  1. That's great news JonnoM, wish you the best in your new life down under! P.s. keep posting, any info on living down under will be greatly appreciated!
  2. My Aussie partner and I travelled to Brisbane last October to research our options. The trip definitely helped us decide where we want to live. We had a strict timetable to stick to but still managed to enjoy some time out too. I would recommend this if you have never been before. We needed this trip to help us and I've been 4 times before! But... It is a big expense and we are working really hard to replace the money we spent to be able to move in December!
  3. I am a Registered Nurse, currently still in the UK, but also registered with AHPRA. I got my registration in 2010 and had to do the IELT'S test to get my registration despite being English and having an English degree. I didn't have to go in person to an Australian office to finalise anything. My partner and I are moving to Australia in December (spouse 309/100 visa) will I need to complete a skills assessment before I can work?
  4. Fingers crossed... my medical is on 17th April so I'm hoping for 4 months from then!
  5. I was told I could book my medical from 16 th April. Booked it at the end of Feb, for 17th April in Manchester. Xx
  6. Hi lollipop1804, You're roughly the same as me... Application lodged on 6th October 2014, medical/police check on 17th April, not heard anything from really. I'm trying to be patient, but it's hard! When and where are you looking at going?
  7. Super excited now, if the sequence follows suit that means I could have my visa in August! Totally agree, the forum is great (only have a slight obsession with it)!!!! God luck with the rest of your Aussie dream. [emoji2]
  8. I totally agree. We had the estate agent out last week, think we will put it straight on the market after my medical. Also had crown relocations out last week, they advised packing up in July if we wanted our furniture in Oz for December! That doesn't give us long to sell the house! Grrr... ?
  9. We are going through the same decisions at the minute. Got my medical in 4 weeks time but we don't know what to do with our house. Put it on the market now or wait?! It's hard, although we wouldn't be stuck on having somewhere to live. Hoping to be away early December! ???
  10. Hi, I'm in the same boat as you too. I applied 13 days after you. My medicals are in April. I'm trying to stay positive and hope they are feeling generous and issue the visa in 10 months!
  11. Oh that's fantastic! Hope for us newbies yet then!? Wishing you all the luck, book those flights and head to the sun! [emoji295] [emoji475]
  12. Only contact I've had is to organise medical and police check. I know it's a long process but I'm impatient!
  13. Registration with AHPRA is a long process, took about 5 months altogether when I did mine back in 2010. Had to do the IELTS too, which was harder than I thought!
  14. I've got ages to wait and I'm constantly checking on here for updates from people! Xx
  15. Hi mmck33, I'm Jackie. Moving to the Redlands area, just south of Brisbane (hopefully in October this year). My partner grew up in Cleveland, a beautiful coastal town about 40 mins south of Brisbane. We're heading to that area after a reccy trip in November confirmed that's where we wanted to be. Hope you find a suitable place for your family. Xx
  16. Lol into The Emmigration Group also, they do expo's too. I so far have been very impressed with their help and services. Good luck. Xx
  17. Hi Donna, I am using an agent, out of curiosity, who have you had quotes from? Tbh, we decided to use an agent as we have a young child, I had just started a new job that I needed to focus on and I was worried about getting it wrong and delaying things even longer. So to me the fees were/are worth the money. Depends on your quote, I spotted around and found an agent almost £500 cheaper than the rest with a very good reputation. Xx
  18. Oh that's lovely! I'm new to these forum things too but it's been lovely reading posts finding out how people are getting on in their plans. Do you have any advice re shipping? That's my next big step (medicals booked in for early April). What visa did you go for? X
