  1. Hey guys, i just wanted to share the timeline of a friend who just applied for her and her partner's 189 Visa. Having been through the process myself recently, I helped them with the application. They were both on a 485 visa already in Melbourne. Accountant (General) 221111 - 60 points EOI Submission: 3 May 2013 Invitation: Round 20 May 2013 Application Date: 22 May 2013 Medical exam: 28 May 2013 Case officer allocated: 13 June 2013 (GSM Adelaide Team 6 CO CLC) Request document or info: 13 June 2013 ( requesting form 80 ) Form 80 uploaded: 16 June 2013 Grant Notification: 18 June 2013 Visa was granted in under 1 month since application date. CPA assessment, Police checks were done prior to EOI submission. Everything was uploaded apart from Form 80 upon application. And medical was uploaded by examination centre using eHealth. Good luck to all those waiting for a response and thanks to all users and regulars of pomsinoz.
  2. ! I was granted in April and had till 31st Dec 2013 to validate my visa! Hope this helps!
  3. Its the last step when you are about to submit the application, enter your credit card details for $3060! Then you'll be directed to the online portal with a list of docs you have to upload. If you have your PCC, you can upload it there too. There will also be a link to organise your health examinations. Good Luck.
  4. If you are applying outside Australia, it is suggested you wait after applying for the visa according to the website. However a lot of us, apply before hand as they are a lengthy process as you said. I would wait till at least after getting invited. Also know that, once allocated, the COs know that sometimes it takes longer than 28days to provide such documents and they do accept proof that you are attempting to acquire such clearances such as receipts until you get it.
  5. I just checked my visa grant notice email and it said in case of change of passport details to use Form 929 and sent to the nearest office. http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/929.pdf I think if you sent them the new details now, it should be updated and the system. Also just keep a copy of this form after you have completed it with you for your reference and print out a copy when you are flying out. Hope this helps!

    Eligibility

I graduated in 2011 from an Australian university with 6 months work experience in Australia. I wasn't able to claim any points because I didn't have a min of 1 year. Which meant I had pretty much no experience and was still able to get my qualification assessed and recognised by Engineers Australia (EA). I applied and got granted with no experience. I got to mention though that my adv. diploma and honours degree were both courses that were entirely accredited and governed by EA. You should be okay as long as you have your qualifications have been assessed positive for skilled migration purposes!
  7. Hey mate! If you completed your masters in London, it shouldn't be a problem as long as your qualifications have been positively assessed by the relevant authorities for skilled migration purposes. However if you had completed your course in Australia for a min of 2 years, you would have been able to claim an extra 5 points thanks to the Australian Study Requirement. I assume, to be eligible, you must have a min. of 8 band score in each of the modules of IELTS to be able to claim 20pts with Superior English?? Hope this helps!
  8. If all goes got you should receive your grant in 2 to 3 weeks even earlier!
  9. Adelaide is really fast and My CO was really good at responding to emails within hours. 5 to 6 months is only when medicals get referred. As long as your have all you documents uploaded and everything, you should be assigned a CO reasonably fast. I know an immigration lawyer who reckons the more organised your application is, the quicker you get assigned a CO. Not sure how much of that is accurate though. Good Luck!
  10. Hey guys, I did notice, around the time my medicals were accepted, the link that says "Organise your health examination" disappeared. Even though, the actual status stayed the same. I think that's a good indication. hope the wait isn't too long now. Good luck!
  11. Hey Guys, I'm helping a friend with her visa application. She has 2 options. 189 Independent (60 points) or 489 Sponsored by her sister who has citizenship (70 points) Personally i'm not a big fan of the 489 as it is not permanent and last for 4 years and have some restrictions where she can work, etc.. Anyone out there who had 60 points and how long did it take you guys to get an invite once you submitted an EOI for 189? She's running out of time as her current visa will expire soon. Any help is much appreciated.
  12. When my CO asked for additional docs, that was in the email: - GSM Adelaide accepts scanned copies. If possible, please provide colour scanned copies of original documents. If you are unable to colour scan documents, please ensure that the documents you scan are certified copies. If you send us a scan of the original document, we can accept PDF, JPEG, TIFF or BMP file formats, although we prefer that it be in PDF format. Hope this helps.
  13. Very foolish really. But some people do it to buy themselves time. His case is now with the Migration Review Tribunal (MRT) and that takes months and you are allowed to remain in Australia till a decision is made..
  14. Thanks mate. Not sure really. The guy who got his approved in 5 weeks had uploaded all his docs including PCC and meds...
  15. Thanks mate. Good luck with the process!
  16. Correct. You need the reference number while submitting an EOI. When you apply for the visa (after being invited), you only need to upload a scanned coloured copy or a certified black and white copy. Your CO will be able to match your scores with the IELTS database that they have access to through the reference number. I actually know a guy who faked his IELTS scores and got done for it big time! Hope this helps.
  17. Cannot tell really! Some people got their visa approved in 5 weeks, some in 10weeks. Others longer. It mostly depends on the case at hand.
  18. Just received THE email! Visa Granted 1 day short of 10 weeks since application.! So relieved! Back to Melbourne end of next week! Good luck to those still waiting! Hopefully yours will follow soon!

  20. Just ask the CO if you already have one. They are pretty good at replying. I sent an email last night asking if my meds have been received and this morning she emailed back saying meds have been finalised on the system. The "organise your health exams" section has been gone for a few days now. All docs received even though I noticed my passport details still say "required" even though I uploaded it twice and I can see that as the documents provided. Just playing the waiting game now I guess. Hopefully by the end of the week! I'm Team 07 from GSM Adelaide by the way...
  21. You don't necessarily need any experience. Skill select is designed so that people with either experience and/or a qualification become eligible to apply. When you fill out the application, you will be asked to list all your work experience for the last 10yrs (from memory). You will also be asked if you are claiming points from the listed work experience. I am a graduate and was invited to apply even though I only had 6months engineering work experience.
