  1. We use a postal divert and http://www.scanmypost.co.uk for our uk mail.
  2. There is a Quest in Narre Warren - about 5 mins from Berwick. I have not stayed there but have stayed in other quest apartments and found them ok
  3. Google search reckons charcoal should be applied to the bite as a poultice (not ingested) and will draw out the venom from the wound
  4. We have our mail on 12 months postal divert by royal mail to http://www.scanmypost.co.uk. They then scan everything as a PDF and email you to say you have mail. I download and save the PDFs or get the odd document that needs keeping forwarded to my parents in uk. Works out very fast and pretty economical. They are regulated like a financial organisation wrt confidentiality as they are dealing with personal data. Working perfectly so far
  5. We are renting in Balwyn North. 30mins into CBD by car, great schools, rental properties within your budget, massive Westfield shopping centre 5 mins away, park and ride a few minutes away for the CBD and eastern freeway (Doncaster exit). we are also just at the end of the 48 tram. We have been here 4 weeks and it seems great Good luck with your search. Feel free to message Palmyra
  6. We arrived in Melbourne 4 weeks ago. Our possessions don't arrive for weeks yet as we went the shared container route. There isn't that much difference in the prices of most things if you shop around. but we had our stuff picked up 4w before leaving the uk and spent 4 w with feck all and have turned up an are buying loads of things all at once to cover the weeks before our possessions arrive. We have bought a washing machine even though we have one on the boat as we couldnt face more laundrettes with 2 little kids having used them in uk before leaving. In hindsight we wish we had gone for our own container and brought as much of our stuff as possible, and had it picked up a couple of days before flying, then arranged a serviced apartment for the 4-6 w after we arrived till our stuff turns up. - if you want a barely used washing machine in September let me know :-))))
  7. So are there lots of Brits sitting at their tables listening to the live band and not knowing who else is here from pio? We are siting on a big table with 2 kids next to the band. :-)
  8. My oh will be daddy daycare now we have arrived. Having spent the last 4 weeks holidaying with the kids I am looking forward to working :-)
  9. We used Doree Bonner and Gutted to find that although we have been in Australia 10 days that our possessions have still not left the uk despite being collected 8 weeks ago. Not likely to see them for another 8 weeks.
  10. I sent a letter from my school confirming when I attended and that i did my examinations there - this was accepted
  11. I am having a mare with my AMC application. Initially rejected as my stat declaration about changing to my married name didn't include all variations of my first name and middle names, and I had only proved tertiary education in uk not my secondary education as well. Now just been deemed incomplete again as I used a different notary for my new stat decs. Have just spent the afternoon chasing down the original notary to resend my stat declarations. Now 9w into application and not going anywhere fast. Flights booked in 15 w - argghhggh
  12. I asked the notary the difference between certifying and notarising. Basically certifying is fine if done within the same country I.e if certified by an Australian nurse/lawyer etc but for papers going international it needs to be a notary or they may refuse to recognise. I don't know if he was just saying that to justify his payment :-) http://www.mynotary.co.uk/faq.php
  13. I have had to get my documents done for medical colleges and it has to be notarised. An ordinary solicitor won't do - has to be notary. Stat dec had to be redone by the notary too after I had it witnessed by a nurse as notary wouldn't notarise it unless he also signed it and colleges wont accept unless i had it notarised. Both notaries I used charge a minimum fee for an appt £50 then a few pounds per extra document etc. if I had got my stat dec.s correct it would have been £120 all in but return for 2 stat dec,s put me back another £60.
  14. I have just had my paperwork notarised. My marriage certificate is from the US so I can't comment on that but my notary was happy to notarise copies of my graduation certificate without confirmation from my university. Palmyra
  15. My oh, 3yo & 1yo are moving out to Melbourne in May. We have never been either. Just going through all the paperwork mountain at the moment:-( but very excited. Palmyra
