Hi

I know I cannot believe its been a year since we started the process, it has gone so quickly

We have had the house up for sale for three weeks now (feels like forever) I am very impatient !! I just hope the housing market improves, there are so many people just waiting to sell their houses before they can go - its just all doom and gloom

Fingers crossed for you !!!

Take care and speak soon

Hi Debbie, Fingers crossed for the MODL, we have not heard a pip from Vic and are expecting it to be a no as they appear to disallow anyone with 120 points!

Good luck!

Thanks Julie, hope everything goes well with you and your victoria sponsorship, will you go to perth if its a NO. The only problem is it is the waiting and you feel as if you are losing out on time also.

Catch up soon.

Hi James

They (ACS) took the $400 off us I think a good few weeks ago, so not quite sure now why they are asking for the other $50, it was there mistake, not ours, so that is why we had Awaiting Documents shown on our page, the agent paid the money and we have been told today that our case has been assessed and will be posted out this week, just another week to wait now. When was your application acknowledged with them, ours was 2.12.09.

What area of IT are you in and where are you heading.

Look forward to chatting with you.

It was received by them on the 26th November 08. I'm in software development (.Net) it's terrible to check the status everyday and be told "In Progress". I'm losing my mind. Trying for a 175 and hoping to go VIC particularly Melbourne, I love it there. Thanks for your answer and good luck getting your MODL/CSL points, I need those too :twitcy:

My status has changed! It now says "With Assessor" but with a message "Please allow up to 10 days if living in Australia or 21 days for overseas for your result letter to arrive". Does this mean it's been assessed now? Do I really have to wait even longer to receive a piece of paper to tell me the result? Seems crazy. Just glad something is happening though

Excited and nervous at the same time

Hi James

So pleased for you that it has now been assessed, hoping you get the result you want, do need the points for the modl/csl or are you ok with your points.

21 days is a long wait for a letter to arrive, whatever happened to emails followed by a letter in the post, they keep us ACS people waiting long enough as it is and another 3 weeks, what are they playing at.

look out for the words registered post no even if it still shows with assessor as ours did and the agent got the result the next day. Our status didn't ever change from this!!!

Does anyone know what the stages are for these assessments, and how long each stage takes. Mine was registered on line on 28th Jan, and status changed to this week to this :

Date Received28-January-2009

Event TypeSkills Assessment

StatusIn process

It's taken 2 weeks to change to 'in process' , how long is this likely to take ?

Well my agent sent me a scanned copy of the letter this morning and it seems that it's all worked out OK :jiggy:

I have the MODL recognition that I needed too (no I'm not OK without it). One of the advantages of having an Australian agent is the letter came through relatively quickly. If anyone is looking for an agent I can recommend Peter Chiam at Ptlabs Consulting I know I wouldn't have got through so easily/quickly without his help.

Today I'm a happy bunny

Thanks Sue, it's such a weight off my mind. When so many things are unknown about the process and everything takes so long, I was doubting whether it would happen or not.

Onto the next hurdle...

As Sue said the "With Assessor" takes the longest time and it will drive you insane if you check it as frequently as I did. Mine took almost exactly 12 weeks from the date of submission (1 day out). It looks like you shouldn't expect it earlier than that, might save you some anguish. What MODL speciality are you aiming at?

Good Luck!

No we still have not had our results yet, im so fed up, phoned our agent his afternoon and they are going to chase it with the ACS, our problem is that our agent is based in the UK so he has to wait for the letter in the post, will update you all as soon as we hear.

Kirst you should get a ACS number and a password off the acs and then you can log on to check your status online.

Good luck.

CONGRATULATIONS James, so pleased for you, we are still waiting for our results, unfortunately got to wait for the letter to come over from oz as our agent is based here in the UK, we need the modl pts too to be able to apply for a 175 visa.

OOOh Debbie how frustrating - hope you've not let it get you down on your birthday? Big Hugs ((((((hug)))))))))))) xxxxxxx

James - my hubs has applied as Jave Specialist. He is an Apps Development Manager but used to be a hands on Java programmer / developer and we think his experience is recent enough to go for the MODL (and CSL) under that ASCO coding. If, however, they don't pass him as that and he gets "graded" as an IT manager (which he is now) that's not on MODL or CSL so takes us to the back of a very very very long queue !!! So we've got everything crossed he gets the Java MODL.

We're waiting on his IELTS test scores too (should be here tomorrow or wednesday) so if they don't give us JAVA at least we still have the 120 points, if we get IELTS and Java (please let that be the case!!!) then we should have 135. We've done IELTS as a safeguard as hubs is 35 in June and we lose 5 points on his birthday, so didn't want to be pushing our luck and running the gauntlet of a late application!

Only time will tell I guess !!

Well I checked our online status again this morning as I do every day and low and behold our status has changed to With Assessor, oh well at least I know the end is nigh, but I was told by our agent nearly two weeks ago that they would have the results by the end of last week, the ACS requested an extra $50 and that was paid 13 days ago, so what they have been doing for the past 13 days I do not know, but at least I know I should now have the results by the end of next week.

Just to give others an idea of our timeline, our application was acknowledged on 2 Dec 2008, which was 12 weeks ago today, so they do appear to be sticking to their word in that it can take 10-12 weeks.

Good luck to everyone on their IT journey.

Debbie
