Mini-Update for the week

This week seemed to be IT professionals week for approvals (and unfortunately again more regections)

Grant was the first to hear this week - unfortunately a rejection. Victoria have a reputation for rejecting a high number of IT applications Bagonzo and Koroleva were also rejected. Hopefully most are on the CSL list and will still get priority but a little slower than we would all like and maybe appeals might also help.

Hurray finally Freebo was approved.

Well going on a totally unscientific sample that is 25% of the Victoria SS IT applicants approved 75% rejected.

The previous week 50% of the science professionals were rejected...

Prior to that we had had no rejections.

More good news Allany was our first offshore visa granted

I noticed on another forum that JBandVicki have finally got their SS visa approved (they had been waiting since April) so I have updated their details on the first page.

-----------------------------------------------------------

April Applications Submitted: 2 Approved: 2, Waiting 0

-----------------------------------------------------------

June Applications Submitted: 3 Refused 1, Approved: 2, Waiting 0

-----------------------------------------------------------

July Applications Submitted: 6, Refused 1, Approved: 4, CO: 2, Visas Granted: 1, Waiting 1

-----------------------------------------------------------

August Applications Submitted: 8 Approved: 5, Rejected: 3, CO: 1, Visa Granted: 1, Waiting 0

-----------------------------------------------------------

September Applications Submitted: 4 Approved: 1, Waiting 3

-----------------------------------------------------------

Interestingly we now have noone waiting to hear back re SS since prior to September except for Taylor20 who has been waiting since July as Victoria were getting feedback on the requirements for approving a Social Worker

September applications (3 waiting): KerryCraig was asked for a more detailed CV so hopefully things are moving along and you will hear soon? I had expected Suni to hear with the other IT applicants - maybe you just missed the sitting of the industrial panel this time around I hope it is not a long wait.

Follow-on threads

Since turning blue I have joined the thread for those with SS and Non-CSL - Tasha started a thread to help us through the long wait and see how applications to DIAC are progressing

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migrat...e-you-now.html

Kelly took up the challenge that many of us had bee hoping to see and there is now also a thread for those on Priority 1-4 so we can all see how fast they are progressing and hopefully see some patterns that will make it easier to estimate things.

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/71250-priority-processing-groups-1-4-where-u-now.html

Hurray Freebo & Sunnyday are on there - wishing you both a speedy Visa turnaround time. As you are both Priority 2 I am hoping one of you is the first to recieve their Visa on tha thread.

Thank you for the update Vicky Mel! It's quite frustrating that Vic have not come back with an outcome for my application. There is another social worker who has been waiting for a response since March. It seems that Victoria does not need social workers otherwise I would have had a reply by now. Very unlikely that I will hear from them any soon. Seven months to get a feedback from the industrail panel it's a long time and I guess there is something else that stops them from making a decision. But who knows why?

Just for the statistics, I have applied on 13. July for Vic. SS and got rejection letter just few days ago.

I must say that my experience with the Vic. SS sponsorship process is bad. I submitted first application in June, and since I did not received any confirmation, I sent e-mail to them to check if they have received it (although I got confirmation from the system that application is completed and I could see it on the tracking page). They said that they never received it and to apply again. I have sent them printouts (I printed out confirmation pages and everything else to PDF file) because I did not want to loose time which I have already waited but they did not want to hear it and asked again to reapply. So I did, and got rejected eventually. My occupation is Computing professional - Network security specialist.

Cheers...

The IT professionals do seem to get rejections  (at least on this thread - haven't looked elsewhere). Good luck with the rest of the process

Crazy thing is that Victoria do sound as if they are short of Social Workers as an agency was advertising on here looking specifically for social workers in Victoria.

I hope my PM got through to you - it was a few weeks ago - maybe you might look at that for a sponsored ENS?

Really sorry to hear that you were rejected - plus that you also got mucked about on the online system that seems to loose loads of peoples applications - and obviously could do with some good IT people working for them and sorting it out.

Several people on here have had applications or other bits and pieces lost in the system.

Thanks for letting us know I have added you details to the first page for the interest of others. I hope you are CSL and are in the priority lists and get processed soon.

Good luck

Hi VickyMel! I know another agency that is currently looking for social workers in Victoria but they told me that if successful in securing a job Victoria want me to move by the end of the year. I doubt they woud sposor me under an ENS. They said I will work there on a temporary visa. In the current climate and with all these changes I can not take the risk to moving to Australia on a temporary visa. And I cannot move so soon anyway. It is a little bit of a contradiction. They say they need social workers but on the other hand they are so slow in getting the panel feedabck. I have sent them an email requesting an update. I have not heard anything from them yet. I hope they have not lost my application or who knows they want to wait to see how many social workers they manage to bring over by the end of December.

Thanks PDA congratulations on getting your SS approval so quickly - I have added you in blue to the first page.

I think that some occupations get processed very quickly by Victoria and engineering appears to be one of them.

Great to have some positive posting re Victoria SS I hope engineer is on the CSL and you things move quickly for you.

I am totally with you on this. Before all the changes I naively would have gone for a temp visa thinking all should be OK further down the line.

But after 23/09 and how many people just got unexpectedly kicked in the teeth - I just don't trust the Oz government to play the game fairly anymore. Given that like many people who were so badly done by I would be packing up everything to make a permanent move I just can't afford to do that if I could get kicked out with potentially a just months notice should something change.

Completely agree, would never go on a temp visa ( especially not with kids), it works out great for a lot of people and is a cheaper option but it basically gives your employer license to treat you like s***!! The Oz government is interested in the greater good for their country (rightly so like) and not in the individuals that get caught up in the aftermath of their changes.....so is defo a gamble:skeptical:

Hi Cianor

Welcome to the Victoria SS thread.

I have added your details to the front page. I hope that you get some news from Victoria soon.

Victoria seem to have been pretty quiet since processing a batch of IT applications a couple of weeks ago.

Hi Vinnie

It was really great to see your name on the thread - I missed you

Great news that you have submitted your appeal to Victoria - I will have my fingers crossed for you.

I haven't been posting on this thread as not much has been happening with Victoria and most of the action is now on

Priority 1-4

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/71250-priority-processing-groups-1-4-where-u-now.html

and

Priority 5

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/71250-priority-processing-groups-1-4-where-u-now.html

Nothing much happening with me - I'm sat in the queue waiting for news and hoping that it may not be the 2-3 year wait currently suggested and worried it may become even longer..?

Yes brill news Freebo got his Visa granted - another from this thread it's great when people you know get there

Good luck with the appeal Vinnie - let us know how you get on.

VickyMel,

I received word from my migration agency today that I have received the 176 Sponsorship from Victoria. I am rather excited right now. After reading of the recent IT Rejections, I too feared that I would be one of them. So just about three months to get it.

(ASCO Code: 2231-79 Occupation: Computing Professionals nec)

I will update the other thread on the 1-4 applicants. I think that i might see some movement there soon.

Good Luck everybody else waiting.

Congratulations Cianor - I have turned you blue on the first page glad to hear you did not fall foul to the VIC SS IT rejections.

Look forward to seeing you move along to your visa on the Priority 1-4 thread - I hope it happens really quickly now you are on Priority 2 !

EDIT - I see from another post you are Oracle so disregard below...

ciannor,

I hope I'm wrong but I though that of your ACS classification is Computing Professionals nec you get neither MODL points nor CSL and hence no priority processing? Or did you get a different classification???

hi everyone,

I appealed for victoria ss and they still rejected my ss stating that the industry panel thinks that my qualification and experience does not suit their current job market. I'm quite devastated right now...

My other option is to ask our relative in perth to sponsor and they are willing to sponsor coz our relative is the one who's been encouraging us to move there... unfortunately, i can't prove that they are related to us.... there are no documents to support, as they are related through our great great grandfather... any ideas how to prove it???

Hi Vinnie

Really sorry to hear your news.

Maybe start a new thread to ask questions about proving you are related to the relative who is keen to sponsor you - I think more people will see it and someone may be able to help. I am not sure how closely related you relative must be? I think you need to draw a family tree but you maybe need to find out whether relationship through a great great grandfather is too distant?

Maybe also you should consider approaching a good agent for advice and maybe help as it sounds that your case may potentially be difficult - in any case many of the agents will give you some advice for free.

You had mentioned that you husband also had suitable qualifications and that this might get you the extra points for a 175 is it worth looking more at this it would seem to be easier and less risky??

Good luck Vinnie - I want to meet you in Melbourne! Although it is looking like it will be a long time away for both of us.

I'm going away for a few weeks today and won't be able to get online much.

Good luck - post a new thread so more people see it

I've received this message from Victoria. Really dissapointed. They are asking me to provide a IELTS result with at least 7 score for each band. They are stating that this is a new requirement introduced by the Australian Association of Social Workers. I have explained that at the time the application was submitted this was not required and that my overseas social work qualification has been assessed as suitable and meeting the AASW membership eligibility criteria. On the state official website it is stated that in order to work as a social worker in Victoria you do not have to be registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers though they are asking now to provide the IELTS result in order to comply with the new AASW membership requirements. On their official website it is also stated that in order to be eligible for sponsorship you need to have English knowledge at a Competent Level - my IELTS score was 6.5 listening, 8.5 writing, 8.5 speaking, 8 reading. So now if I go and sit my ILETS again and meet their new requirements by the time they will process my application ( it's been already 4 months now) the rules will change again and they will give me the same outcome- can't process your application. This is a joke... I can not keep up with all these changes which only cost the immigrants hundreds of pounds and with no result.

Dear....,

Thank you for your application for sponsorship under the 176 - Sponsored visa scheme.

On 1 August 2009 the Australian Association of Social Workers introduced an additional competency component into the social worker skill assessment which requires applicants nominating the occupation of Social Worker on their visa application to demonstrate English language capability at IELTS 7 or above (in each band).

The Victorian Government's sponsorship program is designed to attract skilled migrants who can address Victorian industry skill needs and perform well in their nominated occupation in the Victorian labour market.

The social work industry's new requirement that social workers have a minimum standard of English at IELTS Level 7 to perform in this occupation in the Australian labour market means that, for Victorian Government sponsorship, you are now required to meet this threshold.

As you have indicated that you do not meet this requirement, we are unable to process your application further.

Please quote Reference Number : SS-2009-06922 in all of your communication to us.
