  1. Mine is soon to be posted...just as soon as I grab ten minutes xx
  2. Wowsers hope so, cos in answer to one of the prev comments...I did get Foxtel, and its pants! Secondly I moved to Ipswich to live with my sister and her family, and its really a nice suburb that we are in. I love one or two channels from the UK, i.e. BBC I player and 4 od, do they have those on Netflix??
  3. Hey Mark, can you let me know if you have a NOW TV box and does it work over here...how did you get it going? thanks
  4. Hi please can anybody help ....my lovely brother has sent me a Now TV box please can anybody tell me how I can get it working THank you x
  5. Hey Tracy, we are in a very similar boat! We too are living in Ipswich and have only moved here a few weeks ago. I'm working at Ipswich Hospital how about you? i'll PM you in a mo ?
  6. I sat mine at Manchester...it was fine. Lots of people organised into different classrooms. Very well organised which helped me relax, and i was chatting to a couple of people who were also sitting the tests and that was nice and helped my nerves too. Take snacks in your bag and a good book cos there might be a gap between your written, reading listening tests and the speaking test. Good luck and try not to be too nervous its not all as scary as i'd led myself to believe!
  7. Simone Braverman - Ace the IELTS I think its called...google her name and you can pay for the e book online and also a great practice marking service. I used it and felt so much more confident when I arrived for the exam...take a look and see what you think Good Luck! p.s dont be scared by it, I heard loads of scary stories before hand which were'nt helpful to be honest.
  8. Hiya Elven, We are in the same boat too, we are flying out to Brisbane two weeks on MondaY !!! We are all really excited and nervous but are so busy trying to get the house sale completed and finishing packing up that it all feels surreal! We will be settling in Ipswich (crumbs its a small world really eh!) which i think you mentioned your brother in law lives there...We like it its near enough to most things we need and its where my sister and family are living so initially seemed a sensible place to land! We'll be living in Easter Heights or Flinders view - 2 lovely leafy subburbs I too am very sociable and love a good get together so please add me to your get together list and PM with any questions or dates for drinks!! Keep smiling.... thats what Ive found to be the best solution, along with a little bit of chocolate, the occasional glass of wine and a well organised list!!:laugh: x
  9. Unfortunately you did upset several people with your comments I fully appreciate your views but I think you really need to be aware of how aweful you sound when posting in such an aggressive way. It often takes people courage to post a question and to recieve comments such as yours is not only unhelpful but may stop others from posting questions at all, which I'm certain goes against everything this forum stands for...I dont want to sound patronising but perhaps a little more thought next time!
  10. Ive just spotted your thread (and after getting really cross with certain unhelpful comments) I wanted to offer a top tip that might already have been suggested, but I found feeding my son as we were literally taking off made a lot of difference as the suckling action helped his ears naturally adjust to the change in pressure. Also the flight crews that I have seen recently have been brilliant in supporting young families so I'm sure they are well trained in this. I have flown many times with my children as infants (who btw are now 14 and 16) and found calm mum who ignored unhelpful others really made most difference
  11. Or me too...lol I agree completely. some people make me so mad too...x
  12. Sad, mean individual!...its a really simple rule of life...if you have nothing to say thats nice/helpful/useful or even slightly interesting , don't say anything at all.....why do you bother posting? If its merely to get a reaction.....well i 'm sorry but its pathetic!
  13. Thankyou for the info thats really good to know. Its a similar situation here at the mo with train travel. If you book a direct train from say Blackpool to London Euston its about £120 return (cheaper on the internet of course) but if you buy split tickets for the journey i.e Blackpool to wigan and wigan to london Euston it costs £55 and you stay on the same train?!!! Might be handy to know if you fancy a train trip
  14. All of the above may happen/ have happened......enjoy your trip
  15. That's cheap, is that return air fares each or both together?
  16. Hi All, Our move cube is floating across the ocean as we speak, but I have still got a little too much to take with us. Two suitcases approx 40kg extra in total. I suppose we have two options; pay excess luggage costs at airport? (Malaysian Airlines) or send them seperately first to arrive in a few weeks? Any recommendations of companies to send two cases? Anybody got any experiences of either please? Thankyou
  17. Hi i have just filled and sent a move cube last week i didnt send any furniture..but they supply furniture covers if you ask them. I only packed boxes and tbh it was like the hardest puzzle ever getting everything in it! However the nan who delivered it helped and was superb...he explained that the cube stays exactly as you pack it until it arrives at australian customs and they decide to look through your itinery and checks....
  18. Sorry I should have been clearer, when I said uncertainty, I was meaning that Tax is an area where I have no knowledge so I wouldn't be certain about the same things the OP was unclear about! As I said, albeit in very poor taste I was only being mischievous and playing devils advocate...I am a very honest tax paying individual who, as I also stated, would enlist the services of an expert in these matters. I have a financial advisor here in the uk and will certainly be getting one in OZ, not for any other reason than I know nothing about this topic....so perhaps I should have been quite and not been mischeivous, note to self....don't get involved!
  19. I agree...was playing devils advocate/thinking out loud. Tax is always an area of uncertainty i would say speak to a financial advisor who knows about uk assests as well as australia xxx
  20. This was my thinking...how will they know if you dont declare it...im mot sure if thats dishonest or not? As you mentioned youll be paying tax on your income from rent in uk so if you dont mention it in oz you wont be liable for both im guessing?? Im certainly not an expert ....anybody elses thought?? Am i suggesting something that can get them into trouble??
