Guest Gollywobbler
Hi mlsdq http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/regional-growth.htm#qld The chart above tracks the progress of applicants for Contributory Parent Visas. Grant has already set up a Timeline Monitor website, which is here: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/65328-new-timeline-monitor-site.html I have made Grant's thread "sticky" again to make it easy to find. Grant now has his visa but he said that his website more or less runs itself and that he does not have to pay much attention to it. I have an idea. I imagine that one would have to ask Grant to start a new page or something, so as to produce something that would be a clear chart of all the people and their occupations, timelines etc that are currently in Cat 4. If the data that everyone has contributed to your thread could be turned into a chart of the types described above, the chart could then be sent to Peter Mares, the journalist. If he could then be persuaded to get Mr Bowen to be interviewed on radio, he could also send Mr Bowen the chart beforehand. Evans make vague allegations about 10,000 Cooks and 5,000 Hairdressers etc, all trained onshore and all of them doing it solely to get PR in Oz. That is the propaganda that he wanted the world to believe but it does NOT come across as ringing true when one studies the occupations listed in your thread. IT people get involved with IT because they are interested in computers, cyber-space etc. (My own step-son is obsessed with IT. He is now 35 but he has undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the subject and does something involving websites for his job.) The Marine Biologist and the Botanist who have replied to this thread sure as hell didn't choose those occupations merely in order to find work for themselves. Neither of these occupations are things that one would want to do unless one had a very serious interest in - and knowledge about - the subjects concerned. Reading through this thread, very, very few of the contributors to it have simply "drifted into" the jobs they have been doing. Nearly all of the occupations require specialist knowledge, training and so forth. I think that if we can get the information into a chart format it would make a big statement about Category 4 and, to me, the stuff that I've been reading about tonight gives the lie to many of the claims made by Evans. I think that a chart format would get Peter Mares' attention and he might then be able to use it to get Chris Bowen's attention as well. What do you think, please? Cheers Gill

Cheers Gill Gill - I left a message on Peter Mares voicemail last Friday and have sent couple of email messages as well - Yesterday he contacted me at office I ran him past the ICT mess and he was quite aware of it He mentioned that he will be interviewing Bowen when Bowen gets settled in. His plans was to write a letter to Bowen stating the ICT messup as it is a bit compilicated with the ASCO-ANZSCO mapping. What you have proposed is fantastic...I think we should do that and get Peter to have a look at it as well! _________________________________________ CAT (4), 885 applied 2008 AUG, ICT - Recent graduate NEC, IELTS 8.0, NAATI qualified, Currently employed as a ICT Project Officer

Guest sonisoni
would it be possible for the system to auto shutdown once the application quota for the year is reached? since the probability of denied visas is low? so in that case, DIAC would advice applicants not to apply and that perhaps lessen the burdens of backlogs Yes, it is But then DIAC wont earn money on interest they do if need to return money on any application....There might be few but it would atleast save some money to those. dont know, I gone insane :spinny:
