  1. Hello, I have received a positive skills assessment from ACS for my 3 years of work experience. They however deducted 2 of those years in order to deem me as skilled. I believed I could only claim EOI points for 1 of those years but I've seen this video which says this is not the case and they include this immigration department policy, just wondered what people's thoughts were on this as I am now confused on how many points I can claim? At around the 3:25 mark he specifically mentions ACS and how they deduct these years but I should still be able to claim EOI points for my whole 3 years. Here is the immigration department policy included in the video:
  2. Hello, I'm just about to submit an EOI for Western Australia 190. I'd like to know what documents they are going to need from me. I checked South Australia's migration site for an example and it says they require evidence of my work experience including salary so I'm wondering if Western Australia will likely ask for the same? I didn't ask my previous employers to include salary in their references as it wasn't required for my skills assessment. Is Western Australia likely to need my salary information for my work experience or will I be alright to apply anyway as I have everything else required like dates of employment, job title, duties etc? It was quite hard to get evidence from my old employers and I imagine it will be quite difficult to get them all to re-send my references again with my salary included this time.
  3. I'm looking for ways to increase my EOI points and found out I can get +5 if I pass a CCL test. I'm from UK and am a native English speaker but can speak some German. Could I take this test or is it not meant for native English speakers?
  4. Hi I'm trying to working out how many EOI points I am eligible for. I have 3 years experience in my nominated occupation from working in the UK. I had a consultation with an agent but was confused when they said I would receive 0 points for my 3 years experience? They said the skills assessment body would take 2 years off to deem me as skilled therefore leaving me with 1 year to claim points on? This doesn't sound right to me. When I put in 3 years of work experience in the EOI points calculator on the Australian Government website it says I am eligible for 5 points. I should be able to claim for all of my experience shouldn't I?
  5. I am having great difficulty at the very first hurdle of the PR visa application which is obtaining proof of my identity for the ACS skills assessment. Since December 2021 they now require 3 forms of identification which must be government issued. I was born in the UK and have a valid UK passport and driving licence but I cannot provide a third identification document as they will not accept the short form birth certificate I have and will not accept the certified copy of the full birth certificate I received from government. Looking at the list of the only other government issued IDs none of them apply to me, I mean I could apply for a shotgun licence but that can take months and is pretty ridiculous just to get ID from the country I was born in. National ID cards were scrapped in 2011 and I can't get an EEA card anymore as we are no longer in the EU. Can anyone offer advice? Are there any MARA agents who might be able to help and take my case forwards?
  6. Are you sure? ACS application guidelines says "Please DO NOT submit: Certified true copies of original document" and right at the top (and bottom) of the birth certificate I ordered it says "Certified to be a true copy of an entry in the certified copy of a register at births..."
  7. I've just come across https://www.citizencard.com do you think ACS will accept this or not? I have contacted them directly but they take so long to reply.
  8. Thanks for this recommendation, I did end up ordering one from the UK gov website. It's just arrived and it's a certified copy of the original. ACS do not accept certified copies of original documents for their skills assessments. I've only got the original short birth certificate which is not a valid form of ID. I'm a bit lost on what I can do now.
  9. I'm a UK citizen, I only have my passport and driving licence. I'm a bit stumped as to what I can use for my ACS skills assessment as they require 3 forms of ID. Not really sure what else I can give, can anyone help?!
  10. That's a great idea. I've never applied for a mortgage before, is this definitely something a lender would ask for?
  11. I'm close to applying for my ACS skills assessment, I've got my reference from my previous employer along with my bank statement/tax records. All that's left is to get the reference from my current job which I hadn't even considered until now. Coincidentally I am actually looking for a new job currently but I'm not actually looking to leave the UK for a year or two depending on how long my 190 will take. How do I get proof of my experience at my current job without them getting the idea i'm leaving? Should I be concerned about losing my job if I ask them? Should I perhaps just wait until I have a new job before I ask for a reference?
  12. The points were calculated from the agency I used after I sent them my CV. I have 3 years in software development since graduating in 2018. I was also very confused when I received 0 points and would be grateful for clarification from anyone. Very confused!
  13. I have 3 years experience in software dev, but was scored 0 by an agent in this category as they remove X number of years to deem me as skilled? Not really sure, but I have 0 point nonetheless. I'm also not sure if this means only work experience in Australia or not, of which I have none. I am very confused!
  14. Hi all - this is my first post. It's a massive dream of mine to go to and hopefully live in Australia. I've contacted a couple of migration agencies who have both told me different things. The first one I spoke with for about 30 minutes which ultimately ended in disappointment when they said I probably wouldn't be able to migrate under my current circumstances. I've since spoken to a different agency who have worked out my points to be either 70/80 depending on how I perform in my English test. They've quoted me £4200 for the whole process, excluding visa application fee and all my test fees but they have said I may be eligible for a 190 state nomination visa which I was initially pretty excited to hear. My points were worked out to be this: Age: 30 points (will drop to 25 when I turn 33 in July 2022) English language: 10/20 depending on IELTS/PTE performance Qualifications (degree): 15 Overseas work experience: 0 State sponsorship: 5 Partner (n/a): 10 Total: 70/80 I am extremely wary of handing over a very large sum of money to this agency when the first one I contacted said it was not worth applying. I'm hoping if someone here can help and tell me what my chances really are of achieving permanent residency especially in these strange covid times? I'm also aware that I will lose 5 points when I turn 33 which has got me worried about if I'm going to make it at all. My occupation is currently on the priority skills list (software developer) and I have 3 years experience however I am not sure if that helps me at all for the 190 visa. So if anyone who has been through this before or can offer any advice for my circumstances, or even a recommendation on a good, trustworthy agent that would be so helpful, thank you.
