You simply can't say "I hope your OH comed to sense" without saying "I hope you come to sense". You both have feelings and both want the best for themselves and their entire family. Unforunately you two have different feelings on where most joy and prosperity should be reached. It is one of the most difficult situations and I feel for you and your husband. Hi fellow digital maketing mate. You'll be fine in that industry I tell ya that i ran my own agency, before I sold it due to moving back to europe again.

Can't give you a lot of info and I don't speak fom experience looking for casual jobs... But I saw some job openings popping up on various local suburb facebook pages. Just join them and keep an eye on them. I also remember someone saying there are agencies for work for backpackers. But I don't have any more info than that. Enjoy your journey.

Don't you have the feeling you are not giving 'your new country' it a fair and full, holding onto your old house? (Unless you do it purely financial to rent it out, increase of value over time etc etc)

Don't be so judgemental (which is a judgemental comment in itself). Everyone has their own values. We loved Perth, never been to Brisbane. But I can imagine being closer to other stuff is a bonus. We really like the dry heat, so that's a plus for us. Others hate that.

It's all up to you and what you want out of life. We love dry heat, a lot of it. We don't like big cities, but it should be big enough to find work in our professions. So Perth it became

Nine months a year? Seriously? Our A/C was broken during summer in Perth, 38 degrees...that was too hot. But besides one summermonth a year (40+ degrees) or two wintermonths (5 degrees at night) we didn't need any airco.

Don't know, I'm not married. I was in a defacto relationship for 5 years already. I sent stuff like having a joint bank account, rental agreement in both names etc. I guess for marriage it's different, but just to give you an idea. I had my skills assessment done to gain the 5 extra points. If you don't need it, your partner doesn't have to go through the skills assessment hoops. It's up to you to decide if 60 is enough. Depending on the visa, some people are in front of the queue when they get more points I believe. But it's been nearly 3 years for me, so I don't know the details any more. Don't know what PTE is. Not sure if your partner has to do an IELTS test as you're speaking English as your first language. I'm from Netherlands and the partner had to do the IELTS as well (general ielts - at least a 4.5...which obviously is a piece of cake).

Sorry Melza, South Park generation here. Americans blame Canada for their problems Yes it's pople who value (and blame) something. Some people have a very active outdoor lifestyle in the UK. I couldn't do that. That weather kills als pleasure for me (that's not a fact, but my opinion). In contrary in Perth I was very active and outdoor, loved it. Other people would hate it because it is too warm. So yes, countries (with all their characteristics) are very big factors to base an opinion on, but in the end it's people who judge.

I hope I will be in the same boat as you in two months. Originally we left Oz, because I was homesick. My girlfrien wanted to stay. Now I want to go back and she doesn't want to... I feel so bad for making 1 mistake and feel we miss out on so much... Sigh. oh well good luck going back to Oz! Keep us posted.

Sorry, you are right, I misread because it was only about work and doing household stuff and not hobbies my bad. When we got back home and saw everything was the same it only made clear for me how much I changed. Nothing judgemental there, I am glad I did and I am glad everyone back home is doing what made and makes them happy. p.s. If you do somethi 'new' every day, doesn't that get old in a way?

I am on this one with Que Sera, Sera. Our life used to be so much different in Australia than NL (similar to UK). Took me a trip back to realise. Sure you have to work, do groceries etc. And for me those things are pretty similar. However all the spare time we did have in AU is spend so much differently than back in Europe. In Australia we were on the beach or with the horses 3-4 days a week, we went away for long weekends (camping) multiple times a year (except the 2 months during winter) and we enjoyed our time in the park. Just laying in the warmth in the grass. You can say that some of those things can be done in the NL/UK as well. But to be honest, with that awful amount of rain and cold weather pretty much 8 months a year (and even being unpredictable in summer), it definitely is not the same for us.

Lol, my bad. Combination of being in a hurry, typing on a phone and I admit, not having an A grade in English. I assume you were only talking about my grammar/phrasing and not the semantics of what I said?

Missing: (first 5 are in no particular order) 1) Our life/work balance 2) Surfing 3) Seeing my girlfriend enjoying her hobby (horses) many times a week. ( 4) Warmth/climate 5) Riding my dirtbike with friends in the bushes. 6) Beaches 7) Camping / long weekend trips 8) Nature 9) Barbie and lunch outside 10) Endless blue skies 11) Give way 12) All the (double) roundabouts. 13) Cheap petrol 14) Friendliness of a lot of people 15) Well sized land plots 16) Nice houses with many rooms 17) Pool in the garden ) Don't miss: 1) Lack of network I have back in NL. 2) My working field being so far behind 3) Ridiculous prices for some stuff (shipping costs, dentist(!), other medical stuff) ( 4) Lack of insulation (in combination with cold winter nights) 5) Rental inspections )

We flew back to the Netherlands with them may-2014 (3 months ago). They were fine. Great price. Only downside was that we had an extra stop at Abu Dhabi which we didn't see coming. It didn't really matter for the total flight duration, which was still good, but the misses hates landing and taking off

I agree completely. Except for investments or a (non investment) mortgage.
