  1. So hard and if you go back without your partner you will need his permission to take the baby with you. Also are you happy to be a single parent in the UK? I am in a similar position in the moment but without the baby so really feel for you. My partner wont go back (he is a pom as well) so if I go back Ill do it alone.
  2. Hi Yorky im in north brisbane too. Are you still keen to organise a meet up?
  3. Hi, well I have been to see the doctors are really struggling and now going to see a psychologist hopefully they can help. i think I might be able to stay here if I have more trips back to the uk. How often ten is reasonable? I don't want to use all my holiday going back especially as my fiancé had no interest in going back even for a holiday.
  4. Hi it is a tricky situation and one that may never really go away. I moved to Brisbane 7 1/2 years and whilst I always missed my family and friends the homesickness really only set in a couple of years ago and this is the first year I have really wanted to move home. Crying all the time and feel hopeless as my fiancé wants to stay and won't consider England. He is English but loves it here and does not feel the need to ever go back even to visit. Trying to make a go of things so been to the doctors and have a session with a psychologist on Thursday so hoping that will help. i hope things get better for you and please take coming in knowing others feel the same
  5. Thanks for the comments. It's good to talk about it. We have citizenship and no kids so that's good. I am 36 though so running out of time although not sure if that's something we want anyway.
  6. Hi all, I live have lived in Brisbane for 7 years. At first I loved it but now the I am just finding the distance too far from friends and family. I have a few friends here but most of them have now moved to other states and so I only see them once or twice a year. I love my job and the weather etc is amazing but the pull of home gets stronger each year. My fiancé however loves it here. We have been together almost 12 years and he wants me to just focus on our life here. He gets frustrated with how home sick I get. I am really not sure what to do as whilst I could stay here a few more years I really can't see that I could stay here forever. My parents are getting older and I want to spend more time with them. i don't know what to do
  7. Hi so sorry to hear your position, I am also in a similar situation. Have lived here 7 years but now would like to move back. What did you end up deciding to do?
  8. Woohoo Visa Granted Here is my timeline. Applied DRC through MA Nomination - 31 Oct 2012 Visa - 3 Nov 2012 Nomination Approved - 4 April 2013 Visa Approved - 8 April 2013 Just over 5 months processing time.
  9. Had a bit of an update today - our Employer Nomination application has been approved. Now waiting for our PR application to be approved. Not sure why they were not approved together as I thought they were submitted together. Our MA advised that due to a teething issue with the electronic lodgement that they were in fact lodged a couple of days apart. Nomination Lodged - October 31st 2012 - Approved April 3 2013 Visa Lodged - November 3rd 2012 - Approval still waiting Does anyone have any idea how long we are likely to be waiting for the visa approval? Thanks
  10. Hi there. I am 33 and my partner is 35 we have been living here for 5 years now but always great to meet new people. We are from Bristol and now live in North Brisbane. Let me know if you would be keen to meet up I work in the Valley so easy enough to meet in the City. L
  11. Hi AKCH, As far as I am aware they need to send an email, however often your MA will have done this and just not tell you. I only found out my MA had sent the email becaus I asked for an update. I was initially advised that the visa processing time would be 2 to 3 months however it looks like its going to be a fair bit longer than this. Has your MA advised you on a timeframe?
  12. Hi, We are still waiting to hear about a case officer on our visa. We submitted the Employer Nomination on October 31st, Lodged our Visa Application Nov 3rd and got acknowledgement on December 3rd. Our migration agent gave us an update today to say that due to the new system our application was not acknowledged as decision ready. They sent an email to DIAC as per advice on Jan 11th to say that we submitted a Decision ready application and got an automatic response but thats it. Now just waiting. Im not sure now if we will still be processed by our original lodgement date or if we will be behind as they did not send the email until Jan 11th. Does anyone else have similar lodgement dates that can give me advice? Thanks
  13. Hi, Ill give you a hand. I was in exactly the same position as you and went from a Working holiday visa to a 457 visa. Whislt I can say for certain this is the best visa for you it is a good entry route for PR. Your girlfriend can apply for the 457 visa with you nominated as a spouse. I dont think this costs extra for the visa but might cost more if using an agent as there is more work involved. You will need to prove that you have been together for a set amount of time with photos, joint bills, declarations etc. If your girlfriend works at the same employer for two years on a 457 visa then she can apply for employer sponsored PR if the employer is willing to sponsor her for this. Again you can just be a spouse on this visa. Personally I have always used a migration agent. They are expensive but can be invaluable in helping you gather all the information. Go Matilda are meant to be good and I believe cost around $3,000. When I did mine I paid about $4,000. If you need any more info feel free to PM me. Louise
  14. Hi there my other half is a golfer. We are from Bristol UK and been living here for nearly 4 years. How old is your boyfriend?
  15. Hi, You can claim hardship and then if you can prove it you might be given work rights whilst you are on the bridging visa. Alternatively she could come on a student visa if she is prepared to study. A student visa can apply to any age and means they can work part time during the student year and full time during holidays. You could them apply for last remianing relative and I believe would have the same work rights. Or she could study something on the skills list and then try and get sponsored on her own.
  16. Hi there, I applied with a DRC application Nov 3rd, got ack letter and bridging visa on Dec 7th, now just waiting. My MA told me it is likely to take 2 - 3 months so hoping to hear by end of Jan.
  17. Hi My understanding is that you have to leave and then come back on a tourist visa. You can easily come back in on the 3 month tourist visa or you can apply for the one year visa. http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/tourist/676/ You can apply for the one year visa onshore but I am not sure if you can do this whislt on a 457 visa.
