Hi, I just got hired as a paediatric nurse and now waiting for my 457 Visa. Nurses are still very much in demand i think you wont have a hard time looking for an employer, as you mentioned your experienced.I think your option is through the 457 Visa since the 175,176, and the 475 was suspended.Get started and in no time you will be here in Australia.

HI Guys, some of you might remember me as i was on here a couple years back, but due to family circumstances we put off our plan to move to Oz

However now things have settled we are considering it again. We would like to move to QLD (probably brisbane) and was wondering wether nurses still as in demand as they were?

Peviously when we were looking we had to come over on a 457 visa as i didn't work more than 20hrs per week, but now i work full time and have done for the past 15 months so i know we could possibly apply for a 175/176 visa now, although i have heard that some nurses are finding it hard to have the right amount of points now.

I have 14 yrs experience as a nurse and have worked in ICU and dialysis and also worked in acute medical and surgical wards. I currently work in a community hospital that is basically nurse led so have management and leadership experience and have been on the RCN leadership course, i also do extended skills such as venepuncture, cannulation etc.

Just looking for a bit of up to date knowledge really regarding whats happening etc

thanks

Hi, I am heading for Adelaide, I have 3 children ages 15,13,5 and my hubby decided that we should start our new life in South Australia with laid-back lifestyle and the cost of living is low.

Hey all,

This thread is so lengthy!! It has maybe been answered before but i was just wondering if anyone can tell me what it is like nuring in Brisabne? I have just got the IELTS results and passed so my documents are at the ANMC waiting to be approved. Next step is to lodge the visa application (hopefully nursing is still needed). I have renal (not dialysis) general medical and infectious diseases experience. We want to move to Brisbane as we have friends there.

Any information would be great.

Thanks, Pamela.

Hi People

I'm a registered Nurse, specialising in cardiology, we too have had our IELTS results for a while, am awaiting my manager sorting out my Referrence, everything else is done then I can send it off to the ANMC. I know there is no current haste due to the DIAC putting a stop on things, but it makes me wonder is this some kind of fate and am I not meant to go!!!

OOHH dear I keep having second thoughts,

Also does anyone have any problems with the medical. I think I am developing artritis in my shoulder and am worried i'll get that far, pay out all those lovely pennies then get a big fat knock back at the medical ......

Thanks for reading

Have you been doing to much CPR Emma?

Why don't you have a word with a physio (maybe even at work if you know one personally), rather than your GP? That way if it is muscular or tendinous you can have it treated without it necessarily leaking back to your GP.

If it is early arthritis a good musculoskeletal physio will be able to recognise it, and then you'll be able to seek appropriate treatment and objectively assess your chances at the medical.

Have now got a positive skills assessment and am pondering the next stage....

I am aware that the nursing boards are joining forces in July...so shall I apply for NMBNSW now or wait and do whatever it is that we need to do in july? Any thoughts??

Hi

I am going to wait until July and then do it, for 1 - I can't go for the visa until December as I worked 19.5 / wk for a few months until Dec 09, so although I've been a qualified nurse forever (it feels like) I haven't got the 20/wk until this Dec and also we cannot make up our minds where to go for, we swing between SA, WA and QLD almost daily:spinny: So at least if I'm reg with all, I can leave the decision a bit longer LOL

So annoying that you pass your ielts (1st hurdle) then your agent calls you to say that the applications to the ANMC are now online!! so i will have to pay for a solicitor to witness the document AGAIN, as i had done this with paper application. Unavoidable he said!! The whole process isn't cheap so to get told that i have to pay for a solicitor AGAIN just annoys the life out of me!!!!!!!!

Has anyone else had this problem????

The same thing happened to me....I posted my hard copy (with the printed off online form so that they could see that the info was the same)off on the 2nd March - they changed over to the online system on the 5th march. I, like you, had the hard copy certified and didn't want to re-do it all. I took a chance and posted it, with a covering letter explaining the situation, and they accepted it. I've just received my letter of determination in fact!

Personally, I would find a solicitor and pay the extra to get it certified. I think that I got in by the skin of my teeth, I wouldn't take the chance now!

The nursing registration boards have all now combined . For assessment I believe its the national nursing council and they will also do registration now. Before it was them for assessment of qualifications and then the same thing with the board in the state you were going to work. Now when you register its national.

Better I think. Others may know more as I am already here working, and of course registered.

Good luck to you all.x
