  1. Hi Lambo, I came to Adelaide last year with my wife and kids as a metal fabricator. There is plenty of work around Adelaide for metal fabricators, although alot of it is for structural steel welders. Where are you looking at going?
  2. We flew with Qatar and they were spot on. They have kept going through all the covid issues.
  3. Is there not blank pages at the end of the questionnaire to put more info on?
  4. Very annoying, a few lads i worked with did it. They got £7000 paid to them twice, they argued that there earnings had gone down because they only worked 50hrs a week instead of 55hrs haha
  5. All the UK is bothered about is the economy and the NHS not getting overrun. Which is stupid because the way they have handled it has probably been a bigger blow to the economy than if they had shut the borders. The money they are dishing out to people is ridiculous, the big payments being given to self employed even though alot of them are still managing to work. We came to Aus Jun2019 and so glad that we made the move and my kids are able to get an education and free to get out and about. Everyone's circumstances are different but there is no way that I would even contemplate moving to the UK at this time.
  6. Got to see a bandicoot today, not sure how common they are.
  7. Your licence is issued whilst you are there. Medicare we did online as I did it when we were in our 2nd lot of qaurantine in our airbnb. I think it took about 3 weeks for the cards to arrive, but you are covered immediately. You can go into the offices which are dotted about though, but I'm not sure if they are issued whilst you are there, or you still have to wait. Also your daughter may need some vaccinations before she can start school. My girls needed hep b (I think) they don't give it in the UK but they do here. Also if your daughter has never had chicken pox, she will need an injection for that here.
  8. If its just the licence you need then your airbnb will be fine. We were in our airbnb for 6weeks so used that address for everything. When you move you must notify the licence agency and they will send you a sticker to place over your old address. You must pay for your licence also, we only did a 12month one which was $60. You can do a 10yr one i think which works out cheaper. The offices you go to are next to the marion shopping centre.
  9. We used our airbnb, and the owner kindly forwarded mail for us when we moved. You just have to change address within 14days when you move. The driving license is issued when you are at the offices.
  10. Have a look at Hamilton holden on brighton Road. Its only 2min down the road from Glenelg and they have a good selection. We bought our car from there and so far so good.
  11. You are allocated a hotel and that is it, we where lucky that we got adjoining rooms so the kids had one and we had one. We know a couple who came just before xmas with 2 kids and they only got given one room. After having a word with the management they got given a 2nd room.
  12. Thats the spirit, it's really not that bad, and in 10days time you are free to start your new life. We spent the 1st week getting over jet lag
  13. So the last part of the plan has just been completed, my wife has just been given her uni place to start training to be a nurse
  14. Hi Emma it is all a distant memory now haha. $3000 per adult then another $1000 per adult in the room.
  15. It's really not that bad. Is it ideal no, but its 2 weeks just take the time to unwind and relax.
  16. Exactly we knew what we where doing and it was well worth it. We as a family didnt mind it really, it gave us chance to unwind and get some more research done. We are used to spending time together as a family so it didnt really change anything. We are just grateful that we are here really, our original plan was to come in the Sept not July. If we had stuck to that we may still be in the UK
  17. Our windows were locked, suppose it stops people jumping out of them haha
  18. I dont like the idea of having no windows. You are treated as if you have it, but that's understandable and I'm sure the hotel staff are terrified (apart from the ones who tried sleeping with passengers) . We got a knock on the door when our food arrived, and by the time we opened the door, who ever dropped it off had disappeared. It saved us having 2 rooms really.
  19. I just filled mine in best I could. Nothing was ever said about it, so not sure how much they check on it.
  20. We moved end of june with 2 young girls 10 & 4 and the qaurantine wasnt bad at all, and we did 4 weeks altogether. Its 2 weeks out of the rest of your life . Also the way things are, I know where I would rather live.
  21. Have they not got you isolated from the rest of the world though
  22. I think most apprenticeships lead to permanent jobs in the UK. Did my apprenticeship and stayed 22yrs until moving to Aus this year. We took on 2 - 3 each year. Best way to get people and shape them to what you expect from an employee.
