We shipped our worldly possessions at the end of February this year. We arrived in Sydney in the first week of March and our stuff was still sat in a warehouse back in the UK for a couple of weeks. We used a shared container, so we must have been waiting for it to fill up before it set off on its voyage. It arrived in port at the end of April and is due to be delivered this Tuesday (yay!) Since arrival in Australia it's taken a further two weeks to go from port to warehouse for quarantine and customs inspection. Door to door in just under 11 weeks. We were originally quoted 8-12 weeks depending on the ship.

Wow! You were very brave and organised! We are looking at shipping our belongings by groupage as we don't have enough stuff to fill a container for sole use, but are over volume for a move cube. We have chosen a company now and managed to negotiate a decent discount on the price per square foot plus a discount on the insurance. Happy days!

Has anyone tried shipping ikea wicker baskets successfully? These are commercially produced and mine have never been used outdoors. Some shipping companies have said take them, others have said don't!

Has anyone had any recent experience with John Mason, Anglo Pacific, Bournes or PSS? We have had them all out to quote (with the exception of PSS, which we did an online quote with based on the cubic footage estimations given by the other companies). There is not much difference to be honest in the prices, apart from one company who have estimated a 100 cubic feet difference (less). Even still, the price per cubic foot is relatively the same - we are aware the true cost will only be realised when our belongings arrive at the company's depot. So all in all, we are looking at choosing our removal company based on recommendation. We would really appreciate some good feedback here!! Also, has anyone managed to negotiate a lower price?

Hubbie is due back from Australia this week, he was away when my visa was granted so looking forward to proper celebrations! Hopefully we will also be celebrating him securing a job in Sydney. Will be a huge relief for us. In his absence I have been busy selling our house! All beginning to feel a lot more real now.

Thanks Tracy, I was told in my initial letter of acknowledgement after I submitted my application when to apply for my police check and do my medical - which was 6 months after applying.

We now need to sell our home and are planning on moving to Sydney in the new year. Better start telling friends and family now! We were hoping for the 100 bobby122 as we have been together for almost 9 years, married for half of that time, but you always wonder until it happens!

WOO HOO! WOO HOO!! Hi everyone, just thought I'd share the fab news that my visa was granted two days ago (hangover only just gone for me to be able to post on here!!) Gone straight to the 100 too. I have been given until the 28 May 2016 to validate, which is 12 months from when I did my police check, which I did after my medical. For all those that worry about contact from CO's - apart from an initial letter of acknowledgement when I submitted my application, I never had any contact with my CO and trusted that if they needed anything they would let me know. So no news, is good news! Thank you to all those that post words of support and advice on this forum and help many of us through what is a stressful process. I wish everyone a happy ending to their journey.

Hoorah! Yes, his account will link up to yours if he's used your TRN. My hubbie did the same and I could see his 40sp form in my IMMI account pretty soon after submission and then saw the status change to Approved once all his supporting documents were uploaded.

The only things I uploaded after I made my original application with all the supporting documents, were my police and medical checks. Hasn't ever occurred to me to carry on uploading evidence. I think if your application is strong enough, what you up loaded at the beginning is sufficient, unless A) Your CO asks for further evidence or B) You are waiting on documents. I remember reading in the Partner Migration booklet that your application should be as complete as possible when you lodge your application. "If you do not provide all the necessary documents, the department may make a decision based on the information you have provided. It is therefore in your interests to support your Partner Visa application with as much information as possible at the time you lodge your application." This would suggest that any info uploaded after lodgement (unless requested) may not get looked at. Good luck!

Hi Amandaandchris, There is another thread which has thousands of pages of advice and support for Partner visa applicants http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/58449-summary-spouse-visa-processing-times-offshore-uk-please-add-your-stats.html Currently the waiting time for applications is 10-14 months and people are finding it's taking several weeks now for a CO to be allocated. When I applied I had a CO in 24 hours, but just like the assessment period and cost, things are constantly changing! Lots of applicants go over on a tourist visa whilst they are waiting, just make sure your CO is informed. Your CO will contact you when the visa is about to be issued, so you can make arrangements to be out Oz. Most people make a side trip to Bali or NZ and then re-enter on their partner visa. Thanks Goose! BTW, the 100 is the second stage of the 309 partner visa - normally granted two years after the 309. The 100 entitles you to permanent residence and to apply for Australian citizenship. Some 309 applicants go straight to a 100 grant because they have been with their partner for more than three years, or two years if they and their partner have a dependant child. Hope this stops you scratching your head in puzzlement!
