Can you not et your employer to sponsor you for PR. I am also a nurse on a 457 visa in Sydney, and I only have to work for my employer for 3 months before they consider PR, they put nomination in in November after I had worked for them for 10 months, for 186 visa, just trying to sort out application, it depends on what stream for 186 whether you need IELTS and skills assessment. I am being sponsored under agreement stream so don't need either. Good luck!

I was told that my nomination was successfully lodged but no case officer yet. The warning is a defect in system and to hit confirm.

I has telephone interview for westmead children's hospital and it was good. I w dreading it but could sit in pjs and had cv and paperwork on desk in case they asked me certain things, good luck

Jultac, I was finding that employers weren't sponsoring on PR anymore probably because it costs too much money if you then change your mind so many were sponsoring on 457 then giving you opportunity for PR later. If you go down this route go for PR ASAP as better security, they can get rid of you anytime with a 457. I was lucky as employer would consider PR after 3 months and it was 9 months before application went in. As for AHPRA, I did get registration before I got job, registration can take up to 6 months and I know someone who took 11 months, but mine was really quick at 3 weeks. The only thing is you only have 12 months from getting registration to get to oz to validate registration. I do know people who applied for jobs in the same hospital whose registration hadn't come through at the time, but had applied ready. Yes, my 457 was really quick, and I think generally they are, not sure what time frame is now but there might be something on there. It took almost 6 months for pre employment checks for job and then once that was done, only a month for visa. It was granted in July but I didn't come out until the January so lost 6 months of visa as it starts from date of granting. Any other questions don't hesitate to ask. Tracey

I am a paediatric nurse and got jobs direct with hospitals in sydney and Perth and both were willing to sponsor me for 457 visa. I took the job in sydney a year ago and they are now sponsoring for PR. You will need ah par registration which once obtained is valid for a year to get validated. May need skills assessment depending on visa type.

Tina, Just to let you know, I emailed some technical help in immigration who confirmed that there is a successful application for nomination and that the message I was seeing is a defect in the system and to just press confirm when I see the message. Tracey

DelaneyM, when did your nomination application go in, I had acknowledgement letter on 20th November 2013 for nomination but still awaiting approval. Also, I tried doing application online week beginning 13th January 2014 and a warning sign comes up saying that my details cannot be verified with my nomination and that if I proceed, my application might be rejected, did you get this message at all? Or did you wait for nomination approval before doing application? When did you get your case officer, after nomination or after application?

I've been looking at form 80, and not sure how to fill it in. It asks for dates for countries visited including holidays in last 10 years. Did you all out approx. dates as I can't remember the exact date. Also, you have to put personal contact in Australia including sponsor, with full name, date of birth, but my sponsor is Sydney Children's Hospital Network and isn't a personal contact so how do I fill this in. Also, employment, did you fill in all employment or last 10 years as can't remember dates for jobs either since leaving school. Thanks

Hi all, Need some advice. Am trying t complete the form 80 as applying for 186 visa with employer sponsorship, and what a nightmare form. I have a couple of questions. Firstly, it asks if you have personal contacts in Australia including sponsor, I assume that as I am being sponsored I have to put my employer in this space even though they are not a personal contact to me. The only thing is it asks for employer name, date of birth etc, and my employer is the Sydney Children's Hospital Network unless my manager goes in this space. Also, it asks you to list any travel to any country in last 10 years including holidays, I can't remember exact dates as this goes back to 2004, can I just guess an approximate date? Also, I have to put down all employment, is that in last 10 years or all as I can't remember dates since I left school. Thanks to all for advice Tracey

Thanks Tina, Let me know if that works, if it does, might delete my immi account and recreate one as I created my immi account before all the changes to the system on 6th December

Any advice would be appreciated as I have tried contacting the department and work and no one so far has been able to help. Thanks

That second link doesn't help, it states that the criteria must be met which is stated in agreement. If it was transition or direct streams, they are easy to understand

Thanks for that. This is the one I downloaded but it is very vague and wishy washy. It talks about not needing IELTS if it was specified for registration and I had it for AHPRA registration. I am still registered but IELTS expired so not sure if I still need it. Also, the only thing I can find is that you need a degree of higher which I have, but mentions 3 years experience and I can't see how that can be assessed without a skills assessment.
