  1. We are in SA, me,wife and my 3 daughters (1 born here) we came June 2020 and so far so good. We originally looked at Brisbane but the points for a 189 visa went up so went with a 190 in SA as my job (metal fabricator) wasn't on the QLD list.
  2. Will the birth certificate not be proof of citizenship? I only ask as we are both PR and had our daughter in January and I didn't think we would need anything else to prove citizenship for her.
  3. Will the birth certificate not be proof for a passport?
  4. That's a shame, have you checked other states out yet?
  5. I thought they updated there lists regularly, just check out the other states occupation lists and see how they are looking as back up.
  6. Just checked the queensland occupation list and it does show your husbands job open for offshore applicants 190 & 491.
  7. Hi Easiest way is to look at each states list and then decide between which states are open for that line of work.
  8. Good stuff, its a funny game AFL im a little more used to it now. Good look tomorrow
  9. All good mate, you all settled in now? That's the one and very repetitive haha
  10. Which state have you applied for and which do you prefer?
  11. There is a big big form for you to fill in during your application (can't remember the name) which will ask alot of details. The places visited will be to the best of your knowledge. Regarding my wages I just submitted my final wage slips for each year, there were a few things I missed along the way but immigration just requested the extra information but delays your application slightly. Your HAP ID number is given to you so that you can complete your medicals, I just waited for around 6 months into the process until doing police checks and medicals.
  12. You can check out immitracker for any movement (if you haven't already)
  13. There is also PTE, I did the IELTS and got the score I needed easy enough. Do some practice papers first though and atleast you can see what will happen on the day. As Marisa has said though it's definitely worth getting an assessment done by an agent just to makesure that it is all achievable.
  14. Hi mate Have you looked at a 190 visa? You wouldn't need as many points as a 189 so more likely to get it. You would still most likely have to do the English test though.
  15. Brought my TVs and had no issues.
  16. Hiya There are alot less properties up for rent due to people deciding to sell up as prices have gone through the roof. Some of our friends got kicked out of there rental but have managed to find another one. The rentals in the zones for the best public schools will be the hardest to get. If you haven't got kids or are going private then this won't be an issue. I'm sure you'll find something but worse case it may not be quite what you want.

6 months in Adelaide, I rented in the UK but that was 20 yrs ago and we never had an inspection in the 2yrs of living there and that was with a local agent. 6 months would be adequate I would have thought.

Just go for it Ruth what have you got to lose. You will always question if its the right the thing to do or not, so your only way of knowing is by doing it. We (Me,Wife and 2 daughters 10 & 4) moved to Adelaide June 2020 and have never looked back. As Marisa says no one country is better than the other, they are just different. We had never been to Aus but I've always fancied it for some reason from being a kid. No family here but have got friends that emigrated to other states so just thought that if they can do it why can't I. We could have easily not moved and just blamed it on covid but the thought of not moving was my biggest driving force as I didn't want to end up like alot of the guys I worked with in there 50s saying I wish I'd have tried that. Your only here once so make the most of it, if you come and don't like it then you move back. You will lose a chunk of cash but will have no what ifs later on in life which to me is priceless.
  19. You can get your medical and police checks done if you want, the only problem is that they are only valid for 12months so if that times passes waiting for your visa you would have to do it again. We did our medicals in Manchester, all very straight forward and very basic for my kids. Eye test, weight, height and checked there joints.
  20. Unfortunately the worry doesn't end until you actually receive your visa. You could do all the paperwork then fail a medical etc.
  21. It is daunting and it will be right until you get on that plane. We have all loved it since getting here, there's pros and cons but overall more pros. The advantage for you is that if it doesn't work out your costs aren't as significant as someone like myself who has paid for everything.
  22. Never had a relocation package but anything you can get is a bonus. 1 months accommodation will save you around $5000 and the car hire around $5000 also. Congratulations and no excuses now
  23. Definitely not haha we hoped she may have changed with not seeing the grandkids for so long, she had but gone even worse.
  24. Didn't go well at all, she planned for a 1 month visit and remember she hasn't seen us for nearly 2 yrs. After 4 days she wanted to go home but managed to stay 2 weeks . She came with the holiday attitude and wanted to be out drinking at night, not really interested in her grandchildren unfortunately.
