  1. South West defo. Start at Bunbury and follow the coast all the way round to Esperance. We did it, in motels, and it was great. Sorry, can't recommend camps but, location wise, it's the best option. Don't bother with Kal. And going North is too much driving for what it is, was for me anyway.
  2. For me in Perth, spring and autumn are best. Weather is nice this time of year, pleasant in the day, nice and cool at night. Same for April/May. The summer is too hot really and the winter is a bit miz and cold.

    Dog friendly?

The weather was half decent last weekend and 1 of my dogs (smaller) was feeling it already. The both of them hate the summer, sleep all day. I leave the a/c on for them when I go out. Obvs, they don't want to go walking or driving or sitting under a table either. As has been said, they can't go in shops, public transport, even National Parks. Usually, the bit of the pub you can go is the crap bit, there are some exceptions mind. Anyone ever been the Endeavour Tavern in Lancelin? When I didn't have a dog I kind of thought dogs had more rights than people. Now I have a couple of dogs, there are too many restrictions really.
  4. As said, if you own your home there are council rates like there are in the UK. Renting, no. Ours are $2,100 pa.
  5. No, I mean we repay over a much shorter period. The monthly figure makes the house look very expensive, it isn't, it's just a shorter repayment period.
  6. I'm in the process of getting a quote off Chess to move back next year and they do storage in Perth for $40 a week prior to shipping.
  7. Two dogs. You tend to get a discount for >1. We have always had the pool so I don't know any different. It is on 6 hours a day so I guess it is expensive. I BPAY $75/80 to Synergy (Leccy Board) every fortnight when I get paid and that takes care of it. Usually a touch in credit. We don't have kids so the pool doesn't even get used.
  8. Our health insurance is basics only. And we pay more mortgage than we need to.
  9. 3 adults, mother-in-law lives with us.
  10. We are in Joondalup. 4x2 house with pool.
  11. Our monthly outgoings, some aren't monthly bills, have pro-rated them.
  12. The recorder is the worst invention ever, worse than chemical weapons or asbestos or something. It's more a device of torture than a musical instrument, should be banned under the Geneva Convention.
  13. Those figures are more unbelievable than the ones in the $200k thread.
  14. The coastal property is very expensive around those locations. Hence, as mentioned, a lot of people move far North or South to live coastal. Obvs don't know your budget, but guessing you'd be talking 7 figures for a decent 5-person place.
  15. They should have a tiered rego system, introduce MOTs and make driving tests stricter. Can you imagine the bogan riots!! ?
  16. Yanchep to Butler is 15 mins doing the 80k speed limit. Trust me. Maybe a bit less even.
  17. Not quite that far. 15 mins drive to Butler then 40 mins Butler to Perth on train. Moot point though as noticed that OP will not be in Yanchep long-term.
  18. We live in Joondalup but have in-laws in Butler, Quinns and Mindarie. We actually put a deposit on a block in Yanchep but it fell through after the builder tried to rip us off. To be honest, in hindsight we were glad; it's just too far out and there isn't enough there in terms of amenities. You've basically got the Lagoon, the National Park (with Inn) and Woolworths, that's it. Anything else you need and you're driving. I think they are extending the train to Yanchep, not sure about the freeway (doubt it), but if you drive then you'll be sat in the car a lot. Not keen on Two Rocks. OK to go fishing, wouldn't live there, too bogan.
  19. We brought everything. In fact, we've been here nearly 11 years and there are still 1 or 2 boxes in the garage that we haven't fully unpacked. Funny thing is we are moving back to the UK early next year and I bet the Mrs takes them back!
  20. My wife works with an Italian bloke who grows everything himself, has chickens, the lot. He gives her loads of veggies and eggs and the difference in taste between what he gives us and what you buy from the shops is unreal. We had more eggs last week and they're taste sensations. The problem is, when we have to revert to shop bought ones, they're bland as hell. It's really made me think seriously about growing our own stuff. For taste reasons as well as avoiding nasties like preservatives.

    VPN

I have used Nord VPN although I find a lot of the servers actually make my speed worse.
  22. Those baby goats are beyond beautiful.
