# Is it OK (TV Show: Adam Hills The Last Leg)

# Is it OK that Adam Hills star of the BBC Show The Last Leg flew out of Melbourne during lock down to make his TV show in London and now expects to be allowed to fly back to Australia before Christmas? He's taking a valuable place in quarantine away from people who started trying to get back home to Australia while he was still in Melbourne! I think it's extremely selfish of him and he should be sent to the back of the queue.

P.S. "# Is it OK" will only make sense to you if watch the show, don't worry about it otherwise!

If he books flights and pays top dollar the same as everyone else (and quarantines once here) i dont see an issue and cant understand why you would say he is selfish?. He has said he is on a waiting list for a seat so doesn't seem any different to others wanting to come back really. Lots of Aussies are overseas due to work and wanting to get back for xmas.

''I’m hoping to make it back home to Melbourne for Christmas, but at the moment I’m on a waiting list for a seat. I’m just hoping the Aussie government allows more of us to come home, otherwise it’ll be a lonely old Christmas in London for me.’

I think it's the securing a flight by paying top dollar that bugs me, while normal people are bounced off flights time and time again to make room for those who can pay the most. When you have a shortage of a vital resource it should go to those most in need (which means those who have been trapped outside Australia the longest), not those who can afford to pay the most.

I'm not sure I'd condemn any Australian  as selfish if they were contractually obligated to the BBC to film in London before year's end and wanted to return by Christmas - not while non citizens like complete Indian cricket teams and English cricket commentators can swan in 🤔....or while the taxpayer pays $4000 an hour for a RAAF jet so some (currently employed) politician can swan around the world spruiking for a job he won't get...because he can't risk getting infected like an "ordinary" citizen.  🙄   That sets a new definition of "selfish" in my book.   Hills did at least return home as recommended when the  government  closed the border early in the year - unlike  many of those now overseas and complaining. ( I realise  some couldn't because of work contracts, advanced pregnancy etc.  but many did have a choice when it was much less difficult. )

That sounds like socialism Ken? If we kept that idea going, we'd be like a communist country.

I don't see any problem with it.  Alan Sugar went to Aus and was allowed to quarantine as far as I'm aware in a private residence on his arrival, which to me was totally unfair given everyone else, regardless of wealth had to quarantine in a hotel room.

I am sure he is not alone in being able to agree with the government that he can fund an independent security firm to enforce his quarantine.  If people want to spend that kind of money then let them, makes no difference to anyone else does it?

I can't say there's anything wrong with that as it doesn't take a place in quarantine away from anyone else.
