it would be a complete nightmare haha. I thought 2 or 3 days was more than enough and then ended up staying 5 nights and still didn't get to see everything I wanted to see especially lion king!

If you are going buy tickets online in advance as prices at the gate are much higher. Last time I was there a few years ago it was looking a bit tired so I hope they have spruced it up a bit since. It is ideal though for the 4-7 age group. Good idea to take a picnic too as food was costly there and not good; same with all theme parks in my experience.

Eastbourne to be precise. My lovely sister lives in Hastings, so we chose Eastbourne to be a good place to explore from

Hastings!....the hardest place in the world to get to by road......30miles of single carriage way roads following bloody heavy goods vehicles at 25 MPH!.....lol.....I got a flat in Hastings, bought it at auction in 2011 and spent 6 months driving to Hastings and back renovating the place......a bloody nightmare!.....altho all is good now that I haven't been for a cpl years :)

I'm guessing the "hottest May on record" thread sort of fizzled out then bunbury? Or was that only in Stratford Upon Heaven?

the long range forecasters predicted a stinking hot summer, I had my suspicions , now they have changed their minds ....as long as I get a few beers in ....a couple of rounds of golf a week ....a good craic ...and the odd bit of sun , oh and the world cup I couldn't care less

ps ......as I have said before ...its generally wetter , but milder .....and the rain is tropical in its intensity ...it heats up , then pisses down , as it did in the black country the other day ....I have had to have my pond pumps on stand by all spring ......in case my ponds overflow .....an inch of rain in no time the other week ...still a lot of standing water about ...a lot of flash flooding on the way

I've just spent a month back in the UK and the vibrancy was brilliant, the abundance of busy pubs, chip shops, kebab houses, plus the weather was great. The human interactions are better than anywhere in Australia, let alone Canberra...which can be pretty cool and distant because it's so spread out and clinical. That in turn affects the local economy and availability of services....there just isn't the density of people in Canberra to support British and European style availability of goods and services, but then neither does anywhere else in Oz have that ability either.

Would I ever go back and live in the UK? Not a chance. I saw more traffic jams in one day than I've done in two years here, couldn't park the car anywhere, get in or out of supermarket car parks. I couldn't even get on my parents drive because cars were parked over the road stopping the turn-in. A mate drove from Cornwall to Birmingham and it took 9 hours on the M5, another went down to Devon this weekend and didn't get there til 3 in the morning because of Glastonbury traffic blocking the motorway solid. The parks looked tatty, bin collections were all over the place, the footpaths are falling apart, potholes are just a part of life now, town centres are full of "poundlands" and charity shops.

Supermarkets were brilliant for boxed goods using euro transport networks....but the quality and variety of fresh goods and meats, especially beef, chicken, fish, pork and lamb weren't a patch on Australia. They simply don't have enough of the top quality to provide to the everyday population.

It's not going to get any better over there. Building work has picked up and a few guys are earning again, but the money goes into their pockets for kids clothes and not to support the public infrastructure or services. It's definitely going down the American political route of a greater rich - poor divide. If you live in the south east, London or the countryside, you'll be ok. Provincial towns, especially in the Midlands and North are just stagnating and concentrating on cosmetic spin to pretend it's improving....there's not going to be any opportunity for a lot of these people to raise their living standards or become successful or rich. And i think that's the way the Government wants it to be....a successful London supported by the rest of the country, who they really don't give a toss about.

I did have a good time though, not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

My wife has just returned after 3 weeks there. Wasn't really a holiday as her Mum was ill and her first priority was looking after her and helping her Dad out a lot. She said the weather was good but her comments on the traffic echoed what Slean said above.
