Hi guys, My hubby and I are thinking of activating our visa and then returning to the uk to sell the house just to buy more time. anyone know if our infant has to arrive to activate as well or if we can leave him at home? Only thinking that we could easily manage popping over for the weekend to save money but a two year old wouldn’t manage. Thank you

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!! We’ve just submitted and paid for our visa after receiving our invitation. We’ve filled out the medical declaration and have the Hap numbers. My question is, shall we wait to be asked to complete our medicals or will they expect it to be done ASAP? I’m sure I’ve heard about others being asked to do so. We aren’t in a huge rush and I’m aware of the one year expiration date and getting over to activate etc.

What additional docs are people being asked for ?

Hi Clem, At what point are you being asked for references ? We have our invitation and filling out application currently - I would have thought all the references etc were done?

Thank you so much for all your replies they have been really reassuring to read. I have no idea how often we could be back but also if family will visit, my husbands parents made it clear last time we talked about it that they would never fly that far and they are people of their word and don’t handle flying well (nor the heat). They actually said “if you go that would be goodbye” I think that’s something that does upset me / make me wobble. Yes we would be giving our son Atticus a fantastic life but his grandparents would also make a contribution to his life that we would be taking away if we were to leave so to anyone that has done this - how do you justify the decision? How do you guys find the cost of living out there ? I’m worried I have rose tinted glasses about salaries etc and I’m constantly reminded by the negative people around me that I’m choosing to live somewhere incredibly expensive. I’m 30 and my hubby is 32, Atticus is almost 2. We want outdoors, weather, a life by the sea. Sadly I feel that if my dad was already gone I’d be on a plane tomorrow. I always think lost money can be re made and the what if would be solved but when my dad passes away I’ll have the regret of not being there so either way there is regret. Regret if I didn’t go and regret if I did because I wasn’t there for him. Unfortunately pre Atticus Nic and I travelled with any spare money we had so we have very little savings but we have a lot of equity in our house , we need to sell to get over there , pay a few months rent , get a car , transport animals etc. Not spend anything crazy but certainly more than we could save in a year. Also knowing my personality if I had a house to come back to - the minute something goes wrong I’d be using it as a reason to go home. Nothing to go back to means it’s time to get on and work hard. I realise that also may sound irresponsible and not realistic - I dont know

Hi, great idea and I’m very envious. Unfortunately we do have to sell in order to afford the move especially with the animals. We don’t have much savings and no idea how much we’ll have by the time it’s all ready to go. So we need the equity from our house to get us all there, set us up as I can’t work straight away, few months rent , car etc. Our animals are absolutely coming so we can’t say to everyone we are just going for a year - they won’t buy it. I also worry about putting that idea in my head and making me not fully settle if that makes sense. If it goes wrong and we need to return I think I’d rather a fresh start anyway ..:. Maybe !5

Yes we are doing the same so far but if someone stepped in to look after her we’d go that route but still taking cats. It’s so expensive , we’ve done some vaccinations and that cost a lot. But it’s the quarantine the other side which is another plane ride away from our final destination, there’s only one quarantine facility in the whole country!

Yes absolutely unfortunately I have to pay for the visa on my credit card and if we sell and go I would pay it off then. If we stay I would get a heck of interest before I could pay it off

I called my husband straight away , we both literally jumped for joy over the phone but now this evening the mood has turned , I’ve shed some tears and now we are wondering if it’s the right choice - has anyone else felt like this? We have a little boy who is almost 2 so there are grandparents to consider and my dad is poorly with dilated cardio myopathy (what George Michael had) , my dad wants us to go and give it a shot. It would mean selling our house , shipping animals and leaving everyone behind. I was totally ok with this and in fact we only ever talked about the short term being in London because next year ‘we’ll be in aus’ , until the email arrived and now I’m bricking it - anyone else had this ? How did you get over it?

Hello We applied in July and got initial invite in October and the full invite today once we proved what we were saying

Hi everyone we received that long awaited email today inviting us to apply for the 190 visa for NSW! [emoji322][emoji322][emoji322][emoji322] We have seen that there is a fee of $300 per person for lodging the application for NSW. What we can't seem to find out is whether or not this is part of the final cost which is estimated on the border.gov.uk website? I feel your pain! I submitted for two visas one with 60 and one 65! No invitation yet - it's an anxious wait!!! What's bothering me is I hear of automatic invites the same or next day and then also invitation rounds ? Hi guys - I have just been looking at skillselect in detail but can't see rounds dates but at least one has happened since we applied but then I read about automatic invites and Kev147 mentioned he got an invite the same day which I'm sure by chance couldn't have been the day of rounds??
