can anyone help ? ANMAC query ...my previous nursing post was surgical , and my current post critical care . Do i apply under 2 ANZSCO codes or just my current speciality . Do all references current and past have to refer to an ANZSCO code , So do i need to ask my previous boss to put down code for surgical nurse , and my current one critical care ? hope this makes sense.

Hi i had similar dilemma i work across medicine and aged care...but decided to go for medicine as the broadest title so as not to limit myself, however imnot really sure how this might trip me up if applying for aged care specialist role? im hoping my c.v and experience with show the difference or i would explain as needed?

Very few na's here and the ones that are either have to be student nurses or completed training. .its mostly all registered nurses or enrolled which you need to study for too...why dont you register with ahpra? You could get a support worker or mental health worker role outwith nursing..seen few casual positions for that type of thing..

I have no idea about childrens nursing sorry..just mental health..maybe sum1 else can help wth that.

Lorna ive tried looking for answers to a question but cant find any. I was trying to see if the demand for childrens nursing is as popular as mental health please? And also does the salary differentiate much? Many thanks :)

Hi the code is for ANMAC only, I was coded aa Aged care but m AHPRA states Registred Nurse Divsion 1, think you just adjust CV accordingly depending on job your applying for

i think everyone finds itu scarey at first ! i am only just starting to enjoy it now ~ just getting my head around all the medical devices and it scared me to death being left to look after them! its taking a while to get my ANMAC bits together , feel nervous asking my bosses for a prof ref after only being there 6 months. But going to bite the bullet and do it as cant wait to get to oz . we havent settled here since our reccie. well sounds like your doing great on IELTs already! I did find the reading the hardest . It was a very boring newspaper article and could not find the answer to the questions very easily , and i am quite a methodical person . i dont know if you are meant to guess the answers as some questions were a bit vague. i guess if you have time practising would be beneficial .. i worked a few nights prior and although had good intentions to have a practice i didnt as felt too tired. stay in touch , we can help each other along! BTW i really liked Brisbane , amazing city but i personally dont cope well with humidity. we didnt see the best of nsw either as there was lots of flooding and rain when we visited the east coast .

Know what you mean Toodolou, I work in ITU, have just been there 6 months (went straight from qualifying) and am just building up the courage to ask for prof reference! Have my first IELTS booked for next week, just hoping I can get all 8's as I need the points for the 189 visa. Planning to head for northern NSW. I have done a bit of practice but the reading does seem the worst to me, I'm finding the answers are just not that clear, particularly where they make you give headings to the paragraphs, some are really vague! Hope you get on better with the general, i'll be doing that if I can't get all academic 8's on the first go

Hi everyone, just wondering if someone could shed some light on this for me! I'm a bit stuck on what points I can claim for my qualifications, I have my nursing diploma from 10 years ago but more recently done the degree through cipd, it's in child health as I'm a paeds nurse. So can I claim the extra points for that degree or just my nursing diploma?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

congratulations on becoming a nurse , in my trust they dont take on nurses in itu unless a year of acute experience but seems like it us different elsewhere, yes , i still havent asked yet lol, good luck with your IELTs and hopefully you wont need to retake for 8s . wish i had practised the reading ! it found it to be a little unclear and vague . originally i wanted to head port macquerie or newcastle , but just personal preference for adelaide now since visiting . where / when you hoping on going to ? good luck with your IELTs what city are you taking it in?

hi , i am a diploma nurse , i asked the same question on here a while back . A nurse answered that she was given 15 points for her diploma because when assessed by ANMAC it is assessed as equivalent to oz nurse degree. Therefore 15 pts. Hopefully a nurse will confirm this for you that has experience of this.

I also looked at this as I have dip he and 2 degrees, Hoped I may get some extra points ( you can live in hope )! My understanding is you can only claim points

once and that is for your highest qualification i.e degree 15 points.

Thanks colettemg123, I just wondered if the degree was able to be used as it isn't a degree in nursing as such, so would I claim just 10 for the nursing diploma or 15 for my child health degree? It's all very confusing! Doesn't take much mind!

Hi toodolou, thanks for that, good to know hopefully there should be a fair few nurses in the same or similar situations! It would be nice if this degree was useful for something! ; )

I'm sure if its nursing orientated it should count! If you going through ANMAC for skills assessment they will verify whether it can be accepted. Good luck

Thanks nic1171 I'm about to start the skills assessment do will see what they say, thanks for that.

Yeah was a bit daunting going straight to ITU but going OK so far, have good days and bad, usually depends on what kinda patient I get! Love the NSW north coast, we went out last summer for a reccie but haven't set on a particular place, happy to be flexible and go where the jobs are. Hoping to get our visas sorted by next August, give us time to save some ££ and get some more work experience. I'm doing IELTS in Cardiff, good luck with the general
