  1. If you look at the email I pasted above it says you must have both.
  2. My Cousin did London - Perth - Melbourne in July as it was cheaper. With WA not having any cases at the moment, should be no problem getting to Melbourne once you are clear.
  3. I believe there are some self catering apartments as well, but this is not mentioned in the blurb.
  4. Yep! I finish work next week, removals on the 6-8th and hopefully flying on the 15th. So many forms to fill in!!
  5. No we are still here and confirmed with SIA at the moment in September, but I will be trying to book a later back up flight if I can when the next email comes out! I believe in flight entertainment it actually there, but they won't guarantee it. Food supposedly VERY basic though.
  6. The email looks like this! OFFICIAL Good morning, You are receiving this email as you have registered with DFAT as wishing to return to Australia. There are currently seats available on a facilitated commercial flight departing London on 1, 3, 11, 19, 21 and 29 August 2021. If you are wishing to return to Australia you should seriously consider this opportunity. Conditions To be eligible to book these flights you must meet the following conditions: I am an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or I am a family member of an Australian citizen or permanent resident who holds a valid visa and exemption. I am able to meet any UK transit requirements. I willing to follow Qantas’ COVID 19 testing requirements at a Qantas designated clinic. Children travelling under the age of 18 are accompanied by either a parent, guardian or adult family member, who holds a valid visa and exemption. I have the funds to purchase a ticket with Qantas (starting at $2,151 AUD per ticket, including departure taxes). I am liable for the costs of NT quarantine, commercial accommodation if necessary and onward flights from Darwin. What's different about these flights? These flights are being operated for repatriation purposes and services on these flights will be significantly reduced, including the following: Limited onboard food and beverage service. Inflight entertainment will be unavailable. Qantas Frequent Flyer benefits (Status Credits, Qantas Points, and the option to upgrade with points) will not apply. Seat selection is unavailable. Bookings Bookings can be made directly through Qantas using the following link – please note you must make immediate payment to secure your ticket/s: Government facilitated special commercial flight | Qantas You must include DFAT approval code, XXXXXXXXXX in the first screen to successfully complete your booking. If all tickets sell out, an error message will display on the Qantas website. We encourage you to regularly monitor the Qantas website as tickets may become available due to cancellations. Bookings made by anyone who did not receive this link from DFAT may be cancelled. Bookings made by anyone who departed Australia less than three months ago under an exemption may be cancelled. Kind regards Consular Team Consular Operations Branch Consular and Crisis Management Division www.dfat.gov.au
  7. Assuming you are in the UK Ron... 1) Register each of your family members and provide in the comments section at the bottom of each persons form, details of why you should have a flight - no job, no accommodation etc. You should them in the period you nominate (ie Q4 2021) get every email they send re flights from the UK. This includes a code for the flights in that email ONLY. 2) There is quite a lot of demand - August UK flights sold our in about an hour I think, with economy in half that. However people so cancel and if you keep checking back it is possible to get flights. If you get to a position of being close to homeless etc, you can email the conulate and ask to be prioritise and they will if they can help. 3) There were 6 UK to Darwin flights in August, however it depends on demand. I expect demand to be high still so should be multiple flights into November. 4) £1165 per adult economy, about £2k premium economy and £4k business class. 5) Yes 6) No - you will get a code to book in internal flight with Qantas as a 50% discount and with international baggage allowance. 7) Monthly - last month was the 19th July for August, so register NOW!! They help you get to your flight safely so you don#t have to Quarantine again. 9) Yes, they only apply for the flights (month) in the email, eg My July code didn't work for August. Keep updating your details in the DFAT form to stay on the list/ priority! Good luck!
  8. Definitely well located for Ferries. Are you sure it much cheaper than Brighton way? Bournemouth is a bit mad money wise.
  9. Yes I know but you don't have the same range of destinations from Bournemouth as you do from the larger airports, hence my comment about doing research on whether that meets their needs. It is painful enough heading to the airport at 4.45am when it is 20 minutes away, let alone 90 minutes.
  10. Lovely, but if you are working regularly in Europe you might want to do some research on travel? Its a long way from Bournemouth to Heathrow etc, so you would want some local flight options.
  11. There are still some, but as the AU govt have not formally extended the reduced caps into September, I think there may be another bout of cancellations. Who are you flying with again? I am planning to book with DFAT as a backup when they announce the September flights. Have you registered with DFAT?
  12. We are rather in this situation the other way round, my wife has been in the UK for 16 years. We didn;t plan to stay this long, but then you have a job, a credit card, a wedding, mortgage, kids, career, schools. It is bloody hard to tear that all down to make the move. It has taken us 3 years from starting, although that is a lot due to Covid.
  13. If this is the case I would probably enjoy every minute of the remaining Visa, then you will know you did everything you could while you were in Australia!
  14. The travel part of the PR will have an expiry ate, which I guess is 3 years from your statement. Within that time you can return to Australia. Once that expires you need a Resident Return Visa (RRV) for which you have to show you have enduring ties to Australia, like a home, job, family etc. It is not guaranteed by agents seem to get good results. You can apply for the RRV before your travel portion expires, but if outside Australia I believe you usually get a year.
  15. Sounds like you are in a holding pattern you are not enjoying. Get out!
  16. In addition at least some states have their own forms. For WA / TAS you need a G2G Pass. G2G PASS. NT has its own too even for DFAT flights. I would strongly recommend you register for DFAT flights as well, else you might find December turns in March turns into June, which is not great if you are quitting a job, giving notice on your home etc. Home (dfat.gov.au)
  17. If some of the photos iv'e seen recently are photoshopped the houses should be burnt to the ground...
  18. Are you a qualified accountant? If so that is a possible route, but VERY competitive.
  19. This is the issue, I want to say it is unused (it is) so they don't try to clean it, but that might mean $000s in duty for something which cost me more than list price in Australia!
  20. Thanks all, I think on that basis the tent is my only concern, however they are actually cheaper in AU than here (NZ brand tent) so I am losing money, but had to buy it as I had a credit note to spend!
  21. Its certainly eased now the stamp duty cut has gone, but there is a lack of supply.
  22. Hi Folks Re the requirement to declare things less than 12 months old, we have bought one or two things this year, a new fridge, armchair, bike and tent. Does everyone list normal stuff like this, or are they looking for people who are trying to bring in 10x boxed TVs etc? For example our tent was a replacement for one which was returned and mostly paid for with a credit note from last year - would you declare this? £1700 worth.
  23. HI - I was looking at the house buying process a few days ago, and found this quite useful: First Home Buyer Guide - Advice For Buying Your First Property | REIWA
  24. Absolutely the right thing if time is tight and someone else is paying. The OP sounded a little more vague on the job, and as it's only a year that is not likely to lead to a PR route, so would be onshore with a Partner visa application anyway.
  25. It doesn't work though does it? If everyone tried to live of grid half the world would have nowhere to live. It is a luxury for the wealthy. We rely completely on intensive farming to sustain us, and also employing the younger generations to farm it for us.
