my IELTS score was 6.5 listening, 8.5 writing, 8.5 speaking, 8 reading. So now if I go and sit my ILETS again and meet their new requirements by the time they will process my application ( it's been already 4 months now) the rules will change again and they will give me the same outcome- can't process your application. This is a joke... I can not keep up with all these changes which only cost the immigrants hundreds of pounds and with no result.

Sorry to hear that but as you got 8+ for your other 3 IELTS tests it just sounds like you had a small issue with the format of the listening (I'm sure I would have if I hadn't done a practise to know what to expect).

FWIW when I did my IELTS I found a test center with one place left the following weekend (had to travel 150 miles & stay over the night before), then got the result 2 weeks later - it was something like 2.5-3 weeks from deciding to do it to getting the result.

On their official website it is also stated that in order to be eligible for sponsorship you need to have English knowledge at a Competent Level - my IELTS score was 6.5 listening, 8.5 writing, 8.5 speaking, 8 reading. So now if I go and sit my ILETS again and meet their new requirements by the time they will process my application ( it's been already 4 months now) the rules will change again and they will give me the same outcome- can't process your application.

The social work industry's new requirement that social workers have a minimum standard of English at IELTS Level 7 to perform in this occupation in the Australian labour market means that, for Victorian Government sponsorship, you are now required to meet this threshold.

As you have indicated that you do not meet this requirement, we are unable to process your application further.

Please quote Reference Number : SS-2009-06922 in all of your communication to us.

Hi Taylor,

Sorry to hear this. Now a days Oz Immi law/policies are the most volatile.

Do you know if the new requirement for IELTS > 7.0 is pertaining only to social work industry's or all applications in general?

I think you have scored well in other sections - you can give the test in a weeks times, if you are planning to take up the exam again.

Regards,

Suni

Hi to all,

I am relatively new to posting on this site, and would like to say it's really good to find so many helpful people.

I am looking for some help myself. I filled out an on-line application for VIC SS a couple of weeks ago, but still have not had any responce, I was wondering what is the average wait before they send confirmation, that they have recived your on-line application. I have tracked it on their web-site an a case ID was added the same day I sent it, but I don't know if this is an automatic procedure.

I know after reading other posts, that many people wait months to get an outcome of the VIC SS, so I know a couple of weeks is nothing, but I am just checking to see if they email to confirm they have recived your application or is the case ID confirmation of this.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Scott

AFAIR the case ID was the only confirmation, mine took 3.5 months to get approved, sadly a long wait is no indication of success.

Thanks Suni123...

Can anyone tell me if possible if there is any substantial data which states that the panel for Vic SS sits together to take decisions on applications every month or 2 months?

From the grants or rejections of applicants around may be if someone can guess?

If somebody can put forth some data acccording to which we can say that the IT related panel sits around for a meeting every 2 months or so...

I think then that can be useful for people to guess whether to go for Vic or any other state for sponsorship which will save their time.

I know on the Vic state website it is mentioned that the application processing time is around 6-8 weeks. But the applications are not processed and outcome is not reached within this period. So we cannot say that the panel sits after every 6-8 weeks.

Thanks in advance..

Hi Scott - just got into an internet cafe so this is in haste - will be back online properly later this week (been away for 5 weeks). You should get a reference number e.g "SS-2009-*****" - look through other posts in this thread. VIC have lost a few applications and the majority of those never got lodged or recieve an application number. Hope yours is back with you now - I think most people got them by return but some did not get them for a couple of weeks. If you don't have one yet I would suggest you send them an email asking them to confirm they reeived your application.

Hi Khotkunal

I am currently not at home (been away from a proper internet connection for 5 weeks) I will add your details later this week or next week once I get home.

But in the meantime a big welcome to the Victoria SS thread.

I don't think there is any info that suggest that Victoria sit every 2 months or so - just that they do seem to look at applications in the same occupation at the same time with regard to the industrial panels. I think it is hard to predict when they will get together - there are a few earlier posts on this in this thread.

Good luck I think some of the early engineer applications did hear quite quickly but maybe they were just lucking in that they put in applications just before their panel sat?

Hello Vickeymel,

Thanks for your reply.Add me to the thread whenever you get time.

Regarding the Vic SS panel meetings nobody knows when they will sit.

Anyways as per the threads on the first page we can may be guess that they had sat around 20th Oct because lot of outcomes came around that period.

I hope they sit before the christmas break.

Also one more important thing which I read on this forum in some thread is that, last week somebody had attended a immigration fair in Europe (i do not remember the thread) the DIAC people were present and said that they had completed the new MODL review and have handed over the report to Chris Evans. So hopefully he would announce the new list around christmas or jan first week if he decides to change it around christmas or may be around march.

So fingers crossed for SS and MODL list..

Thanks in advance...

Yesterday I got an rejection email for my ss apllication (social worker, been waiting 6 months for a reply);

We consult with industry to determine which occupations are currently "in demand" in Victoria, and seek advice to determine whether individual applicants would be "employable" or not for the current Victorian labour market. We do this because we need to ensure our sponsored migrants have the skills and specialisations on our Skilled – Sponsored Eligibility List which are in shortage in the current market, and to ensure that skilled migrants have a realistic chance of employment when they arrive in Victoria.

In this case, our advice indicated that your skills and experience did not match the current industry requirements. This decision was based on an evaluation of your qualifications and your years of work experience, taking into account the current needs within Victoria’s regions and industries.

I am very sad and totally awestruck. They need people in child protection, which is an area I have expercience in and they are recruiting people through this forum and the Australia fairs.

I have send them an email about how to appeal but no reply just yet (IF THEY WILL EVER REPLY). I have very little trust in Victoria left. Up untill now they have not been very helpfull and willing to give me any answers.

:-(

Hello hmva,

I feel sorry about you. You had to wait 6 months and now they say is that they do not need your skills. It is very wrong on their part.

I hope you apply to other states where they require your skills. hope so they realise their mistake and consider you again. Please if possible mail them in detail that they are advertising jobs in your field and why they have rejected your application.

Best of luck...

I am really sorry to hear this. But I would suggest you to try sending and email with explination and importance of your nature of your work at VIC. However, please do it with no expectations, and also there is nothting wrong in giving a try. Also hope your CO allocation date my be getting nearer. Do look forward for the best. Best Wishes.

Thanx for the advice! I send an email to VIC today with about 20 job vacanies which I could apply for and a letter asking them to have a look at my application and these job vacanies. Trying to not to have too much hope, will just see what they say and will apply for a 175 in the meantime.

Hello Vickymel,

I have read on other forum and one more person Reddy from India had received his Vic SS today. He is Computing professional C,C++. CSL and MODL as well.

He had applied on 28/9/09 and received on 15/12/09.

Please add to the timelines.

I guess as hmva received the outcome and one more person has receied the outcome, the panel might be sitting around now. The computing professional panel is sitting for sure we can guess.

Hope so all the other waiting computing professionals receive their outcomes soon.

Thanks in advance..

Hi KK

I have added you to the thread. Earlier in this thread we found that panels for the different occupations sit at different times. So when computer people on this thread started getting feedback from VIC all the other computer people heard, scientists heard at a different time from them and enginners at a different time again - so there seem to be a number of different panels. So keep an eye out for when people in your occupation start hearing and hopefully you will hear back at a similar time.

Thanks for adding me to the list.

You might look for a posting in the vacancies section of PIO - there was an employment agency in Victoria looking for social workers... may be you could look at the possibility of an ENS?

Also maybe check back I think Taylor20 mentioned Victoria now requires IELTS 7+ for all social workers?

Good luck VM

I think most of us were told between 8 and 12 weeks estimated wait until we heard back. However, some people took a lot longer than this - while others heard back very quickly.

Good luck for hearing back quickly with your occupation.
