  1. Hi we have been advised by an agent that we are likely to get turned down for a visa because our 3 year old son is disabled. He has global developmental delay and autism. He cannot walk or talk yet but is on his way to learning to walk. He is not on any medication and has no need of medical help apart from speech therapy and physiotherapy which we provide. He does have a statement for educaional needs. Just wondering if anyone else has been in similar situation and have you any advice? Riggers
  2. Hi Me and my Wife and our 2 children and her sister & fiance are trying to emigrate to Australia. I am a rental sales coordinator for pressure control in the oil & gas industry, I have 6 years experience in pressure control working on & offshore. My wife works in an after school club in our local area which works well round our 2 children, she has worked there for 6 years and is also qualified as a classroom assistant. My sister in law is a full time Nursery Nurse with her svq level 3 and has 5 years experience and her fiance is a warehouse operative within the oil industry and has 2 years experience in this and has 2 years experience as a banksman slinger also within the oil industry. My children are 8 & 4 so will need to be enrolled in school, once there. We will have equity for coming across due to the sale of our home in Aberdeen. We need information on almost everything, from visas to schooling. We would really like to know how house buying works over there, i.e mortgages and how much of a mortgage you can get with what salary. We are hoping to find work before coming across but dont know if our areas of work are relevant in Australia. Also how does the taxing system work over there and paying for health care etc.. We do not know which part of Australia we would be moving too as yet but would be hoping for west Australia or Adelade etc.. If anyone could answer these it would be appreciated Thanks Tommy

    Finally going!!!

Hi all! This is my first post here on POI, but I just wanted to say that I've finally booked my flights! I fly out to Perth on the 12th Feb! So I know I haven't been waiting as long as some of you on here, but I finished university last June with a degree in Geology and have been looking for jobs since that time. After a few that have fallen through for various reasons I decided to just book my flights and see what happens when I get there. I have a friend from uni who is already over there working for a mineral resource company who has very kindly offered me a place to stay while I get myself together. Are there any other either graduates or geologists taking the plunge any time soon? Really really can't wait!!!!!!! Perth here I come!

    emmigrating to perth

hi all, my name is tracy I live with my partner felix who is maltese and I have 3 children. I am a 3rd year student midwife due to qualify in september, I am very interested in emmigrating to perth. I would very much welcome any information on all aspects of living in perth, also midwifery jobs, such as would I need to have any experience, or do hospitals except newly qualified midwives from UK. We have done a little research ourselves via internet sites, interested in hearing from ex-pats who can give more info particularly pro's & cons. Looking forward to replies Tracy:smile:
  5. Hi all, have gone through various posts on this but still not 100% clear. Question is, should when I emmigrate later this year aged 31 I stay in Aus permanently up to Retirement age, how would that effect my state pension as and when I come to retirement? I hear things about "freezing", but that doesn't mean much to me. I guess ulitmately I want to know how working full time between the ages of 21 to 31 in the UK (with various School & Uni holiday work between the age of 16-21) effect my final state pension? Thanks.
  6. My husband has recieved a court summons for driving with no insurance! He was driving a car insured by his work, hes a motor mechanic, his boss gave him the insurance document after some dilly dallying and we went to the police station at first oppertunity. We have now found out after getting this summons that his boss has never paid for the insurance and so it was cancelled. Our own car has always been fully comp and we have never had any dealing with the police or court before (apart form driving points) my husband has a clean licence and now faces 6-8 points and a fine of £5k. There is nothing we can do as jobs are few and far between so he'll have to stay with this employer who keeps fobbing him off saying oh it was the wrong document i'm having the other insurance sent over. I doubt he has insurance at all! Will a court fine/prosecution stop us emmigrating and if we can emmigrate will the points have an impact on employment or oz car insurance? Thanks

  8. Helllooo, Im a fourteen year old girl and its a possibilty that i might be moving to Perth as we are in the process of applying for our visas. We've already been over and stayed in Perth for a month and i love the idea of living out there permenantly its just Im kindaa worried though that if we do move i wont fit in being the 'english girl' and that it will hard to make friends at a new school at the other side of the world. Im excited about the idea of moving just wanna know some more information about it all from anyone else whos in the process of or already has moved,, thanks... x
  9. Hello all! We have made the decision to emmigrate to Australia! I am Australian anyway, after living 14years in the UK! My husband is British and we have a 9month old daughter. We are 'with child' again and are hoping to emmigrate before the baby is due in November...hoping anyway! A couple of questions: 1. We are just about to lodge the application for my husbands Spouse Visa (how long did it take you?) 2. My husband is a self employed Electrician, does he need to complete Vetassess or can he be assessed once we are out there? 3. How long does it take to get the medical for my husband? (I have put him on a strict diet LOL) Any advice would be appreciated... The Mandrek Family!!
