I got email from them today also. They send me "Skilled Sponsored Declaration" to sign and asked me to write some statement about commitment Victoria since i noted that i have a friend in WA. What do you think, is this mean that my application is in final stage? I will write this required statement, sign this declaration and send them tomorrow. Does anyone have an idea what to write about commitment Victoria and how long it supose to be?

I was asked to sign a declaration like that, on about the 15th of July, I've heard nothing since, but hope it means something positive for you

Hi Vinnie,

I also got email as follows:

Thank you for your application for sponsorship under the 176 - Sponsored visa scheme.

Following a review of the information you have provided to the Skilled and Business Migration Program, we regret to inform you that the Victorian Government is not in a position to sponsor you under the Skilled – Sponsored scheme.

We consult with industry to determine which occupations are currently "in demand" in Victoria, and seek advice to determine whether individual applicants would be "employable" or not for the current Victorian labour market. We do this because we need to ensure our sponsored migrants have the skills and specialisations on our Skilled – Sponsored Eligibility List which are in shortage in the current market, and to ensure that skilled migrants have a realistic chance of employment when they arrive in Victoria.

In this case, our advice indicated that your skills and experience did not match the current industry requirements. This decision was based on an evaluation of your qualifications and your years of work experience, taking into account the current needs within Victoria’s regions and industries.

Note that we would be happy to reassess your application should you be able to obtain a valid offer of employment in your nominated occupation within Victoria, and your occupation remains eligible for sponsorship.

Information about other visa options is also available on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) website www.immi.gov.au.

I can not believe this as on one hand Victoria state wants to be biotech hub and on other hand they are rejecting life scientists.I am too sad.Don't know what next?

Thank you everyone for your supporting words... i feel so much better after reading everyone's messages.

senorita,

I can't believe they have rejected u as well... I thought they rejected me coz of my lack of experience (because i'm currently in a totally different industry than life scientist). My expertise is in bioinformatics... I am thinking that maybe i didn't provide them with enough information regarding my job scope when i was working in the industry. how about you senorita? do u want to appeal? I'm thinking of doing so by providing them a thorough explanation of my job scope.

Oh guys its great to see all the responses on the thread

although i'm disappointed but i am kind of relief actually coz now i don't have to guess whether my application is approved or not... i'm currently trying to figure out other alternative to apply for visa... i can't apply for 175 because i still lack 5 points... i can apply for 176 through family sponsorship (my hubby's uncle is there)... unfortunately, the relationship is too far that we are in lack of documentarial evidence to support our claim... his uncle really wants us to come there and he is willing to sponsor us... i'm so confused...

Can you develop a family tree showing how your Uncle is related to your hubby? Then given your Uncle is keen he could maybe write a supporting letter etc to show that you have a strong relationship. I wonder if you might be best to seek the advice of an experienced agent to look at all your opions? There may be other options open to you that you just are not aware of?

Vinnie,

Is there any way you could get a job offer if they are looking for life scientists in Vic, like vickymel said Vic may have rejected cos of experience but an employer might rip your arm off!!

Its definately worth a go Vinnie - but from my experience most of the companies are only really interested if you already have a visa. I will PM you the name of one organisation that was advertising that they were prepared to consider international applicants - unfortunately not my line.

anyway, vickymel, my results is already out... did u get your results??? i hope u will get good news soon...

No we have not heard whether we have been approved or not yet.. but it looks as if they may be doing the scientists now given both you and Senorita have heard back - from the responses you have had I am getting very worried now

I am not sure exactly what they are after but I imagine they want to check that you are applying for SS in Victoria because you want to be there and that you are committed to living and working there as per the criteria of the SS Visa.

Good luck with this Bebac

Ohh Senorita - so sorry to hear your news too.

I have also PM'd you the details of the biotech company that will consider people without PR and were advertising a few months ago.

Two rejections in two days!!! I know that there is a big demand in the biotechnology hub and trying to bring new organisations and stratup new ventures...

Unfortunately most companies whilst keen seem not prepared or able to sponsor and want people with a PR visa...

Good luck Senorita - will you be asking for further clarification as to why you were refused?

After our rejection we appealed and after about 2 weeks we were sent the same email asking us for a signed declaration to state why we want to go to Victoria and to confirm the family we have in the area. We had 1 month to respond so it was all faxed off and I emailed them yesterday and they confirmed almost instantly to say yes they did receive it. So just the waiting game now - I am hoping that no news is good news -

Vickymel - I am hoping it is the same for you no news is good news? keeping everything crossed xxxx

Good luck to you N11kkx everything crossed for both of us

Lets hope we don't have to wait too long now and that as you say no news is good news...

I have left it until now but have decided to add a new colour to the first page - brown for rejections - the colour of poo. Hopefully anyone going brown will later be converted to blue.

Vinnie, Could you increase your points if you take IELTS? It is 10 points more.

Or do you maybe have a community language you could use for points?

We have rec'd a request for the signed declaration are queries about having friends in other states.

For me it felt quite odd to be asked (obviously VIC don't know us - and have good reason to ask with people doing the SS to speed things up then switching states) but when I consider our situation we have friends and family scattered throughout the world (and maybe that is the reason that for us they were a minor consideration in the scheme of things) - but in deciding that we wished to go for Melbourne friends and family were way down the list of things we considered (in reality they weren't really considered much at all - the ones that we might have considered moving close to are not living in Australia).

I am hoping that this means either they have already done the industrial panel thing - or will be soon..?

I looks like they may be doing it by occupation type re my earlier post

Yes it was an email - sounds similar to Bebac's the other day.

Hopefully it means we are moving along - even if it is only onto the industrial panel.

Weren't you asked for a similar declaration ages ago? I suppose we may still have a long wait to hear back.

I was asked to sign a declaration about 1-2 weeks after I applied to Vic, but I'm not sure if its the same as the one you've had. I think it just said "I agree to stay for 2 years" will dig it out, its not in the folder with all of the rest of out immigration paperwork.
