  1. People are quick to complain but slow to praise, so here goes...... I have just hauled my 82 year old disabled mother from UK to Perth (economy). From kerbside at Gatwick we had the most amazing assistance from the staff at Gatwick, Dubai and Perth airports, and Emirates staff on board the aircraft. I am so grateful to all concerned. Mum said she felt like the Queen of England. After fighting with DIAC, MRT and ministers for over 4 years to get a visa, it has all been worthwhile. Now to get some much needed sleep. Christine.
  2. Just a small concern. When a friend of mine arrived in Perth and tried to enrol her unvaccinated kids in school, there were issues raised about her children being a danger to the recently born siblings of current pupils. These babies are too young to be vaccinated especially against whooping cough, which may be caught, carried and passed on by any unvaccinated person. There were Govt plans at the time to reduce the Family Benefit payments to those parents who had not had their children vaccinated. I don't know if that ever happened, as my friend got her kid's jabs up to date in the end.
  3. Just to clarify how these transfers work. Would I send Klickex money from my online account for them to exchange to another currency and deposit into a foreign account? Do I need to "LINK" an account to them?
  4. I have banked a couple of sterling cheques into my Oz Bankwest account. They can take up to 4 weeks to clear tho', the teller said they have to go back to Blighty:skeptical:. Hope you don't need to spend the money right now.
  5. The panel doc will do a discrete exam of breasts/scrotum to check for lumps, so he can fill in his required paperwork. He may check for varicous veins if there is a reason for it. The chest xray is just routine, but the radiologist has to be given any medical history so that he can report correctly on the film. I think you are freakin for no reason. You will be fine. Chris:wink:
  6. Hi Gill Youv'e hit the nail on the head here. However, if I had the luxury of hindsight, I would have brought mum in as a visitor years ago, then applied onshore maybe (or stashed her in the attic). LOL I have handled the Ministerial Int app myself. It took a lot of research. We cannot waste any money on fancy agents or lawyers, it may be needed for mum's care in the UK if she's not accepted in Oz. Regards Chris
  7. Good grief I didn't know that......is there no other option for your mum? Just my personal opinion but I think that's disgusting not even letting her in to see her family:mad: Phoebe Hi Phoebe Mum's only hope is a good outcome from the Ministerial Intervention application. As she has a serious medical condition, now known by the Oz govt, any other visa (incl e-visas) that she applies for, has to be checked against PIC 4005 (health). She doesn't meet that criteria, so no visa. I guess this must be a case by case rule as Sydboys parents appear to be back in Oz on a visitor visa, after being refused a CPV143. Anyway, I'm a bit peeved cos I have cared for both my husband's parents in my home until they died of cancer, and now I have taken in my hubby's sick 82 year old bachelor uncle. (All Oz citizens). This would have saved the community a few quid, but isn't taken into consideration when I ask to do the same for my mum. Grrrr. Such is life Chris
  8. My heart goes out to you. I know exactly how you feel as my mother was rejected also. I guess you have already appealed to the MRT with any fresh medical evidence in your father's favour. In my mother's case we still got a negative result from the MRT, but I have heard of many people who have success. The next step is Ministerial Intervention. This is a long drawn out road with many criteria to be met, but at least there is still a glimmer of hope. It is very cruel that my mum cannot even get a visitors visa because of her medical problems known to the Oz government. My very best wishes and lots of luck  Chris
