Esad.I
Hi guys, have an odd question if anyone knows. Visa expires yesterday for example and you lodge a bridging visa today and gets approved (BVC is granted). What are the chances to be considered un-lawful citizen if any? Any info is appreciated. Thanks

leezo77
can't believe that I have been all alone for so long on this erratic visa journey, only to find such a rich community of shared experiences and concerns - and an excellent spreadsheet with data that is our only insight into the processing magic that mostly eludes a logical pattern. Thank you for sharing . and please add me to the spreadsheet. (details in signature). Still in Received status.

Thanks I believe that there is a grace period (30 days - but best to confirm with MA). This allows visa holders - expired ones too, time to make plans to exit the country or reapply for a new visa. An assumption might be to level the intake, re the percentage of processing required per month, over the ceiling required for the 2018/2019 period. agreed, very unfair for those waiting for a longer period of time, but equally unfair in the ceiling is reached months before the end of the cycle, having reached the cap. Purely speculation, could just as easily be workload management, processing 5% of every month on a rotation.

Thanks If you had already applied for your visa in May 2018 as per your signature your BVA should have kicked in automatically after your current visa expiration. I believe a BVC is only relevant if you did not have a substantive visa previously. However, I may be completely wrong here so please seek a registered MA for further clarification if you are worried.

Thanks, Not about me - i still have my 457 valid and got my nomination approved last week. It's for someone who had tourist visa expiring yesterday and got BVC today, even though form 1005 was submitted on Friday.

millie1871
I have noticed when I look at the attached spreadsheet timeline for each month and scroll up to the white section (people who are still waiting) it seems to be a lot of similar professions that are waiting to be approved for example heaps of marketing specialists every month. Is there different weight placed on the perceived "importance" of skills? Or is it just that you they seem to do different professions in blocks e.g all Chefs together? I am applying as advertising specialist. Which i guess is similar to marketing specialist? I am on the old grandfathering scheme... I don't believe that you can apply as an advertising specialist anymore so im worried I could get forgotten! Any other Advertising Specialists out there? Honcho
On 22/03/2019 at 16:01, Hex said: @Mustung That would mean that you have "no intention of staying for the 2 years", after the visa is granted and would make the visa condition(s) not fulfilled. Meaning that, if - (a) the department found out somehow or - (b) your company informed the departement after the visa was granted, there would be a high chance of the visa being cancelled. This is a very real thing and does happen - i'd be very careful here if I were you. The company sponsors you on the premise that you will be staying with them for min 2 years after granting. - Failing a valid, real reason of leaving early - this could end terribly. All for a little extra money. Make sure it's worth it. Hi Hex, First of all thanks for all your massive contribution and help on this forum ! Like most people I had the fair intention to stay 2 years with my nominated employer when I lodged my application. That was without knowing the processing time of my application itself would take close to 2 years... I can imagine the years already spend with the employer under bridging visa during the extended processing time isn't a receivable reason to leave early is it ? Personally, I think you're sponsoring employer would have to Lodge a complaint for any action to be taken. So you should try leave on good terms I reckon.
Cbyrne11
Update on my application; Requested documents from both my employer and myself provided to the MA. They are currently reviewing them but said it seems we have everything so likely will be uploaded today, docs were requested on the 8th of March, so 28 days from request would be next Friday! Feel it's getting close now!
