1. Hi there just wondered why are you considering the bridging course if you have a degree?? I think that is just for diploma qualified nurses. You can apply to aphra when you have your nmc pin regards
2. Hi Toolbox I am moving over next year with the family I will have about 6 months experience, are you aware if St Andrews take on with that amount of experience? We already have permanent residency. I have been offered a UK job in ICU and start in September so my 6 months post qualified expeirence will be specialist. any help would be appreciated. regards
3. SA Health are currently advertising for an ICU nurse but not sure about the sponsorship availability.
4. The furthest my cat will 'wander' at night is from the window sill to the food bowl, I never allow her to go out at night time because I am fully aware that this is when cats will hunt. I am a responsible cat owner, the thought of her killing wildlife is horrendous, please do not judge me to not care about wildlife whether that be in the UK or Australia.
5. Thank you for this, much more useful than the previous poster!!!
6. Whilst I appreciate everyone is entitled to their own opinion please do not call my cat vermin. She is not vermin. Unfortunately I would not be able to leave her anywhere safe away from wildlife because we are surrounded by wildlife. she hardly ever goes out as she prefers to sit on the window sill, she wears a bell on her collar to alert the birds if she's about and we also back onto a lake and she has NEVER brought anything back . I created this post for advice on what is the best thing to do for my cat who has been in my life from being 12 weeks old not to be lectured to about cats killing wildlife.
7. Thankyou for the replies. I couldn't leave her with someone I didn't know and had hoped my parents would look after her but sadly not. Bob if we decide to take her through your company would you be able to assist me with all of the things I would need to do? We are leaving in April next year. thanks
8. Hi as the above says really, she is nearly 11 is very skitty and shy and was badly mistreated as a kitten before I rescued her. I am worried how the journey will affect her. also could anyone advise of the cost of shipping for her? I have no idea how much the cost would be. any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance
9. p.s if, eventually, you do migrate to Oz, and successfully obtain an ARTC, then currently, I believe it is still possible to do a course with PEER VEET in Adelaide, South Australia and after successfully completing their short course you can obtain an SA licence with no 'on the job' gap training, no log book. This licence can then be used to obtain another state licence, should you choose to live in another state, under the terms of the Mutual Recognition Act. Derren7. Has this recently changed? My oh has his ostr and has been told,he needs to complete gap training and then the log book, we are moving to SA.
10. Hi there I am in a similar situation to yourself. I also qualify sept next year fortunately though we have started the process as my partner is an electrician. Anyhow I spoke to AHPRA last week who told me that you do not require 3 months post qualified experience to register they do prefer it but it is not necessary. Also if you can prove you studied English at secondary school you do not need to do ielts. I would love to emigrate when I get my pin next year but tbh I think I may struggle to get a job with no post qualified experience so I'm thinking I will do my six month preceptorship before I go. Hope this helps. Regards
11. Hi there Just after some advice please. I'm due to qualify next year with a degree, hoping to do my six month preceptorship in ED. We are hoping to apply for a 190 visa through my partners occupation, we are currently at skills assessment stage. My questions are how much post qualified experience do I need to register with AHPRA and will I still need to do IELTS if I am not the main visa holder? Thank you in advance!
12. Hi kbounds, my oh assessment took approximately four weeks. I think it depends on your oh occupation. Mine is an electrician. regards
13. Hi, my oh has today received confirmation that he has passed stage one of the skills assessment. He is an electrician with 10 years practical experience. I have just gone on to the vet assess website to book his practical but London is now fully booked so we are left with Belfast 22/05/13. The problem is he is now having a coronary that its only three weeks away! He has his ielts booked for the 27th April and is worried it's all to much in a short space of time. Our problem is he turns 40 in September and we need to get our SS in. So my question is: can anyone please give us some advice on that the practical day entails? I have read somewhere that the formulas are on the back of the test sheet and that the motor circuit has the diagram to follow, is this correct? Does he really need to panic and what are the best things to revise or read up on? Any help will be most great fully received!!!!!
14. Hi, I've been on the website but can't find anything for free!! There are three options with $49.99 being the cheapest! Am I missing something!!? Thanks
15. Hi, just after different opinions please. My partner and I have all but settled on Adelaide to migrate to, but We are worried about the work situation. My partner is a qualified electrician with 10yrs experience and I qualify as a nurse next year so will have about 6 months post qualified experience when we migrate. We need state nomination and I'm unsure what to do. There does not seem to be many jobs advertised for our two professions in Adelaide but for Perth they appear plentiful. I'm aware that by the time we get there everything could have changed but we don't know whether to apply to WA for nomination as a 'safer' option work wise. Any words of wisdom!!? Thanks!
16.

Hi Paul, it would appear I can no longer send pm's too!!! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, I will be more than happy to help if I can, my email is donnahinch@hotmail.com.

17. How easy is it to get everything ready to apply for the first stage of skills assessment? We are using a migration agent for the visa part but wanted to save £600 +VAT for the skills assessment part by doing it ourselves!! Is it time consuming or fairly straight forward? Thanks
18. Hi there Just wondered if anyone has any experience re the above?? My partner and I are hoping to emigrate provided I can get a visa. I have been told by a few migration agents that I should be ok seeing as my conviction is nearly 20 years old. I just wondered if its possible to get a job as a registered nurse with a criminal record?? I am currently a student nurse and a bank hca I qualify next year. Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated!
19. Hi Thank you for all of your replies :-) I received a two year sentence and served 12 months. After four weeks I was granted a gate pass which allowed me to work outside of the prison on a farm. I will speak to Ian Harrop a migration agent tomorrow for his advice. If anyone can recommend any other good reputable migration agents I would appreciate it!
20. Hi there I'm new to the forum and looking for advice r.e the above!! My partner and I are seriously considering a move to WA with our 3 year old daughter. I'm a student nurse and he is an electrical engineer. We would most likely apply with my partner as the main visa applicant. However, nearly 20 years ago I was charged with possession with intent to supply. I have never dealt drugs and was charged because of the amount that I had, stupidly I carried 60 ecstasy tablets into a club for someone else. I received a 2 year custodial sentence and was released after a year. (Nowadays the same would probably attract no more than a suspended sentence) So that was nearly 20 years ago I have worked successfully ever since with a long career in aviation as cabin crew and now I am doing my nurse training as well as working as a healthcare assistant in a hospital. My question is does anyone have any advice or knowledge as to whether i will get refused a working visa . I know that because I received a custodial sentence of over 12 months I will not pass the character test but is that it? It was a long long time ago for which I am deeply ashamed and it bears no resemblance to the person that I am today, does anyone know how immigration work? will they look at how long ago the offence was and how I have rehabilitated myself since?? plus the fact that I am now doing my nurse training with full support from my university, hospital and the NMC. I read somewhere that if its over 10 years ago it becomes discounted?? sorry for all of the questions I am awaiting a phone call from a migration agent called Ian Harrop but wanted others views to. Any advice/comments greatly appreciated!!
