  1. that's great to know, I have the curved Samsung TV, and was wondering if the free-view would work. I assumed I would have to use it as a monitor.
  2. I very much think, you are paying for a container, so might as well fill it up as much as you can to save money. maybe you should read the manual, or even call Sony, now days, the TV settings are very similar. even if it doesn't work, yo can use it as a monitor for a freeview or Sky box etc. thats what we did with our UK TV when we brought it with us to Sydney. When we return we will be taking our TV with us .... we just have to replace the power lead. we even put an australian adapteron our digital phones and use them here
  3. Not entirely correct, your licence indeed does get cancelled, as the licence has an expiry date on it , however the category does not, it is valid until you are 70 then a medical every three years. however, if you just want a car licence just exchange your australian one for a UK one. We return in a few months and I still have my UK licence, and was advised to go to a local DVLA office to prove I have my motorcycle licence here. DVLA, do not know you have been out of the country ....
  4. I am from London, maybe that is why I believe Sydney is not as good as it would be for others.
  5. Reason is I have two young children and they may want to come here in 15/20 years time!!!
  6. the cost of living is expensive here, I have been here four years in January and we are heading back to the UK, we have had enough!!! the cost of living is stupid, Sydney is a pit of a place its not as nice as people think, the public services are like 30 years behind!!! rails system is extremely poor I know I quit as a driver for Sydney trains. food is excessivley expensive, unless you want a cheap un healthy diet etc. rent is well over priced nothing to do as in the UK silly things like going to the beach and playing on 2p slide machines etc. not able to hop on a train every couple of minutes the lack of history here, the PM is an absolute idiot, we are getting citizenship then getting out of this hell hole!!! should of remained in London, as for the opening poster, you should seek help, I think you are depressed and it cannot help with your dad not being well, as for your husband focus on the positive he did not mind being in the UK so who is to say he wont be happy to go back? I really really hope it gets better for you, I hope you find happiness in the future and hey everyone here on this forum will read your struggles and help you.
  7. I have lived here in Sydney for 3 years there is not so much to do? late night shop on a Thursday? life is not a hussle and bussle like London that is truely 24/7!!! we came here to seek a new life, yeah got a good job in the government, however it is still depressing over here variety is poor the public transport system is appalling, Broadband etc .... I agree it is great for some but for us it really doesnt compete to the UK, we are going to give it until we get citizenship then we will prob move back home to the UK to watch real sport!!
  8. Mate, please dont think it will be all roses over here please make sure you will have them tinted glasses in your pocket, NBN, they cannot even get ADSL2 working properly! I think what you do back home in the UK will well adapt you for life over here ! I work longer travel further here in Australia than I ever did back home in the UK I cannot wait until I get my flight back to England been here 3 years got a very well paid goverment job pays above award etc but will take minimum wage to go back to UK
  9. Hi BJ, Congrats on your medicals being finalised, I am glad your concerns are over, you prob had the same as me Chris
  10. Thanks for that Bp I forgot to do it. I personally would not like my initals being splashed over forums. I just find it disrespectful to the person who is the CO.
  11. you are aware CO's do check this site, I really do not think it is a good idea to give initals of a CO, I feel you should remove there details. I just feel it would protect you better
  12. Dont worry a percentage of medicals are referred as a matter of course, I suppose it is no different to people being randomly checked in other places such as airports etc.
  13. Good Luck to all applicants this week, I hope it is a good week and lots of you get a visa or CO. Chris
  14. I managed to save my golf clubs and fishing gear!!! We did our Loft over a skip and half of rubbish, thankfully the local council do a free collection to prevent fly tipping so they came and got it all.
  15. To be honest, I think once you get to medical stage the only real hiccup would be failing the medicals. Waiting, you will be fine it is understandable to be paranoid it is a life changing decision after all, the powers to grant or decline are in one persons hand. Fingers crossed you will have your grant in a couple of weeks at most. Chris
  16. Congrats on the medicals. We did ours at maidenhead they uploaded one the same day it showed as met on the monday as we had ours on a friday. but it only took a day or 2 ... Fingers crossed you will get your visa as soon as now! Chris
  17. Congratulations Tania, I had a feeling you would get it soon well deserved and the stress should ease now ... well for the Visa now the stress of moving!! Chris
  18. Congrats Anlopa, Hopefully you wont be the only one this week, Tania fingers crossed your next you deserve it. Chris
  19. Of course I forgot of the influx due to the changes fingers crossed it means it will be quicker for Cat 5's we was a lucky one we got dragged out of that Cat in sept and got the visa grant but I still want all Cat 5's to get processed ASAP.
  20. I hope you get your GRANT soon, you deserve it after the wait. This is fantastic news for Cat 5 applicants the rate they are getting through Cat 4 they will hopefully start on Cat 5 by jan/feb time.
  21. Hi Waitingtogotooz, It was not a personal dig at you in any way, I know you had personal reasons and DIAC should be flexible, the point I was making was taken out of context by other members misreading, it was purely, the CO can be advised by the panel doctor in my case they did as E/Health was playing up and what should of been done in a couple of days took 2 weeks, the panel doctor can also inform your agent directly. the panel doctors they have access to E/Health. I just find it unfair an agent is paid then they expect the client to do all the chasing on there behalf. Also please you do not have to justify your life to me, I wish you the best please do not worry to much about a diet, they are not excessively strict on weight. I was over my BMI a bit. Are you sure you have 28 days as I have notice a lot of CO's giving 70 days now. I hope you get your visa as soon as , As I know it is a stressful time. Chris.
  22. That must be a weight off your mind now fingers crossed you get a grant as soon as. Chris
  23. Actually your wrong it was not borderline, it was a straight forward case. it was more than one agent. They stated my partner did not meet the requirements for the hours required for TRA 900 hours even though we explained fully what it was and it worked out 1200 hours. so we called TRA and they said yes you do ... this is when you had pathways A,B,C,D that has all changed now. It gave great satisfaction when they kept cold calling us and asking if we needed help and we could politely tell them no thank you. I think being an Agent is probs easy and would not mind doing it myself. Chris
  24. Hi Mandy, My point from a personal experience is if you think you are going to have issues with medicals not getting there on the deadline you tell the medical team .. who will inform of it, after doing our meds (once they got uploaded) properly. it went straight to visa like you. I think what baffles me is, people know they are going to get a visa, then book it a couple to a few days before the 28/70 days expire, I personally do nto understand this as everybody know meds have to be done why leave it to last min then panic. This is not a dig at anyone at all, I just find it silly that people put themselves under extra stress for no reasons. I understand that people might not have funds at the time. It was good news that agents helped you get it done prior to the deadline.
  25. We didnt have an agent, didnt contact CO once we had a lot of problems with E-Health. the medical dept did all the contacting for us. Personally booking medicals a few days prior to deadlines is not a good idea as it can cause problems later down the line.
