  1. hi summerdaisy- the Visa Pricing Table takes some studying! but from what I can see your payments so far have been in the region of 2370 & 16885? (might have been upped slightly following the July changes since you paid). you 2nd installment as far as I can see is going to be $£29130...go into the immi website & have a check yourself, but it looks as though going the 173/143 route costs around 4k more than the straight 143. Anyone chip in if I've read this wrong :wideeyed:
  2. Theoretically yes- but it is means-tested. If you enter something like "state pension" into the search bar at the top of the page you will find lots of info on this
  3. Note: A step-child is a child: of applicant's current partner I think this indicates that there is no problem regarding your stepchildren. This is from the DIAC Balance of Family Document - you can Google such information.
  4. wow that's been harsh for you but a great result in the end- wish you well for the future after all the stress !
  5. Why don't you email your case officer and ask him/her? When I did my visa (general skilled migration then, we are sponsoring my parents now), I found my CO very helpful and quick to respond to any queries, even one I had after my visa was granted! I think this answer from Learjet was for you.. you have a CO so that person should be able to help you
  6. Anyone know anything about this? none of the agents seem to .....:daydreaming:
  7. I understood they all had to be stamped & signed "certified". Mine went to a solicitor- very reasonable cost, £5 for the first& £2 each for subsequent docs- did have to ring around a few though, some solicitors think their 10 minutes is worth a fortune!
  8. Where did you hear that about 143's moving onto 103's? & the drastic fall in 143 applicants? a link would be useful.
  9. You really need to start at the very beginning with the immi.gov.au website- given that it's going to be a while before you get there yourself, & you would need to be a settled Permanent resident before your mum could even think of applying. If you go back about 10 pages here though & start reading, it will at least begin to give you an idea of what you're taking on!
  10. :daydreaming: I appreciate you want to do your best by your brother here, but I think you know the answer to that question really ! (presuming he lives in the UK of course!) Even if he was unemployed he would be financially supported by the state; but he works full time ! & neither way could he be classed as dependent on his mum even if she chooses not to let him pay any living costs. Maybe encourage him to skill up instead in order to improve his prospects for the future?
  11. Val- I was just doing the same because every time someone asks this question I think there's a different answer ! I did see once that liverpooloo said her child was deemed "settled" in under 2 years due to proving job, rental etc, it must have struck a chord with me at the time! but I dont know how she got the criteria verified...maybe she'll come along & add some detail..
  12. oh wow TP so happy for you, congrats !!!!!! hope that means I might hear some good news for my girl too soon as you seemed to be on the same timeline ...
  13. well I can't help but think it would help their end-of-week closure figures & make them look ever more efficient if they ticked some of these off where you'e done all the hard work making sure it's ready to go- my fingers are crossed for a great Christmas present for you both!! (we'll be over there ready to celebrate if mine gets the magic message!)
  14. You got confirmation of a valid app tho didn't you TP? (same as my daughter that's why I remember)...I think they'll treat it as DRC don't you? since atm the "system" is unable to differentiate & you've given them everything they need- hope so anyway
  15. Hi Nicola- you need to read the links you were given as it will explain it all to you- basically though your mum & dad have 3 children- To satisfy the BoF 2 of them already need to be "settled" in Aus before she can apply for a Parent Visa. So until you get there & settle yourselfthey will not be able to apply forthemselves & your younger sister ( & you would need to talk to a RMA to determine if she would be classed as dependent on them)
  16. Does anyone have an email address to contract DIAC re 186 LA queries after lodgement of application please?
  17. ah don't be too harsh- Kimsdu was only saying what loads of people think sometimes when people are "shocked" by a pregnancy- contraception is so fool-proof these days isn't it ? but only if you don't want to get pregnant  I think the OP is realistic enough to know this !! Still it's an exciting time, but I also agree there doesn't seem to be much choice but to marry in this case....she needs your full support now the deed is done !
  18. Looks like they could apply for the CPV in approx Aug 2014.......at which point they would get the bridging visa option.....about 18 months after you get there yourself if all goes according to plan
  19. Thanks Alan......... well we'll be past the 2year stage by the time I can apply- providing it doesn't become 2 years as PR ( I don't think that's the case though is it?) but meanwhile I've got an 11year old Aus citizen who can't move over till I can....& he'll be at the age soon where he won't want me to drag him away from his schoolmates etc.....& 2 sibs in different countries who miss each other so much....difficult enough without any further complications !
  20. but why would this be Alan?? we're all looking at paying substantial amounts of $$$$ for the CPV for instance......it's in our own best interests to get the timing right....why would they want to compromise the issue do you think? the problem for me as the applicant is that my daughter will have been alone over there for long enough to have a mental breakdown by the time I can apply anyway- so I don't get why they would try to prolong the agony??? ( hers & mine) wish I could make sense of this....
