  1. Oh, you know what, i just found an entire thread. Never mind!
  2. What were your reasons for leaving if it's not too personal? Family back home in the UK? Or issues with Australia itself? Your jobs? Not what you expected? As someone spending a lot of time and money to get there, i would be interested in hearing how you feel. It's a big decision. Every insight helps
  3. You'd need to do the research to find out where HR jobs would be advertised online, but i've read of lots of people who have skype or telephone job interviews. Good luck.
  4. Because a heck of a lot more than 32 nurses have almost certainly applied. With a ceiling of over 1300 why do they not invite more people? 32 X 12 = 384. What's the point of the ceiling when they take so few people?
  5. Ooh noo, so we would both have to go through ANMAC to get those 5 extra points?? Even if i registered with APHRA? That's really dumb. We were really counting on those 5 extra points as well to bring us up to 75. How many points did you have? I heard nobody under 75 had been invited, is that right?
  6. Leaving his current job to go back clinical here in the UK that is.
  7. As I've said before, my husband and I are nurses. He will be the main applicant for a 189 PR visa. We have a billion questions because we want to be absolutely sure we are doing the right thing and know as many details as possible. My next question is about his skills. He has been qualified for 15 yrs plus. The past 4 years he has been none clinical and is currently a band 7. He's worried that because he hasn't been clinical for some time, his skills will not be verified. Prior to leaving the wards, he was a band 6 with experience of acting up to a band 7. I would really appreciate as many opinions as possible, and if at all possible, experience of someone who's been in a similar situation. We don't want to get out hopes up. Leaving his current job and returning to clinical is not really an option. Thanks. Kirsty
  8. If they're still available i'd like them please If not, where did you get them from? Are there different ones for the professional IELTS?
  9. Hi all, congrats on your invites! I'm dead jealous To give me an idea of timing - how long are you expecting to wait for your visa to actually be granted? From submitting the EOI to the invite was a lot quicker than i thought it would take, is it the next step that takes so long?
  10. Yay, things are looking up! 5 extra points! Thanks Memmymooch.
  11. Thank you Ali! Do you know where I can find those details, officially? What about the 5 extra points for 'spouse skills' on the pr application?
  12. Are these official figures? Only 32 nurses??!! What hope have i got?!
  13. My husband and I are both nurses. I am still waiting to hear back from ANMAC about us both needing to go through ANMAC with my husband as the primary applicant or not? This would obviously be a considerable sum if we both had to go through this. So what about if my husband just did ANMAC and we got our PR visas and went out to Australia, could I then register my UK awarded nursing degree in Oz? How would I go about this? Would I have to do IELTS and ANMAC and get my skills verified? or would i be able to just register with APHRA?
  14. Can you please clarify when you do the medical and police checks? would this be after you have been invited to apply for a visa?
  15. See the skilled assessment authority section just below the job description, program eligibility etc. It tells you where to go to submit your proof to skill and experience. http://www.deewr.gov.au/Skills/Programs/SkillsAssess/TRA/Pages/default.aspx
  16. Sorry to sound dense - but are you a qualified teacher? If so, then i would have thought the early childhood teacher option would be most fitting as it says about the bachelorete degree qualification. if not then the other one if you have been involved in management?
  17. Oh you star! Thank you so much, i had no idea what they were talking about!
  18. Hi, My husband and I are both nurses, hoping to apply for the skilled independent visa 189. We have a growing list of things we need to do, within that list on ANMAC it says about our nursing qualifications - we have to produce our graduation certificate and 'transcript of training'. Number 7 on this link. http://www.anmac.org.au/userfiles/file/international_docs/On-Line%20Application%20Information%20%232%2018%20March%202011.pdf What exactly does that mean? Transcript of training? pre registration qualifications? as in gcse's/a levels, or a declaration from where we did our nursing training?
  19. Nurses! From what I can gather from your messages - you are currently in OZ having moved from the Uk. I have a couple of questions if you could help? I know things are always changing - but regarding the language competency, do ALL UK trained nurses have to take the IELTS or OET to work in Australia? My husband will be doing it to get enough points as he will be the primary applicant on our visa, so i will get my visa as his wife. Also, what is the competency criteria? It says under that that on the anmc site that nurses from particular countries don't need to complete this. Is this different to the language one?
  20. Hi all, My husband and I are both nurses, looking to apply for a 189 working visa (I think? This seems like the best option to me). My husband will be the main applicant as he is the primary earner in our family - he needs to get 7 in the IELTS to have enough points. My question is, do I need to the IELTS as well? I read on the site that if you are from the EU you automatically get 'competent'. Is this is the English Language proficiency? It seems to be quite contradictory, in one sentence it says all international nurses have to do it, then in another it says about the EU and competences. If i've read that correctly, will I still be able to work in Australia if I register through anmac but don't have the full 60 points for the visa myself? I can get a visa through my husband. It's all very confusing. Can someone please help? Thanks!
