Cerberus1
The Economist Intelligence Unit has just released the results of its annual 'Global Liveability Survey'. 140 cities worldwide were surveyed under five categories: stability healthcare culture and environment education infrastructure. Scores in each category and sub-category are compiled and weighted to give a total out of 100. 100 is considered ideal and 1 intolerable. The top cities and indeed much of the rankings remained similar to last year, with Australian and New Zealand cities landing five of the top 10 spots. Canadian cities made up another three of the top 10 positions. Top 10 most liveable cities 2014:
Lambethlad
I notice climate is not one of the criteria. If it was, Melbourne wouldn't be number one.

Bibbs
Yeah, I'd live in most of those. Strangely the ones I wouldn't are the other Australian cities.
starlight7
I'm surprised Brisbane isn't there though. Too hot? I would have put it before Perth. Adelaide is a bit of a surprise too because it is quite small, more of a town than a city in many ways.
Guest
I was in Sydney earlier this week and couldn't wait to go back to Brisbane. Sydney is so dirty in comparison and the weather was terrible. The public transport worse etc etc

flag of convenience
Employment isn't on the list :cute: Because as I already mentioned it is not aimed at locals. Business executives from abroad are not in need of employment, educational or health outcomes (companies pay) and so on.
Parley
Melbourne's a great place.....................to get away from:yes: You are half right. We have a winter, but it is not that severe. You need a winter to appreciate the warmer weather.
flag of convenience
Don't worry...."old misery guts" from the west will be here soon to pour scorn on this survey Now will a saucer of milk and tickle under the chin, rid your mood enough, to allow you a return to a place in the corner and a very long sleep? How's the tomb on one liners coming alone? A bit flat I expect.

The 2nd half being right? Right?. I work outside and have not had a coat or a jumper on all winter here in Brisbane, though the locals have been rugged up for tackling the south pole.
