Hi Meg,

I've just seen your post - you poor things. You must have been so scared. I'm so glad it turned out okay and I really hope that you're both feeling much better now and can relax and enjoy the rest of your stay. Bet he was just so so exhausted. As long as you make sure you relax too (as much as you can!). So great to read all the comforting posts. Take care xx

Oh Meg, poor you (and John of course).

Pleased that it is all sorted now and that you will be able to enjoy the rest of the holiday. The spa idea is a good one - just totally chill and relax for a day before you start out on your adventures.

Don't forget to come back and give us all a full report.

hi Meggs & John

What a start to your holiday, better to be on the safe side tho!!

I had a terrible pain behind my right eye just before xmas which lasted days, but my fab doctor sent me first to eye specialist which turned out fine, then to neauroligist who sent me for MRI i was petrified thinking all sorts including not being able to follow our dream to Oz. anyway got my results back last week can't find anything sinister apart from yes i have got a brain:twitcy: after all, i think if you have headaches for such a long time you do worry and more so yourself and oh with his history.

so glad you are both ok now and have a great holiday:wubclub:

all the best

Hi Megs

I hope it all works out for you. I'm sure once the hospital have put Johns mind at rest that it is nothing serious, he will be able to relax, get some sleep and you can both enjoy the rest of your stay.

It could be a migraine. I get them, and i'm useless for days.

Good luck.

What a nightmare for you.

Put it this way, if you come home still loving Australia after all of this happening, imagine how much you'll love it without all the drama!

Enjoy the rest of your break. It will put everything in to perspective now.

I am jealous I am not there.

Hi Megs,

What a terrible time it must have been for you. But I'm really happy for you that everything is OK now. You can never be sure about these things so its best to check them out immedately. I know that from bitter experience - my partner died very suddenly from a brain haemorrage in 2004. It upset me to think of what you were going through. You're a brave girl.

I hope you haven't been put off Australia by this experience. Its really is a wonderful place to live and I cant wait to get there again.

Do some serious chilling now and have a lovely time on the rest of your holiday.

Have fun, I'm so glad Jon's ok.

Love Annie x

Hi Meg & Jon

Glad to see everything is ok, I know exactly how you feel hun, when we moved over in August last year,my husband started to loose a lot of weight, we just put it down to the heat and the work he does then he woke up on new years day with his left eye that had drooped, I said you need to see a doctor, you know what men are like "yeah yeah tomorrow" in the end I made him go to the doctors who thought he might have an infection, so gave him antibiotics and said "if it's not better by the end of the course you need to come straight back" my husband then had to go to Cairns for 3 weeks for work, when I picked him up at the airport I nearly cried, his eye seemed to have got worse, so I said bo***** to this you are going to see an optician, who done various tests, then called in the senior optician to confirm what she had seen, bearing in mind they tell you very little and you do not understand the lingo they speak anyway!!

Anyway he was sent to see some other big name in eye's who done more test's then came out with, just as I thought you need to see a neuro surgeon!! panick really started to set in then OMG what if he has had a stroke or a brain tumour, what will we do? everything started to happen so quick which made me panic even more as thought the worst, went to see the neuro surgeon who was a lovely lady, she then sent him for a cat & mri scan, we were then told to ring back the next day for the results.

So the next day I wanted to be sick as the thought of anything wrong with my hubby was so scarey, I know this seems long winded, but went to see the neuro doc who said that everything was ok, "thank god" but he has left hornes syndrome, which means his nerves in his left eye are damaged, probably due to the fact that he is a carpet fitter, and may have banged his head whilst lifting a carpet onto his shoulder which has caused the nerves to be damaged, but I tell you now this was the one of the worst times of my life, even though I do have family over here I felt so alone, and for all the tests he had done "not that this matters" it cost over $2000 in just over a week, we could claim some of the money back through medicare, which was a bonus and good to have piece of mind knowing that my husband is ok.

Hi guys,

Thank your sooo much for all your wellwishes, i never appreciated the true value of a virtual hug until now! I felt so alone, but felt so much better having had all the offers of help from so many people!!

Well Jon arrived back at the hotel at 2pm yesterday afternoon, he walked into the hotel lobby with his hospital wrist band still on, a patch on his hand from the drip and several heart monitor stickers stuck to his extremeties, looked like he'd escaped rather than been discharged!!

He is feeling much better, he has still got the headache, but is so much calmer about it now having been reasured by the Drs that there is nothing wrong with him! Just wish he'd settled with that answer from me, would have saved alot of stress and heartache!!! The Drs gave him some diazepam (techincally Vallium) which he took at 7:30 last night as we couldn't keep our eyes open any longer, and he slept right through the night for 14 hours!!!! So thankfully i managed to get some sleep too, although i'm still waking between the hours of 12-2 for some reason!! But we both feel so much better today, have just had our first day together on the beach - our last in Mooloolaba, and we're flying down to Sydney tommorrow morning.

Again thank you guys sooo much, it was so lovely to feel so much support from you all!!

The good news is I STILL LOVE AUSTRALIA!! If anything its made me feel even happier about moving here, as the service was fantastic and so caring.

P.S - Annie - i am so so sorry about your OH, your experience is a reminder to us how lucky we are to have survived it. Its a terrifying thing to know it could happen to any one of us with no warning at all... thanks so much for the well wished hunny, it means so much.

Enjoy your time in Sydney, just wish we had been closer. Take things easy and maybe when you emigrate out here we will eventually catch up.

  • 4 years later...

My wife's brother had a spontaneous Haemorrhage - Sub Arachnoid Haemorrhage ,as the doctors couldn't find out why it had happened suddenly to a 17 year old .

It took him 1 month to regain consciousness and understand whats going on around him. That was the time it took for the blood to disperse or clear out from his brain region of ruptured vessel. Since, then he was on Anti Haemorrhaging medicines and a dozen other tabs to prevent clotting , pain killers etc etc. He is doing well , but is precautious about headaches and red eyes due to exhaustion or no sleep.

I hope all is good and well now....

Cheers
