  1. I moved to flemington when I arrived. Easy to get into town and prices arnt too bad, currently paying 350 per week for a 1 bed flat brand new build. Real nice place and across the road from the train station. Has been perfect for the last 11 months of working in the city.
  2. Just to update this thread I'e been assigned a case officer!
  3. Yes I'm aware of the tight timescale.. believe me. I was just checking if there was some way to extend the visa a few months to save me either having to sell all my posesions here to move back home to possibly get an invite a week later and having to move back. Maybe a possibility would be to fly out of the country and just re enter on a holiday visa and stay with family in tasmania whilst its waiting for a decision? Would that option effect anything. Visa agents arnt interested in helping as I already have a application in and don't want to give advise for somehing they can' charge for.
  4. I lodged my EOI 2 months ago and had applied for the Tasmanian 489 6 weeks ago. Run down of how it went - Lodged our EOI for Tasmania 489 2 months ago - Company I was working for in Victoria offered me a job and willing to sponsor me. - Put my application to Tasmania on hold as advised it would be diffcult to swap application mid way through. If work sponsorship in vic worked out. - Company failed the check list for sponsorship - Applied to Tasmania 489 6 weeks ago and advised it will take 2 to 8 weeks. - Have till end of November till my current visa (working holiday) expires. - Checking my options to apply for a bridging visa in case the invitation from Tasmania takes more than the 8 weeks they mention. And here I am today. Hope that helps.
  5. Thanks I'm week 6 into their 2 to 8 week decision period that they stated on the application response email. I'e seen other folk receive a decision around the 7 week time zone so hopeully it will come through any day. Thanks for clearing it up for me. And to clarify I can't apply for a bridging visa seperatly? As I've seen this on the Gov website and is a little confusing when I had a look at the options. https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Appl/bridging-visas Thanks
  6. Hi rammygirl I have indeed lodged an application for Tasmania 489 and received confirmation from them of the application. I have not yet been accepted and provided a case officer. Are you saying I automaticall get a bridging visa from the time I sent in my application or I get it after I have been accepted and provided a case officer. Thanks
  7. Hi Maggie Thanks for the swift reply. I didn' notice any bridging visa form when I applied and got my email from Tasmania saying "thanks for applying we will contact you via email if accepted etc etc. I have my EOI in and an application to Tasmania 489 that I'm yet to hear back on. I'm still within the 2-8 weeks period (currently week 6) waiting for a decision. Do you mean I'm automaticaly granted one when I applied or when they accept and i have been issued a CO. Thanks
  8. Hi Im currently waiting to hear back on a current Visa application for a 489 State Visa for Tasmania. Im running out of time on my current visa ( working holiday ) which has a month left. ( I do not have second year and can not get one ) I have gone through to the Bridging Visa application on the DIBP website and it asks for application > visa type.. now is this asking what I have currently applied for or will it start a new application as I'm worried about messing up the current 489 one. Any Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  9. I've been saying this since my first post. I didn't want her to get told no by users on here and just give up as it will be a NO from the Visa. if you don't try you don't succeed ! there is no harm in chasing it up with a agent who is qualified to tell you what to do, not a user on a forum. this is a great place for advice but no way should be substituted for what an agent actually does. I was in no way offering false hope, I simply supplied her with the list of documents that she needs to supply as many of as she could, as stated by the gov website. its down to her and possibly her agent to go through this list and see what is feasible to supply. no one else offered this but instead said that she wont be able to get it. unless these users are in fact visa agents they should make that clear on their profile. good luck on your journey and I hope in some way you find an answer.
  10. what I meant is the agent can offer advise as to what to supply as evidence. as you don't have to be married to be named a partner on the visa. there could be some other piece of evidence other than shared address and bank? so instead of saying it wont work maybe lets offer some help and share some info that they might of missed. for example this list from the gov website https://www.border.gov.au/visas/supporting/Pages/partner/Proof-that-your-relationship-genuine.aspx Proof that your relationship is genuine and continuing As many of the following documents as possible: a statement about your relationship that describes: how, when and where you first met how the relationship developed when you became engaged or married, if applicable joint activities periods of separation significant events in the relationship your future plans together. documents that show you and your partner share financial responsibilities, for example: mortgage or lease documents showing joint ownership or rental of property loan documents of major assets such as homes, cars or major appliances in both names joint bank accounts household bills in both names documents that show that you and your partner share household responsibilities, for example: a statement about the way housework is distributed household bills in both names mail or emails addressed to both of you joint responsibility for children your living arrangements documents that show your relationship is known by others, for example: joint invitations, going out together, friends and acquaintances in common proof that you and your partner have declared your relationship to government bodies, commercial or public institutions proof of joint sporting, cultural or social activities proof of joint travel. documents to show you are committed to each other your long term relationship, for example: knowledge of each other’s personal circumstances such as background and family situation. You could tell us this at an interview. documents that show you have combined your personal matters the terms of your wills letters and phone bills that show you have been in contact when apart. as I said before maybe speak to a visa agent who can advise.
  11. possibly speak to an authorised agent, they will have had this issue before and probably know what is needed.
  12. each assessing group specialise in different trades. you need to check each assessing companies list of trades to figure that out, easily found on their website. They are also recognised Australia wide so no need to worry about the sate.
  13. but if you do get the invite soon, do let me know on here. good luck, I'm sure it will come through.
  14. im not a visa expert so take my advice lightly But from what I know, the needed points for the visa are 60. anything above puts you higher on the selection list after they have chosen people from the urgent skill list. but they will look at your skill and decide whether its a needed skill at the time. so really they can pick and choose based on skills, for example a Welder or builder would be more beneficial to them than other skills. probably why they suggest it takes 2-8 weeks to sort through things.
  15. have you downloaded the form ? it does have a section on there to include assets such as investment, property and even a car as well as bank savings. so you can put down a listing price of your property as an asset. you might be asked for proof of this so I imagine they would need some sort of confirmation from your estate agent or a copy of your mortgage agreement to prove you do own a house and is valued as such. you will need the form stamped by a GP etc. it doesn't state how long the funds need to be in your bank or the amount needed, it does however ask on the application for you to give a detailed monthly cost of living in tasmania and also an estimated cost of moving there inc shipping and flights, its a way for them to make sure you don't arrive having spent all your cash on the way here. and that you have a sound understanding of the costs involved.
  16. I imagine you put those details in the EOI and it does state that if any circumstances change to notify them immediately. I would speak to an agent as it seams like a unique problem that probably few on the forum have been through.
  17. It can take 2 - 8 weeks for a decision. Remember they give priority to urgent needed skills first, such as Diary Farmers etc.. as those skills are taken before points. give them the 8 weeks time to come back to you. p.s if you email them and they look at the application to check it, they say that can delay your application. so refrain from emailing or calling the Tas Migration Dept. I am also waiting for a Tas 489 (applied 1 week ago ) I also have family who live there that are sponsoring so will be interested to see how that effects time. there was a mistake on their application a few months back where it wouldn't let you apply unless you were currently living in Tasmania. this has now been fixed as of 3 weeks ago (ish) so I imagine there would of been an influx of applications now that you don't have to reside in Tas to apply. so could take a few more weeks than the minimum 2 as suggested.
  18. Hi I am from the UK and also with a "rather specialist" job (Camera Operator and film editor for BBC and Discovery) and have applied for the 489 in Tas. Ive been freelance for 9 years. and also had to have my skill assessed by Vetasses. Don't underestimate the amount of proof you have to show for this. as freelance you will need a degree in that field and show at least 3 years proof not 1. they will ask for business registration, letters from your registered accountant, invoices, bank statements, tax returns the lot. and they actually go through it with a fine tooth comb... more than I was expecting. and also proof that is was a full time job, they don't accept part time work. in the end I submitted 9 years worth of that stuff. I even had to get a letter from the Inland Revenue stating what my occupation was. and this process can take up to 2 months to complete. prep for this is key. wether you do it yourself like me ( passed and signed of for 9 years proof ) or an agent.. they will ask for the same info as they are middle men in that process. the next thing is the points, again like Verystormy said thats quite a rare number.. just be careful with what ever you submit, if they find out its false its goodbye visa and any future ones. I scored 70 - unless you are counting your partners skills too which might be the 80 you speak of. another point is although you have a "rather specialist" job, that unfortunatly doesn't mean a lot to Tasmania ( I know the feeling ) they will give priority to dairy farmers etc. they have a specialist list that they have to show their "urgent" visa needs. This will come up in the application. so might take longer than expected to get a invite. I would seek an agent to help you in the UK or go to a migration expo, they usually have one every other month at various places in the UK and chat to some different agents on that day. but I would defiantly sort your vetasses out ASAP as you can not put in your expression of interest in until you have that.
  19. Oh ok, so when I Apply to either this employer sponsor.. ( hoping the agent says its all good ) or the State Nominated Visa for Tasmania. it will auto grant me a Bridging visa until a decision is made? Sorry for the constant questions, Having Dyslexia makes it hard to understand the complicated Gov website. Im also sorting out an Agent to assist also but thought I would see what you guys say on here too. Thanks
  20. Yes I'm aware of these hoops.. the employer has seeked the advice from an Authorised Agent to make sure they comply and I have already had a skills assessment performed and verified for 8 years worth of work by Vetasses. and currently I have scored 70/60 on an EOI for a Tasy state nomination visa that I applied for before this job offer came through. I am yet to apply direct to Tas via their Immigration website application and still able to change my application if this employer can indeed sponsor me. has any one here applied for a Bridging Cat A visa and what was asked of you to submit and time taken to receive one?
  21. Thanks for the reply and the link.. although it has some info on it, it lacks what is probably frequently asked questions. Such as if I accept the job offer can I start work straight away for the employer and how does that effect the rules on my current visa. Also I have seen the Gov website on Cat A bridging visas. will I be entitled to one with a job offer in hand. seeing as my current working holiday runs out in December and it can take 8+ months to get a visa decision back for the job offer.
  22. Hi Ive Just been offered a job by an employer willing to sponsor me on a 186 in Victoria for a job that covers ANSCO 212314 film and video editor currently on the skills list. Im currently on a working holiday visa that expires on 1st Dec 2017. Any ideas on the waiting time for "employer sponsored" visa and if I run out of time after submission will I be able to apply for a bridging visa A ? Thanks for the info.
  23. Hi Ive lodged my 489 for Tasmania ANSCO 212314 with 70/60 points. Now they have an application on their site as well... do I have to lodge another application through the Immigration Tasmania site.. what is the purpose of this application and does it void the EOI, add to it or just a bonus application? link to application on their page. https://www.migration.tas.gov.au/skilled_migrants/skilled_regional Thanks
  24. just had reply from migration Tas... they said "just click yes to living in Tas and apply.."
  25. thanks for advice. I have written to Migration Tasmania to ask them directly maybe with them knowing all the criterias I currently fill and the fact my brother lives there and my parents are migrating to retire there, its obvious my intensions. its just hard choice to make for me and my fiancé to quit work here to move over to Tas before we get a Visa. the only reason we are still hear working is to save as much money for when we get the visa to finally move so we have no financial issue whilst seeking new work.
