  1. Maybe cancel it and redo. Got the visa approved within the hour for my mother in law to come (unfortunately)
  2. Simple really......you will never know unless you try. No point worrying about people moving back to the UK because there reasons for leaving may not even bother you. It will have changed here from when you where here last and it will be totally different from backpacking to living here. We came out June 2020 and never looked back really. Is it a million times better than the UK, not really its just different. Weather is non comparable though and you can spend alot more time outdoors, my girls love here and they would choose Aus over UK anyday.
  3. Strange we got our visa within the hour, hopefully you hear soon
  4. I can understand why people do it and I think it's nice and easy and you have more things in common. I always thought the same in the UK when Muslims set up there own communities and it would be hard for most to integrate as they don't speak English. For us personally though we will make friends with whoever.
  5. We have had a totally different experience to you. The people we have met have been brilliant and can't seem to do enough for us. I think the problem is if you have had life long friends at home and gone through many stages of life together then you will probably struggle to find friendships like that no matter where you go.
  6. School fees, being eligible for centrelink payments and yes personally it would just be security for me. As Marisa says if you were to come on temporary visa then the goal posts move and you couldn't get PR it would mean uprooting the kids again and potentially having to go home again.
  7. Have a check online because I thought they were fast tracking certain trades with nurses being one of them. Personally if you have kids I would want to be coming over on a PR visa. If you are sponsored by a company have you got to stay employed by them also?
  8. I did mine at the end Nov start of Dec and both done within the week.
  9. Hiya We got our E651 approved within the hour and the travel exemption within the week for my mother in law. Did you have to submit any evidence?
  10. I've just gone with both haha, it's still the same for the kids and that's all that matters really
  11. 20 - 25 mins in the morning then 30mins coming home. I leave at 7 and come home at 4 so depending on what time it may take a little longer but not much. Seaton may not be too bad from Hallett but Prospect will have the traffic with going closer to the city.
  12. You do hear the planes but we have never really found it to be an issue, we are probably just far away from it. Most of the suburbs just feel the same to me to be honest around here, although as you go north of the city they don't seem to feel as nice to me. So it would just be down to public or private schools to me. I work just south of Hallett Cove and the commute really doesn't feel to bad as traffic is nothing like the UK. I even cycle 3 days a week.
  13. As llessur has said if you go public then you need to look at school catchment zones which are on the South Aus school website. If you go private then you don't need to worry about catchment zones. Alot of the private schools here are nothing like what private schools are like in the UK. Private primary schools will set you back about $3000 a school year, then the private high schools will start around $7000 a school year. We have put both of ours into public schools and they are pretty much what you would expect from a public school in the UK. We are currently renting in North Plympton, 10min to the city and 10min to the beaches. Plenty of parks and cycle paths for the kids.
  14. Are you looking at public or private schools for the kids?
  15. I know what you mean, xmas was my favourite time of the year when living in the UK. Xmas just doesn't have the same feel here.
  16. Hi Nat a little late but just seen your post. We left the UK last June and nothing has changed from when you were a kid regarding schooling. Primary school the kids won't need a laptop or anything, the schools will have computers. High school maybe but that's just because alot of work is done on these, these days. Most schools in the UK are government schools, if your kid was bright then you would look at a grammar school which is still government.
  17. I don't think any of this can be put on the daughter, as at the end of the day we all brought our kids here and expected them to adjust to there new life in Australia. The daughter does have a choice though and it's either follow her parents back to the UK or she sets up on her own here and doesn't put any guilt on her parents if they choose to go back to the UK without her.
  18. Which state were you looking at going to? If that state is sponsoring for your occupation then the 190 may be better, same as a 189 but you have to stay in that state for 2yrs.
  19. Applied for the E651 and it has been approved within the hour, just waiting on the exemption being approved.
  20. Yeah the string of letters will be your TRN, mine is 9 letters and 1 number.
  21. I've been trying to submit an E651 visa for my mother in law (against my will) haha but it's saying that an error has occurred and the page can't be displayed. Has anyone else had this?
  22. We made the move last June with 2 kids and we are loving it. You still have to work 5 days a week but come the weekend it can feel like you are on holiday. People are out and about every where and there is loads of things to do for the kids. You get alot more provided to you by the councils here, with new well maintained parks around where as in the UK (or atleast where we lived) the parks are few and far between, old with broken glass around from the teenagers getting pissed up the night before. The kids love it and we definitely feel like it is a nicer environment for them to grow up in. Also the girls usually got a nasty cough during winter where as here they haven't been ill once. There are good points and bad points about living here but If you feel like it's something you want to experience then you should go for it. Yes it costs money but atleast there are no what ifs in 20 years time. Will we be here forever, I don't know, we just take it as it comes.
  23. Plenty of people migrate to Aus for the 1st time older than you. You have the advantage of being here before and having a job to come to.
