  1. Does anyone have any spare moving boxes that they want to get rid of ? We're going to be moving (again) soon, and we've thrown out most of our boxes from the move from the UK. If you need to get rid of them, they'd be gratefully received. Phil
  2. We used PTLABS. Peter was highly professional and I can't speak too highly of him.
  3. I wondered who it was that did that .....
  4. Does anyone know if Championship football is shown on Oz TV, or can be sourced from any torrent sites etc ? Season kicks off today, and I need to keep up ! Thanks

We live in Sanctuary lakes and love it. Have a look at this article, which gives some good insights into the area : http://theage.domain.com.au/real-est...423-1drz2.html
  6. Mark - Importing a boat from the states makes a lot of sense at the moment. Not sure about buying off ebay if I haven't seen it though. Any ideas on companies that ship direct from US factories ?
  7. Victoria really is the place to be. We've just spent an amazing weekend skiing at Mount Buller. The snow and village were easily on a par with anything in Europe or the states. The drive there took us through some fantastic scenery. Left there in the morning with snow on the ground, arrived back in Melbourne at lunch time and it was 21 degrees and sunny. Awesome.

There are Mosquitoes everywhere during the summer. We live in Sanctuary lakes, and there's no more here than anywhere else, unless you live right by the water (we spoke to someone recently who said he lived on the water and it was bad for Mosquitoes). Best bet anywhere is to buy the anti insect candles for evenings outside and wear insect repellent spray if they normally target you.
  9. Uknova is a good site. It's usually fully subscribed but keep checking as they open it up occasionally
  10. Good point. Have amended the post to clarify. Thanks
  11. I think that this piece in The Age, sums up the historical East / West divide, and how things are shifting. http://theage.domain.com.au/real-estate-news/moving-on-to-bigger-and-better-things-20110423-1drz2.html Don't get me wrong, the Eastern suburbs are great. I'd love to be able to live in Port Melbourne, St Kilda, Brighton etc, but I'd be paying over $1 million for a flat or small house, whereas, in the West, lands at least half the price, you have more choice, half an hour from the city, more space, 5 mins from the beach and half an hour from both airports. Also, the house prices in the East have peaked, whereas the West is tipped to be where the growth is. So in summary, I'd say that the East is great if you can afford it, but you will be the equivalent of living in Knightsbridge / Chelsea in London.
  12. Also have a look at point cook. Loads of new development and you can build your own house for a fraction of the price of living in the east. This is predicted to be one of the hot spots for house price rises and it's half anchor from the cbd. Now that the westgate is fixed the traffic (which was a problem) is fine. We live in sanctuary lakes and love it.
  13. I need to find a tradie who can build a 1.7m hardwood fence 8m wide with double gates in sanctuary lakes. Seems almost impossible to find someone to provide a reasonable quote who's available. Can anyone recommend a decent fencer ?
  14. Matt - in addition to that in my opinion I'd steer clear of Barry Plant & RPM as both of these agencies took advantage of our lack of knowledge when we dipped out toes in the housing market and tried to trick us into signing contracts which were not in our best interest. I would recommend speaking to Fadi Saad at Sanctuary lakes real estate. He was really helpful when we recently bought our house and guided us through the process honestly with no personal agenda. Happy to make a personal introduction if that would help. Message me your details.
