ImageConfident
Will we be able to fly out without renewing them or will we have to replace them before we go? Just wondering in advance, thanks Cath
Tappers2oz
Will we be able to fly out without renewing them or will we have to replace them before we go? Just wondering in advance, thanks Cath Don't quote me on it but I thought all passports had to have at least 6 months left on them when you travel, if not you had to renew. lebourvellec
It's faster and costs half the price to do in the uk than from Australia. If you already have visas granted - you fill in form 929 to get visas transferred to new passport.
Mark 1234
They expire a month BEFORE you hope to leave? Best get them renewed or the kids won't be going with you.
Guest
Renew them before you leave. It's much cheaper, easier and should you need to return to the UK in a hurry for any reason you can do so.
Parley
Depends on the passport and the countries you are going via. Australia doesn't care about 6 month validity on passports, but certain countries like Malaysia, Singapore which you might be passing through do. Que Sera Sera
I didn't think you could leave the UK at all without a valid passport?
Parley
Yes of course you are right. If they have expired then obviously they must be renewed.
MaggieMay24
I don't know the rules about passport validity for exiting the UK, but I assume any country you want to enter will require they are valid.
NickyNook
You won't be able to board the flight if the children don't have valid passports.
ImageConfident
What I should have clarified is that we could push to move sooner, thus passports still being valid. My main concern was whether they would let us in if there was less than 6 months validity left. But thanks to some good advice here, it is probably easier to renew before we leave than try and do it from OZ.
lebourvellec
I would expect that if the passports don't have long left on them when you apply, the co will request new ones before they will grant the visas.

Your children should always have valid passports anyway - the last thing you will need in a family emergency is to rush around trying to get passports for them at short notice.
