  1. What about dried herbs and spices ?
  2. No we don’t have jobs. Husband will look as soon as we exchange on our house so we have an actual date of arrival. I just had a baby so won’t be working yet. We have state sponsored PR due to skill shortage.
  3. Hi guys. Our house sale is about to exchange and we will then be buying our flights to come out to Sydney a month later - eeekkkk. My question is rather broad but what do you all with your wealth of experience and knowledge recommend to bring with for a smooth transition, for getting a job , Medicare , kids . For example obviously we’ll have our birth certificates and marriage certs, CVs, but anything else important that I won’t kick myself for not having brought or sorted in advance ? Passport pics ? I dunno We already have our online banking and debit and opus cards. We are on permanent residency visas. Thank you all xxxx
  4. Hi all. We’ll be making our move by May hopefully. We are a family of 4 so will need a car and we’re campers so ideally a big family car. How have people found getting finance or leasing with no history out there ?
  5. Hi all, We’ll be arriving in Sydney May sort of time and renting a 2/3 bed house in greater Sydney. We’ve never rented before only owned and I have a bit of a random question. Do renters usually get to choose what cable or satellite provider to go with? Like the uk equivalent of choosing sky over virgin ? I’m only aware of foxtel over there. I know it’s not an important question but one I find myself pondering [emoji848] Thank u
  6. Hi guys Myself and my husband and son all have permanent residency visas - we are landing in May. After securing these we fell pregnant and had a baby here in the UK , she is now 15 weeks old but we are on a tight timeline to get there , i rang immigration and they said it’s best to get her in on a typical 90 day tourist visa, then apply for 802 once we are there and they’ll give her a bridging visa to bridge the gap whilst applying . The normal child visa from here was going to take too long. I’m still nervous as our departure draws closer and my daughter doesn’t have a visa. Can anyone reassure that it’s that ‘easy’?
  7. Hi guys We’ve decided we need to take a few boxes by plane to have straight away. Stuff that won’t go in suitcases and without getting into details stuff we don’t want to buy again there or wait to arrive on the boat. Has anyone done this? Recommendations ? Thank you.
  8. Definitely holiday home first but if we’re lucky and find a place quickly it’s whether or not they want proof of a job or is bank statements enough
  9. Hi all, We are coming in March /April 2020. We are bringing all our money which is enough to buy a house should we want to. But we want to rent first. We’re coming over with two children and my husband is the earner as our second child was just born two weeks ago. He wants to take 4-6 weeks off when we first get there , settling and spending quality time with us. But we hope to have a rental by then. Will bank statements be enough to secure it ? Ie possibly no work contract.
  10. Hello everyone, A few months back we visited Sandown immigration show in Esher, UK. We spoke to a company who we felt very reassured by for transporting our animals. It wasn’t air pets or transfur (nothing wrong with these at all) but , this company was the only one who took a look at a picture of our dog and said - yes absolutely do not fly through Middle East (she’s a mixed breed with suspected staff) . I’ve lost all details of this company but I’d really love some up to date recommendations for company’s to fly our animals. We’re looking to leave next March , rabies jabs are already done but we are looking into boosters. Thanks in advance
  11. Hi all, I have to be honest I’m moving from Greater London to Sydney area (Newcastle , central coast or Wollongong) and I have a 3 year old and a baby on the way and I have to be honest that all this stuff has really scared me in terms of the people we’ll be encountering. House prices where I am currently are insane and no one can do it without parental help
  12. Unfortunately that’s not an option in my case
  13. I’m a teacher in the UK and I love my school. If i wasn’t leaving for aus , I’d never leave it. But I know I want a better life and a more outdoors life. Have you got any routines or part of swimming club there? Are u with anyone /family ?
  14. I’m still in the uk but heading out next year, what are you missing about it Here? Have you got family /friends?
  15. I know there are processing times online but even my 190 was faster than that. How long did people really wait ?
  16. We waited to be asked for Medicals which I think was mid March, some people do these and get them ready but we needed them to be in Easter time so we could do an activation holiday this Easter as you need to land within a year of Medicals to get more time to arrive on ur visa
  17. Oh right ha ha - ok so the invitation took the longest, then everything else was really fast. We submitted our expression of interest July 2017, we were approved in November , and then I know we paid January 2018 and then April 2018 we did Medicals and then June 2018 we were granted
  18. We got a 190 invite from NSW with 60 + 5 for the invitation. Teacher occupation
  19. Hi guys My partner and I are looking to have our second child here before finally leaving. Is 101 our only option for him or her? It’s a long processing time and expensive when I’m sure my sons visa on 190 was half the cost. Just wondering what other options may be available ?
  20. Yea I mean towns near Wollongong/ Newcastle / central coast. Not Sydney itself as that is not our budget. We stayed last time on northern beaches and are very aware of the price tag.
  21. I’ve never said , hard to tell at this stage but renting no more than 700-800 a week. When we buy I’m not too sure because of property prices here when we sell and our income out there but maybe 800,000-900,000 but all those numbers are flexible and obviously renting in the beginning would like lower but we need a 2-3 bed house
  22. Hi again everyone, I just wanted to drop back on here as our activation holiday is now looming this April. We are staying in freshwater next to manly , Sydney. We will have a car and plan on travelling a lot up and down the coast exploring places. We are going to check out Wollongong, Newcastle, central coast and maybe even Byron Bay. A few people have now mentioned Newcastle and I’m wondering if anyone can pls give us an idea of where to look / not look for areas in which we may want to settle / look for properties/jobs when we do actually move. We are looking to be coastal or a 20 mins drive to beach max really and not too in the sticks as my hubby is a project manager so will need to find work within 1 hr commute. We have a child so somewhere with a community feel , decent schools etc. I know that living outside London there are just towns to avoid, and towns which are fine and towns which are great. Any knowledge to refine our trip and save time is great! Thank you !
