    I already wrote to our local MP months backs about how unfair it is that the people who have suffered the most in this country over the last two years are still being treated worse than the areas that have lived without restrictions. It's honestly a joke though, from what I see no one has any citizenships test since we've reopened, whereas people in SA and WA are getting approved and conferred in 3-4 months. Something needs to be done about it, online citizenship test should have become a thing, get all your documents verified like the 100 other visas I had and answer the test questions over zoom.

    This is a bit different but when I was on my other visas in Australia my passport contained all my middle names, when I replaced it last year I got the middle names taken off. My MA said it might be worth putting as a change of name on the application. Never attached any supporting evidence, and that request was always there but mine got approved fine.

    I'm not sure that private members bill would still be up for debate givens that it was raised 16 months ago.

    I believe that's the case. Two years ago they froze citizenship applications while Dutton tried to force that change through, adding an English language test and some other requirements. They couldn't get it passed but created a huge backlog by not accepting applications for a six month period and scaring anyone who was elligible for citizenship to appy all at once. I'm worried now that they have a better majority that it will come back and they could pass it now, which would be a kick in the teeth considering I've been here 5 1/2 years and only just got PR. Might not happen though, best case Dutton doesn't get the home affairs portfolio but imagine whoever they put in that role will have similar views to his.

    The only other thing is who will be home minister and if they will bring up the changes to citizenship again (remember the 4 years of PR, instead of four years in Australia with one year pr), or deal with the terrible back log in citizenship applications (over two years at the moment). These will only affect us after we receive our grant though. Labor didn't support these policies.

    This happened to me as well, was 42 days after I submitted them my nomination and visa was approved. Had me nervous but then got an email out fo the blue from my MA

    Great news this morning, golden email came through both nomination and visa granted on the same day had checked out at 8.30 still said received and then got an email from my MA at 9:10 saying it was approved. 9.5 month wait in the end, not the worst but glad it appears new applications won't have to wait as long as it can be quite nerve wrecking at times. Timeline updated. No I didn't the famous email.

    Mine is the same, asked for additionally docs from the company and for me and my wife to upload AFP and medicals on the 8th of March. All done well before the 28 day deadline. Asked my MA today and they have had no further contact since. 7 weeks now, was excited at the start of April, now have the feeling that either; 1. Something is going wrong with the nomination (Don't see how this could be, my employer has sponsered PR a number of times over the past few years) 2. My application is going to be forgotten (Seeing as they are approving people from August onwards and barely approving anything from before then - I assume so this is so they can up their approval numbers and look good in statistics or what not). To be honest I'm finding it really hard to stay positive and have only been waiting 10 months, I'm constantly imagining that I'm going to get a phone call to say it's been rejected and to start packing up your life! It must be impossible for those waiting over two years,. I really feel for you guys!

    Wow, yours got approved in 4 weeks? Congratulations! Good to see they are sorting this system out for new applications and saving a lot of heart ache. Unfortunately for me it seems they are processing ones paying the saf levy a lot quicker than applicants prior to August 2018.

    Thanks, didn't realize that, my point was that you don't have to wait to be married, although it may be easier to prove a relationship if you have a marraige cert.

    I'd say this is probably wrong as you could also add her to your application before being married as a de facto partner if you've been living together for 6 months.

    That's horrible to hear, I really hope that you can sort this out. Seems like it was a mistake, hopefully your MA can get in touch with someone in DOHA and get it looked at. Has increased my nerves 100%. Does anyone know if the training requirement are any different between 186 & 457 visas, we have had two people in my company approved for 457 visas that applied the same month or before I did for my 186 visa. I assume it would be the same documentation attached to mine and hoping it is ok, as it's the only part that I don't know about.

    I remember being told this by people but when we got the grant for our 457 (Irish resident as well) it stated that we had to maintain private health insurance. I don't know why people are so eager to give up private health insurance, once you go over a certain amount of earnings you get hit with penalties (Extra medicare levy), and if you don't have cover when your over 30 they load your health insurance premiums when you do take it out. I think it's worth talking to a tax advisory before cancelling it as you might end up worse off. Also not to mention getting better healthcare when you are sick

    Thanks, guess it saves me checking the messages on my immi account 5 times a day, I emailed my MA on Monday to see that everything was submitted on time for the nomination and haven't heard back which is making me nervous.

    Hi guys, Have a question when your nomination is approved so you get a message on your immigration account. We had a request for more information 32 days ago for both the visa and nomination applications. My visa application is still showing received, wondering if I will be notified if the nomination is approved? Getting nervous now as most people are requested for documents after their nomination is approved, and wondering why I've been before nomination is approved or that the status on my Visa is changed.

    Yeah, that was the case, seems like they reviewed both the nomination and application and asked for documentation, my application is still listed as "received" but I have requested to provide missing documents. I think @krl is in the same boat, don't see his nomination approved in the spreadsheet. My MA didn't seem to think it was unusual.

    Exact same, mine still says received. My nomination isn't approved so I figured that was why.

    I'm in the same boat, same docs requested on the 8th of March uploaded last week. I obviously can't say for sure but looking through the spreadsheet I think it's likely that they will open it a couple of days after the 28 days has elapsed. At least that's what I worked out from instances where people had mentioned the date where doc were requested and you could see approvals going through around 30 days later. Obviously though there were other cases where months went by after requesting documents so I so can't say 100% and this is just my opinion, but at least you know there is some movement in your application now!

    I think he means application after 12 August that had to pay the SAF rather than the training benchmark, that's how I took it anyway. From the spreadsheet it does appear that these are facing a lot shorter wait time than those applying with having to pay the training benchmark, some are being approved within a couple of months. There are more approved from August/September than July or June.

    It's listed on the spreadsheet. For me and my wife we hadn't one our medicals or uploaded our police certs. But my company had to provide a couple of financial things. BAS, evidence of training expenditure, updated financial report.

    I think it does make a difference, there's been a bit uptick in approvals from August onwards, some even from Nov dec being approved, while June July are still showing received. I do think there's been more approval recently, Update on mine: still waiting to hear, all docs uploaded last week, Friday is 28 days since the request so fingers crossed they check for them then!! It's being process by nsw.

    More than likely he's on a Bridging visa A, which doesn't allow travel so he will have to apply for a Bridging Visa B, which are easy to get, cost is about 145 I think and allow travel in and out of the country for up to 3 months. I did it a couple of months ago through my MA, any reason for travel seems to be accepted, I just wrote holiday with family which was accepted.

    Update on my application; Requested documents from both my employer and myself provided to the MA. They are currently reviewing them but said it seems we have everything so likely will be uploaded today, docs were requested on the 8th of March, so 28 days from request would be next Friday! Feel it's getting close now!

    https://www.myaccessaustralia.com/10-useful-things-186-visa/ This link covers this question in the FAQ, doesn't specifically state they wouldn't cancel a visa for it, but says unless there was fraud it would be unlikely. Personally, I think you're sponsoring employer would have to Lodge a complaint for any action to be taken. So you should try leave on good terms I reckon.
