Hi to everyone north and south of the border. We"re finding our feet again due to family circumstntces which haulted our process last year. Have any of you heard of Premier Migration, just filling in the TRA and wondering weather to use an agent, daughter is 22 and has also to have a TRA done. Cheers for any help and fair play to you all who got to the end of this mad process

Hi Teresa, sorry have not heard of Premier Migration, however, we did use an agent, im not very well organised so feel without an agent I would never have gotten through the process. Used one in Co Kildare if you want details let me know. We got our 176 SS visa early January and hope to make the move to Perth this year!!!!! God nerves are gone thinking of all we need to do. Good luck with the process to you and the family. KAY

Hi Hazel & Cuba

Great posts and thanks for keeping the rest of us up to date and being so positive! We just sent our container away of Friday and booked our flights last week also - fly to Perth on 22nd March. Its all getting very final now and we're really excited albeit hate the thoughts of saying goodbye to family and friends - wish I could zoom past that bit. We have 3 boys 10, 12 and 14 so hoping to get them into a good school before the beginning of the second term. Delighted to hear that there seems to be plenty of work out there, OH is a carpenter/builder and we have no work lined up as yet so we'll be in at the deep end straight away. Good luck to you and hope it just gets better and better for you!

Don't know what the situation is in Perth but its not a massive risk coming out without a job. The second best thing to a having a job lined up is having contacts in the area. Either way if you have some cash behind you to survive a few months you'll be fine. The economy is not booming here but it is ticking along nicely. My wife is an architect (in Melbourne) and her office is expanding now as they are being flooded with new work - architects are the first to notice when the building trade is going to get busy coz they're (obviously) at the start of the process. So, my guess is you'll be grand after a few months.

Hi folks,

I'm from Dublin and I'm due to start work in Melbourne in Feb. The company I'm going to be working with have put me in touch with some law firm that specialise in immigration and they are dealing with my application. It's for a 457 visa and the forms I filled out said a medical shouldn't be required unless I had any existing medical issues. It seems like everyone else has had to do a medical from what I can gather on here. I should have an update from the lawyers in a couple of days and they've sorted a couple of other Irish people I know out without any issues so fingers crossed!

I'm moving out on my own(seems like I'm in the minority on that front!) and don't know anyone out there, bar a distant cousin, but I'm really looking forward to the move. It looks like Melbourne will be a great place to live and work. I'll be working in the CBD so I'll probably live somewhere relatively central.

hey Karl

if you need any info on moving to melbourne then drop me a line and i'll see if i can help.

Hi All,

Greetings from Perth we arrived on November 17th and hubbie found work almost immeadetly he is a Chef work is grand but very long hours I know its the industry but for the hours he is putting in 70+ he takes home about 850 a week, thank god we get the family assistance which works out at 660 inc rent assistance every 2 weeks for 3 kids so that really helps I am looking at going back to work in admin so hopefully we will be better off then, its not that you could not manage on that money shopping costs us about 200 per week and rent is 200 but we came with no furniture so every spare bob is being used to buy that! Word to the wise be aware you will have to be here at least 3 months working before you will get credit cards or credit which we did not know and were kind of hoping we would get but anyway we will get there eventually!! Other than that we are loving Perth kids are really happy in school its amazing they do so much with them i worried at first my little boy might fall behind or get bored but they really work at the childs level every class has an assistant up to year 2/3 so that makes a huge difference and my son was at home in a class of 35 here its only 25 so he really came on leaps and bounds in only a few short weeks. Seems to be pleanty of work here though interest rates are going up on Mortgages so economy is on the up, I have a good circle of friends and none of them are not working electritcions, plumbers, painters all trades really so its looking good for new arrivals!! Any questions dont hesitate to ask, Has Cuba been on lately how is he getting on does anyone know?

Hey Hazel

hows life in perth these last few weeks?

Dont mind that its cooler though. everyone enjoying life here. we're renting here too and will be for the forseeable future - will look to buy some time but am waiting for interest rates to go up a bit to take the market back a peg or two....too many people chasing houses at the moment.

Ireland is a beautiful country but there is a little bit of a problem!!! Its a really expensive country to live in and people are losing their jobs, loads of companies closing down and the weather can be pretty awful!!!

Yes Ireland is VERRY expensive it has to be said and the weather is awful. We have had 6 months of winter now and it is only starting to warm up and it is the middle of MArch. Ireland may seem beautiful and stable and attractive to those who dont live in it and to some degree it is a nice place to live. However we have decided to move because we feel that the lifestyle in Oz will suit us much better. My OH lived in Oz for 4 years so he has the experience. Because of the weather in Ireland we dont get the opportunity to live an outdoor lifestyle which is really attractive to us.

Indeed Kirk and Co, duing the propery boom years farmers sold their land ' that has given so much' to property developers for VAST sums of money. In the village I live in, a farmer sold just under 12 acres of to a developer for 3 1/2 million euro!!! Now there are approx 250,000 empty houses in Ireland that have never been lived in- houses that stand on the once beautiful green fields of Ireland.

Hi everyone, what a joke IRELAND is at the moment and i for one am getting my children out while i can. The politician's can stick THEIR country because every day more and more people are loosing their jobs and they are doing NOTHING .

My OH lost his job in November after working for the same company for 18 years ( ELECTRICIAN) since then their has been 1 job yes i said 1 job advertised in fas that was suitable for him. Its so hard to be positive about the place, even the weather is soooo depressing.....

Sorry rant and rave over had to get that off my chest i know many people are in the same boat.

On a lighter note HAPPY ST PADDIES DAY.

OH THANK GOD!!!

I thought it was just me... all my friends like to have a quick moan about Ireland but they dont really see the BIG mess it is in. Its a really Irish thing to just "accept your lot" and they think Im some sort of traitor for "running when things get a bit tough" (as one lovely friend put it to me)

Im so out of here. The future of any country is in health and education.. and the fools above in Dublin have sliced both up beyond repair IMO....... so NO things will not improve, only get worse because they are not investing in this countrys future. Its very sad.
