Hi, yeah but i was told to get meds done before 23rd Sept!!!

and my daughter will be 18 in Dec, so panicking a bit now.

Gillianx

Keep your hopes up - I am sure they will be a major outcry for people who were told by DIAC to get meds & PCCs processed prior to the 23rd Sept.

I really hoped that they will be told to process you guys swiftly - it seems appauling if they would not do so.

I'm sure things will settle a bit shortly and more clarity will be there and they will get to grips with the repercissions such as yours that they maybe had not taken into consideration.

Give it a couple of weeks and all may be looking rosy again - unfortunately I imagine it is all guessing till then so try not to stress too much until we know more.

I think your OH employer was one of the big firms?? maybe they are eligible to provide ENS sponsorship - probably worth contacting them.

Alternatively there is probably some temporary visa that can be converted to PR once the 176 comes through?

I'm sure thre will be a solution for you

All I can say is the best person to tell you exactly your situation is your agent, the rest of us are going by what we've read on here and by what our agents have told us about our individual circumstances.

We could each give you an opinion but if you're using an agent that's what you've paid them for.

Can I suggest you really need to speak to your agent ASAP.

Hi All

Still waiting to hear from VIC - hopefully they have been busy approving us all in the industry panels and all of us waiting will get positive emails tomorrow... (wishful thinking :notworthy: no actually we are worthy the government maybe just don't realise their mistake yet :skeptical:)

Looking forward to the next one of us to have some positive news...

I came across this link. Sorry it does not say anything new and I'm mainly using it to bump the thread up a bit and hope we can get some more hopefuls joining us here it's going to be a longer wait than we expected- but thought it may be of some interest as it shows that agents should be getting a similar letter to that sent to us by Victoria.

Its an update (29/9) by Alan Collet on the Go Matilda website. I've cut bits out in the middle re the priorities so go to the link at Go Matilda for the full details.

Skilled Migration: Victorian Government Response to Changes in Processing Priorities

Author: Alan Collett Date: Tuesday, September 29, 2009 We have received a communication in our capacity as Australian migration advisors from the Skilled Migration Team at the State Government of Victoria following the Federal Immigration Minister's announcement of last week concerning skilled visa processing priorities.

This advises as follows:

"You are most likely aware that the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has set new priority processing arrangements for certain Skilled Migration visas. The current priority processing Direction commenced on 23 September 2009.

The Direction applies to applications in the pipeline that have not been finalised, and to applications lodged with DIAC on or after 23 September 2009.

Under the Ministerial Direction, the following processing priorities (with highest priority listed first) apply:

... I have cut a section out from here it is the list of 7 priorities...

If your client's nominated occupation is not on the Critical Skills List (CSL) and they applied to Victoria for a Skilled - Sponsored (subclass 176) sponsorship before 23 September 2009, or intend to apply before the end of 2009, DIAC has stated that it is unlikely that their visa will be finalised before the end of 2012.

Victoria will however continue to process State Sponsorships based on our skills in demand list. This means that your client's application will be given priority once the higher priority groups are finalised in accordance with the Ministerial Direction. Without an occupation on the CSL, or sponsorship by an employer, State Government or family member resident in Australia, your client’s application will not be processed until after 2012."

Hi Vicky,

Its strange isn't it, very few SS approvals from Vic in the last couple of months, some time ago I filled in a request for info on the ACT website, this week I get a huge info pack by airmail with job agencies, lifestyle brochures, immi settlement programmes, property papers & even a free pen :cute:

Seems like ACT really want to attract people, and I have to say at the moment it seems Vic don't :nah:

Ohhhhh a free pen :jiggy:

With all this negative vibe coming for the Australian government with these priority changes - I know you should not take it personally but you can't help feeling do they really want us or are they just shoving us around until we get fed up and give up.

I suppose we've also seen some pretty blunt responces from VIC to some people here and on other sites - although they were good with Eva getting her things sorted.

Have to say that even though I know we applied to VIC because that is where we want to be that I'd be very tempted if someone actually appeared to be keen to encourage and entice me. It must be great to feel wanted

Good news - I've turned BLUE:cool:

Got SS 30-09-09 after it being lost. They did push me through ture to there word. By the way, no matter what the agent says you do get a tracking number. I got one when the re-applied so my agent was telling fibbs

Bad News:-

I'm in the same boat as everyone else i.e. moved to priority 5:arghh: because of the delay (1 week would have done it). Lodged full 176 visa application today as I may as well stand in line rather than do nothing. I've been hearing that a shake-up is due at the end of the year and things could go either way (with Future Skills list taking over from CSL & MODL). I'm going to try and get a sponsor but I don't hold much hope

Really hope that the States cause DIAC to change there minds as some people are suggesting. The economy is doing better that they ever expected so maybe the demand will rise again. Who knows?

Great news Congratulations ScottishSteve I have turned you BLUE on the first page.

That was too long a wait and you really have missed out due to it with the changes of the 23rd.

But none the less Brownie points to VIC for for speeding things up for you the second time around.

Yes fingers crossed that with all the pressure from the complaints and the proposed changes re CSL and MODL next year to a potential FSL that things will have a positive change for us with SS next year.

Congratulations ScottishSteve.

So in case people who have applied for GSM-175 and later somewhere in the mid way receives a SS AND notifies DIAC of accepting the SS. Does this mean that they are moved to the end of the queue for a GSM-176 application? Kindly clarify.

Also how long doe it take for CO allocation after SS is provided.

Another thing I have now is not many IT applications are getting through for VIC SS. I guess they are more inclined towards people from non-IT profession.?

Thanks,

Bit of mixed emotions but at least I'm in the queue:twitcy:. Agent has given me the TRN number for the visa application so I feel a bit better that I can check for myself.

Got a feeling that the changes to the priority list will put a lot of other people off starting the process so hopefully the rest of us hanging in will benifit

Hi Suni

I have no idea re the first two of your queries - maybe someone else here does? (if not maybe start a new thread to catch the attention of others) - but with the 23 Sept changes I imagine it is very hard to guess at anyway at the moment.

Re the third - I really don't know, again just a guess and it is too soon to tell from this thread - but it is possible that VIC SS Industry Panel meetings mean that sponsorship may be given to the different occupation groups then have a bit of a lull in between??

So maybe there is a gap between giving IT sponsorships and this is why you have not seen any given for a long time - rather than there not being many applications getting through..? Don't know this its just a guess of course - but I think you would see more refusals coming through for IT rather than leaving them to wait.

I think that VIC are known to refuse some IT applicants more often than other states..? But I don't think anyone knows what they are selecting on when they do this?

Just seen this post by Gill / Gollywobbler

http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/70072-176-vic-ss.html#post590671

"VIC refuse something like 40% of the State sponsorship applications which they receive, I am told."

I knew they were like that with IT but hope it doesn't apply to all occupations..?

Lots of people have inquired and many got the same response "at an industry pannel", I actually think Vic have most occupations (including mine, IT), "on hold" for some reason. I know they've turned a lot down in the past, again especially IT but now they just seem to be sitting on them, it would be good to know their intentions.

I'm a couple of days short of 14 weeks, and many others more than that.

Last week Victoria had speedily processed ScottishSteve's application after the initial one got lost somewhere in the system and he turned blue.

Hang on in there Vinnie one of the good things about being on the thread is that you know you are not the only one waiting... and you can get a feel for what is happening ...or rather not happening!

Gosh I hope not Freebo - its bad enough the government changing the goal posts on us, lets hope Victoria does not as well.

Although maybe they are having a rethink... with these recent changes I have to wonder if they will redo their list to aim at skills they are likely to need in the future rather than now...

It would be good to know their intentions - but from the email they sent out after the 23rd I read it as if it suggested that they were going to carry on as normal?

Yes, I saw the update they sent out too, I suppose should just sit tight like everyone else but can't help wondering if any progress is happening with the longer term applications. I suppose its down to the expectation of 10-12 weeks which was what came back when the application was originally made.

I'm not sure if the rest of us are siting tight  - my bum can't keep still it's itching so much to hear something from VIC!

You are right with Victoria - thinking back it did seem that previously they did seem to keep within or close to the 8 week estimate they previously gave...

So maybe there is something happening for it to be extending - although I do think they got a lot more applications due to the previous changes when 176 became a priority... We were estimated a wait of approx 10 weeks we are close to 15 now - and "awaiting industrial panel".

I wonder what people are currently being told - but I think the people who applied in Sept were still being told 10-12 weeks..? But then many occupations were still hearing back quickly.

I wonder what they're waiting for to approve our ss... there are not many life scientists who've applied to vic... and i've read that victoria is seeking life scientists... yet we're still awaiting our approval... i do hope that our waiting has some positive outcome behind it... who knows maybe life scientist will be included in the CSL or MODL... :P hehehe...

anyway, just venting my frustration to bump this thread up... (i love it when there's reply in this thread)

hi vickymel,

My vic ss is not approved... following is their email...

Thank you for your application for sponsorship under the 176 - Sponsored visa scheme.

Following a review of the information you have provided to the Skilled and Business Migration Program, we regret to inform you that the Victorian Government is not in a position to sponsor you under the Skilled – Sponsored scheme.

We consult with industry to determine which occupations are currently "in demand" in Victoria, and seek advice to determine whether individual applicants would be "employable" or not for the current Victorian labour market. We do this because we need to ensure our sponsored migrants have the skills and specialisations on our Skilled – Sponsored Eligibility List which are in shortage in the current market, and to ensure that skilled migrants have a realistic chance of employment when they arrive in Victoria.

In this case, our advice indicated that your skills and experience did not match the current industry requirements. This decision was based on an evaluation of your qualifications and your years of work experience, taking into account the current needs within Victoria’s regions and industries.

Note that we would be happy to reassess your application should you be able to obtain a valid offer of employment in your nominated occupation within Victoria, and your occupation remains eligible for sponsorship.

so sad...:arghh: don't know what to do now... any other suggestions...

vinnie80 - so sorry to hear your news. We also had a rejection (electrician) but we are in the process of challenging it at the moment, as the reasons given did not make sense, - re: qualifications when my OH is more than qualified and has his Vetassess to prove it. Do you think you could challenge your decision?

Hi Vinnie

Ohhhhhhh Vinnie  - I'm so sorry to hear this - I don't know what to suggest.

It looks to me like Victoria are saying that it is maybe your experience that doesn't match their requirements? If that is the case it is useful as I think several people have not really been told what the reason for rejection is which can make it difficult to know what to double check.

Do you have the necessary years experience in the job that VIC stated they needed? If you decide to go ahead and ask them to reconsider maybe you could list out your experience very specifically so they can see you have the necessary experience.

I'll PM you now.

Oh Vinnie I'm so sorry - we'll get you there a few weeks ago I dreamt several of us on this thread, including you, were walking through a park together in Melbourne . So you've got to be going there.

Thanks vicky, n111kx and freebo for all the advices given...

although i'm disappointed but i am kind of relief actually coz now i don't have to guess whether my application is approved or not... i'm currently trying to figure out other alternative to apply for visa... i can't apply for 175 because i still lack 5 points... i can apply for 176 through family sponsorship (my hubby's uncle is there)... unfortunately, the relationship is too far that we are in lack of documentarial evidence to support our claim... his uncle really wants us to come there and he is willing to sponsor us... i'm so confused...

anyway, vickymel, my results is already out... did u get your results??? i hope u will get good news soon...

Vinnie,

I'm so sorry for your news hun, nearly cried when i read (having a bit of a sh** day myself!!!). Is there any way you could get a job offer if they are looking for life scientists in Vic, like vickymel said Vic may have rejected cos of experience but an employer might rip your arm off!! Sorry if thats not very helpful, I don't know much about your line of work. Hope you find a way, treat yourself to something nice tonight to make yourself feel better xx

Vinnie,

I am so sorry to read about this bad news esspecialy their automatic response. My friend got the same email from them 3 months ago. I suggest you to ask them to clarify their rejection. Could you increase your points if you take IELTS? It is 10 points more.

I got email from them today also. They send me "Skilled Sponsored Declaration" to sign and asked me to write some statement about commitment Victoria since i noted that i have a friend in WA. What do you think, is this mean that my application is in final stage? I will write this required statement, sign this declaration and send them tomorrow. Does anyone have an idea what to write about commitment Victoria and how long it supose to be?
