Hi everyone,

I am on processes of filling an online application for 175 visa .

I got in to the payment stage but have not been asked for my certificates to be uploaded.

Has someone else experienced such a thing?

I think you should post this in a new thread, this one is discussing Vic SS, not 175 applications.

Please report the answer here, I asked the week before last and got the standard "with industry panel", and I applied 2 days before you...

Got my reply....

Thank you for your email. As previously advised your application is being assessed by our Industry Panel. Please note that while we update our website it is not currently possible to track your application online.

Maybe I shouldn't have asked about my status :) Got a rejection email just now.

Unfortunate but not the end of the world. As of now I am still on CSL so shouldn't be long, that is unless the new FSL or whatever they call it drops my occupation.

All we can do is wait.....

Thank you for your application for sponsorship under the 176 - Sponsored visa scheme.

Following a review of the information you have provided to the Skilled and Business Migration Program, we regret to inform you that the Victorian Government is not in a position to sponsor you under the Skilled – Sponsored scheme.

We consult with industry to determine which occupations are currently "in demand" in Victoria, and seek advice to determine whether individual applicants would be "employable" or not for the current Victorian labour market. We do this because we need to ensure our sponsored migrants have the skills and specialisations on our Skilled – Sponsored Eligibility List which are in shortage in the current market, and to ensure that skilled migrants have a realistic chance of employment when they arrive in Victoria.

In this case, our advice indicated that your skills and experience did not match the current industry requirements. This decision was based on an evaluation of your qualifications and your years of work experience, taking into account the current needs within Victoria’s regions and industries.

Note that we would be happy to reassess your application should you be able to obtain a valid offer of employment in your nominated occupation within Victoria, and your occupation remains eligible for sponsorship.

Grant6607 - so sorry to hear that, we also got a rejection but sent an email appealing the decision and it was overturned. Do you think you meet the criteria as it may be worth appealing this.

Great news you are on CSL - so fingers crossed it wont be long anyway

Really sorry to hear this Grant. I had heard that Victoria refuse a lot of IT folks - it might be worth appealing?

I'm glad that you are CSL - yep I think a lot of us have our fingers crossed that we get far enough along that the next set of changes doesn't flip us back again...

We had hoped to get our 176 into DIAC Saturday but we had a couple of delays re that and I'm terrified they may announce something new in the meantime...

Sorry to hear that too Grant, when did you put your 175 in?, I'm now seeing the odd 175/CSL from June getting a c.o.

Got a rejection email too. They seem to be really hard on IT.

Could anyone who got their rejection overturned post the email they sent or at least some sort of guide to what you did?

Thanks!

Really sorry to hear about your rejection Bagonzo. I have heard on this and other forums that Victoria are particularly tough on IT.

Good luck if you appeal - let us know how you get on if you do.

Ohhh this thread is not fun when people get rejected... We are learning a lot about Victoria SS but it is tough learning sometimes.

Come on Victoria be nice to us.

Sorry to you too bagonzo! Did you get the "not the right experience" reply - I saw one guy who had that response months ago, but with 20+ years of experience:huh:

We had an email stating not enough experience, qualifications, money and will probably not settle in Victoria. We wrote an email back stating how upset we were at being rejected and did not understand their email as my OH had taken his assessment and been proved to be qualified as an electrician according to their rules, we had already sold our house so were committed to Victoria, we have family moving to Victoria and had at least x amount of dollars. Could we possibly appeal this decision. We did not hear anything for around 2 weeks and they then asked us to sign a declaration. I hope this helps

Yeah, well, my case is similar. I have 18 years of experience in IT and a university degree. I was assessed as a Java Specialist. I have 6 years working in java and have been teaching it at university level for 8 years. I could have got the same assessment in C#, since I hace almost 2 years working with it and 2 years teaching it as well. All this is in my CV.

I hope the appeal goes through. I really can´t understand the criteria for experience requirement...

Thanks a lot!! I was thinking of writing something in those lines as well. Hope it gets through.

Truth is, I don't intend to go anywhere else and I'm clearly not asking for SS for lack of points, since I have claimed 135. My cousin has been living there for 25 years. 99% of the research I've made was on Melbourne. I even know where I would be renting, school for the kids, etc.

It really makes you wonder how they assess the info they are given, especially when you have the experience, and the points so you don't actually need SS AND have relatives there........bizarre  Good luck with the appeal if thats what you decide

I am really sorry to hear that grant6607 and bagonzo. Things would work better after this slowdown is gone and again IT would be in demand. Esp in Oz the rules keep changing very fast.

Can you please share your ASCO code along with the specialization, as it would really help others in anticipating what is ahead.

Hi Suni123, ASCO code is 2231-79 Java Specialist, MODL + CSL

My ASCO is 2231-79 (Java Specialist). I have 9 years expereince.

Thanks for all the well wishes. It is certainly a bit of a disappointment but by no means a surprise. Based on all original feedback I had heard IT don't generally get sponsored for whatever reason but it was worth a try.

I lodged my 175 in June so hopefully I remain on the CSL and get a CO soon. If not so be it. Unfortunately it is all out of our control so all we can do is roll with the punches.

It seems very odd to me that often the experienced people don't get in - I wonder if they have some sort of age preference?

Seems to me you should be able to show that you have thoroughly investigated a move to Victoria and haopefully they will realise that once you put in your appeal.

Plus if you have been teaching you can show you have the ability to pass these skills onto other Australians...

It really makes you wonder how they assess the info they are given, especially when you have the experience, and the points so you don't actually need SS AND have relatives there........bizarre

I agree it all seems quite strange.

Good luck with the appeal Bagonzo

Fingers still crossed Koroleva, Freebo and Suni - looks like they are on an IT phase hoping you get positive replies soon.
