  1. we didnt get an email - I chased them to see what was happening and they emailed 2 days later to say it was all done and letter in the post. So should get that soon. Best of luck
  2. ARTC news, I emailed the ARTC 2 days ago to find out and chase our application. The assessment should take 30 days and our app was dated 12 may. This morning we have an email to say successful and details are in the post. So it looks like assessments are taking 3 months. We did not mention the vettassess certificate and did not send a copy. One person had there app returned prob cause he sent the vettassess cert. Good luck to all applying x
  3. We are in a similar situation we have everything to go and 30k to set us up but the figures dont add up. My oh hadnt got a job but looking at 100k and we have 1 daughter and a full visa (permanent resident) and it is too expensive. I would work part time but it still wont be enough. We are going to validate and then wait and see x Good luck with your decision making x
  4. Anyone else applied to TRA for an assessment? Our application was logged on 12 may and we are now way over the 30 days it says it takes for assessment?
  5. WARNING!! I have been advised by another PIO member that her hubby has applied for his TRA and he wants to do the Peer route - he has been asked to withdraw his TRA application as he has an OSTR via Vetassess. As any electrician in the UK has to go down the Vetassess route to get your Visa I believe the loophole of Peer may now be closed! We have applied for our TRa 2 weeks ago so will be interested to see the response we get! Yet another blow to Electricians!! Oz want and need the trade but make it very hard to earn a living! So it looks like the 2 week full time course may be the way to go ?
  6. All change again!!! We have just applied for our TRA and peer have emailed all of their details !! Now what to do!! We will be heading to nsw any advice?
  7. Hi Derren 7 We have just finished completing our ARTC application, and have included photos, certificates, copy of visa, copy of passport and a reference from our latest employer. I cannot see anywhere that it states you need references from all employers? just contact details. I just wanted to check before we post everything off Thanks
  8. WOW what a post !! and yes I have read all 16 pages!! We currently have a lovely Audi A3 3.2 Quattro Sport with the DSG (108k miles) . It is worth about £5k in the UK. Do we ship it or do we sell it and buy an Audi A4 estate Sport and ship that across? The audi is an 04 and the A4 would be an 07 (50k miles) We love our Audi but the costs of them in Oz are mental and we would never afford one? We are not planning on moving until Next Easter so the 12 month ownership would not be an issue if we buy in the next few weeks. Thanking you in advance x
  9. CSL list is being phased out and the new SOL list is due out in the next few weeks. At present General Electrician is on the recommended new list but who knows what the Aussie Government will do next. The next 6 weeks should be interesting - keeping fingers crossed
  10. Skills Assessment for ARTC - FAQs have you looked here?
  11. you will also have to bear in mind that when you finally get to Australia, you are like an apprentice again and have to do a load more training before you can get your A class ticket to work. At the Vetassess assessment (which my other had to really revise for as much of the stuff he had not done since his original college courses) the guy doing the assessment said it is about 12 months of continuous on the job training and further tests to get your A class.
  12. You have to apply on line to Vetassess and send off loads of documents, certificates etc. They then tell you the options of dates and venues. You have to pass the paper test first and then you have the privilige of paying a fortune for the one day exam. We are in Somerset and had to travel to Blackburn as at the time they were only offering Glasgow or Blackburn. Hope this helps, and good luck
  13. We are coming out at the end of March for a look around in Melbourne and to approach employers but dont expect much of a job as we are not visa ready and need the full A class. It is a real problem for electricians. Not sure if any other trade has the same issues? It would be nice to be able to do the training whilst in the UK as we have to wait for the Visa at least we could spend the time to get ozzie qualified? are there many adverts for electricians? best of luck
