Thanks Snifter, much appreciated. - Yeah its all up in the air for us but at least we have 'some' visa (a BVB) for 'some' time. We are in WA so there isnt an official place to register a relationship here (other than Melville council). 13 months BVB is better than nothing ( be it an expensive BVB (ie having to pay for an 820 application). Anyway worst case scenario that would give us enough time to sort out an english test/skills assesment for 190/189/alternative visa here or somewhere else & we 'should' both be able to keep working in the meantime which is an offset really. I have been through the Onshore process and I didnt hear anything from my Case office until about 10 months into the processing time and then that was for them to ask for further evidence. I did preload my medical and Police checks though.

If its in WA and WA does not recognise the registering of relationships then I doubt it will be acceptable to immigration for visa purposes alas.

 

10 months sounds about right from what I recall of other timelines. They generally don't get in touch till later on with on shore applications. Hopefully they'll use their discretion with your police and medical if the 12 month mark comes round and they expire rather than making you redo them.

Ah that process is all done and dusted now anyways, so no need to extend my medicals etc.... but they did tell me they could extend them for 6 months anyways... Im now awaiting a hearing with MRT and/or my Offshore application!

No news yet Aussiegirl. Every time my phone beeps with an email I rush to open it. In 2 days I hit the 10 month mark. Surely it's anyday now.

We had read that people over 16 needed the Police check,but our case officer only asked for mine and my wife's at the start. The case officer did apologies and said it was an oversight on her part. Any way we paid and applied for an express service for the Police check on Wednesday night and it arrived on Friday so its now uploaded and now we sit and wait ;-)

Its normal for anyone over 16 on an application to provide a police check. They do explain this in the partner visa PDF and on the immigration website.

 

Was your child 15 at the time of lodging? If so, that would probably explain why it was not asked for when the applicant was asked to do their police check. If the child was 16 at the time of lodging then it was an oversight on their part and as they are now probably reviewing the file for grant they have noted the age and so are asking for the police check.

 

 

 

FWIW, anyone reading this with a child over 16 going on an application would probably be better to get one done when they get theirs and send it in at the same time.

Hubbie is due back from Australia this week, he was away when my visa was granted so looking forward to proper celebrations! Hopefully we will also be celebrating him securing a job in Sydney. Well today we have heard from the case officer after submitting the Penal Clearance they requested!!

 

""All requested information has now been submitted and I will be in touch once we are in a position to finalise the application. Please note that current processing times remain at approximately 10 – 14 months from lodgement date. The application was lodged on 31/12/14.""

 

Must be standard reply as they are still quoting 10-14 mths .... lets hope its closer to the 10 mths like everyone else ;-)

Hi guys, just a quick update, I was assigned my case officer yesterday (VF) which is almost 3 months since I applied so everything is starting to feel real now!

However, I was wondering if anybody could help me with something. My CO asked that I complete my medical on or soon after 24/10/15 but I'll be on holiday in Melbourne at this time and I don't return home until the 5/11/15. I was wondering if anybody knows wether I would be able to do my medical while I'm over there or does it have to be undertaken in the UK? If not should I just let my CO know that I will be a bit late?

i submitted my application on 19th & have been asked to do medicals 19th dece, it's normally 6 months after u submit yr application. When did u put yr applications in? U say about 3mths so I'm thinking about same time as me? So meds would be due dece not October!

Thank you very much. Getting married in Fort William in Scotland on the 9th April 2016 then a blessing in Perth Western Australia on the 24th April 2016.
