  1. Can someone please help my dad got taken into hospital 2 nights ago and he is due to fly back to the UK in two weeks. The hospital have told us he won't be going home any time soon. So I need to extend his visa, I've been told we need to apply for a medical treatment visa but there is a lot of info needed, it's also confusing because it sounds like the visa is for if your coming to Australia for treatment. Not for if your taken ill here and need treatment. Has anyone ever had to deal with this.
  2. Let me know how you go. We had an instant quote back for about$2500 to take back our Ute and 2sq meters of personnel bits. Liked that we could also fill the car. Looks a good price!
  3. Hi fellow poms has anyone used cargo online to ship there car and some personnel effects back to the UK?

    PR Visa

Hi guys question I need to go back to the UK received my renewed passport last year. We noticed that it doesn't have a copy of my PR visa in it. Do I take my old passport with me to show I have a visa or is it some how programmed into the passport info?
  5. So it's been interesting the response my post has had. Maybe I worded it wrong, I guess everyone had moved on with there lives without us. That there lives had stayed the same, and yes many of them are happy with that. But we had changed we have a broader out look on our lives and what we wanted for us. Where as many of our family and friends say that would love to live here but have not taking the steps to do so. I'm not saying we would never go back, we love the UK and being Welsh love our homeland. Yes I agree that you can get stuck in a rut wherever you are, it was just a personnel observation for us when we were home! I guess my post was just to share my experience with homesickness and settling here in Oz and that it can be an emotional roller coaster, and that you can get past it and come out the other side and enjoy everything Oz has to offer. While I was going through the homesickness wanting to go home wasn't because I hated Oz or that things were different I loved it here, I just couldn't separate the emotional side of things!!
  6. Hi fellow poms it's been a while. Thought I'd let you know where we're at. Last time I posted on here I was in a bad place desperate to home again. In fact it was the worst bout of homesickness I'd had. After much thought and reflection we came to the decision to stay, one because of finances we just wasn't in the position to just go. We had car loans, card ect. It's been tge best decision we made, we came out of the homesickness and actually feel the most settled we've been since getting here. The homesickness will always be there, but it dose get easier. The only way I can compare it is to losing someone you love it's a grieving process. There's days when you just don't know how to get through the day. Then the next it gets that little bit easier. So for all of you thinking of dropping everything and going home. Think long and hard make sure it's not an emotional decision, make sure it's what's best for you as a family. And that it's not the emotional tie that's pulling you back. I know from our one trip home since arriving here we changed but everyone around us still did the same old things, same jobs same old. We had moved on with our lives in a big way looked at things differently had a new positive outlook of live, and what we wanted from our lives. Good luck to the ones who go home, if your thinking about it make sure your going back for the right reasons. It's not for everyone.
  7. Hi can anyone help need to contact my home insurance company back in the UK but they don't have an international number only an 0845 number. Does anyone know if there's a way of ringing the number from Oz.
  8. What they should stop is paying family allowance to family's who's children don't even live in the uk!
  9. In reply to Greattobebritish we did try and get a loan from the bank but again because we had no credit history the only way we could get the finance was by buying new cars. The banks and credit company only seem to really like to lend to people they know they will make money from!
  10. Hi can I ask how much it cost to ship your cat back!
  11. So what else can life throw at us. I changed my job as the store I was managing was closing due to renovation in the shopping centre, took another managing job in the same centre only to find that store was closing the day I closed my first store. I was reasured that they would get a pop up store in the centre which didn't happen. So I finally get to catch up with my regional manger yesterday to way up my options. All she had to offer me was an assistant manager job over an hour away from where I live or a part time job 2 hours away. So I now have 3 weeks to find a job. So my day off today has been spent applying for jobs and the odd outburst of tears. Begining to think we're doomed, why do some people have all the luck. It's not like were bad people we open doors for old ladies, let cars pass in busy traffic help when we can. So why can't we for once just have something go our way. All I want is to pay our debt's and go home!
  12. So great news they've cut my husband job to a four day week. Just what we needed don't think we'll ever get home. Really don't know how much more I, we can take.
  13. Hi can anyone who's shipped there cats back give me an idea of how much it cost them!
  14. You've made the right decision, I envy you and your family. We're financially tied here. We did try and move back over a year ago but could not secure a loan to pay out our cars. Thought then that maybe we were making the wrong choice and decided to give it another go. But here we a year now and no happier. Making plans to go home 2015 still have car loans to pay back. If we had the money we would be on that plane heading home. Australia has been fun but its not home. Good luck and keep us up to date with how you fair back home.
  15. Thanks everyone for the advise given. We've changed our credit card to a low interest rate for 15 months this should save us $1000's in interest. Keeping up with the extra payments. Broke lease on house moving into a smaller unit should save $100 a week. That's extra money is going on extra car payments. Had a clear out put some stuff on eBay made a little money, which is in a pot for when my father inlaw visits in June something for us to look forward to. Been a whole week without breaking down got some happy pills from the herbal some seam to be helping. Settling into a new job which I don't think helped with the depression felt a bit out of my depth. Looking forward to 2015 small steps it will soon be here! Thanks again for listening
