  1. My thoughts exactly. I'm not going anywhere til November/December but I just want it so I know it's there! The wait is nerve wrecking! Come on DP...
  2. I hope it does come through early! Looking at going the end of November. The police check and medicals are valid for 12 months and you have to activate the visa before they expire, so add long as it's before next April. I'll keep you posted! Xx
  3. Just an update guys... no official news from my CO however I contacted or agent this week for an update. She doesn't want to get our hopes up too much but she thinks or visa will be approved sooner than we expected. Woop woop... Giddy kipper!
  4. When we went to London to get our sons passport, we sat in front of a booth, handed over our documents, he smiled then photocopied or papers, then handed them back and said or sons passport would be in the recorded mail within 3 weeks. A long train ride with a 10month old for 10mins in Australia House! But we made the day of it by visiting the sights as I had never been before! Xx
  5. Hi Aussiegirl, I'm from Yorkshire too and looked into several agents before deciding on The Emmigration Group. They're not based in Yorkshire but I would highly recommend them. Xx
  6. Hi Pookie72, here are the rest of the details from me, CO... DP, spouse visa 309/100. Thanks for the list, good idea. Like that I'm finally heading up to the top of the list! Woop woop! Xx
  7. I have DP... We are using an agent therefore everything goes through the agent first but they assure me that everything is going fine. Applied 6th October last year. So I'm hoping to be granted in August. Good luck. X
  8. Look at seven seas move cube, could be okay for you. Also you can set up bank accounts from the UK, you just need to validate them when you arrive. Most banks will allow you to do this. Good luck.
  9. Hi Jen44, I too was worried about our application. In a committed relationship with my Aussie partner for 6 years but only moved in together 14 months before I sent my application. I was worried that we wouldn't have enough evidence to submit as my name only appeared on few household bills etc. But our agent sorted everything and said that she wouldn't submit our application until she was 99% positive it would be approved. We are almost 8 months in now, medicals and police check submitted and I still feel a little pang of worry although I know everything is legitimate and we'll under way. Good luck.
  10. By the sounds of things, I was lucky to get AHPRA Registration (back in 2010) as a DipHE trained nurse. Moving to Brisbane in December with my Aussie partner and our son. Just renewed my AHPRA registration so hoping to find work as soon as my spouse visa is granted. Good luck to everyone who is trying to get their registration.
  11. Can anyone shed any light on medicare? Can anyone advise Web pages/links that could explain medicare in more detail? How it works, where to apply, costs etc. Thanks in advance.
  12. 7 months down... let's hope, only 3 more to go. This being patient lark is hard work!
  13. Isn't it strange how we women all do this... I also have done the same! Started with new knickers/boxers for each of us, bras, then progressed to my son's clothes/pj's etc! I bought 4 pairs of flip flops (thongs) in last summer's sale! Getting excited! Xx
  14. Hi guys, searching for some info... I am currently 7 months into my 'wait' for my spouse visa, I am also a registered nurse and will be working as a nurse once I arrive in Oz later this year. I have already got my registration with AHPRA, will I need to do a skills assessment also? I'm confused as to whether the skills assessment only applies to the skilled independent visa applicants or if it's anyone intending to work as a nurse??? Any info will be greatly received! Thanks Jackie
  15. How hard is it?! Lol. Our house has just sold, and received the contract at the weekend. We're packing up to move in with the folks, then packing up to take it across there! I'm planning a bit of a bucket list for before we go! I'm so excited but nervous too. Have you guys picked a location yet? We're moving to Cleveland, the Redlands is beautiful area. Xx
  16. Hi Stacey, Moving to Redlands area in late November/early December with my Aussie partner and our 20 month old son. This forum is great for keeping your spirits up, the wait is hard but it is great reading people's updates and generally chatting! I'm rather impatient and want things yesterday but our time will come round very soon. Good luck with the move! Jackie
  17. I agree, interesting to read. Myself, Aussie partner and 20 month old son will be making the move this year, and things are staying to become more real and some doubts are lurking but I think it is only natural to have some reservations. Will our life be better in oz? I don't know but I don't want to be sitting here in 10 years time wondering what if! We have to give things a go. My partner and I have agreed to have a 5 year trial and if we are not happy then, we'll look at returning to the UK. God luck everyone. X
  18. My medical includes them all and it's £340 (in manchester) but you can check our individual prices on the hospitals Web page. The immigration website has details of all approved medical centres. Do your homework on costs at different places as they all charge different. The difference in cost from the 2 hospitals in Manchester was over £120!
  19. Ooh is all so exciting! I love reading them too!xx
  20. Apex car hire are great. Had dealings with them last year and great service, reasonable price and car seat was perfect. Request it on your booking and away you go!
  21. We're also looking at Cleveland, Alexandra Hills, Wellington Point area. My partner grew up in Cleveland and I also have family there. We checked out Cleveland state school in November and were impressed. Xx
